Is it a bad sign for the vacation when you faint on the plane? COMPLETED!

I am really enjoying your TR. My DD is 17 months now and is going for our first trip in May, so I'm always looking to find new tips. It's sounds like your DS did well sleeping in the Aerobed (at least so far). Had he slept in it much before your trip? I'm still trying to figure out what to put DD to sleep in. Thanks and Congrats on your Baby Girl!!!

More snow and ice on it's way tonight for us....the white is pretty for Christmas, but these 14-15 degree days are brutal.

Stay Warm!

Scrappie
It's funny that now when I watch the national weather on tv I'll think of DISers as they should the maps.....like I think of you when they are talking about Chicago or Jackie when there show Altanta. It's only gotten really cold here in the last 36 hours....thankfully we have the new additon to the house all sealed up in time.

Hi Heidi,

I just found you...great trip report! Your little Liam is so good and so cute!

Can't wait for more!
Thank you and I have more coming up !

Congrats on your little princess!

The update is going swimmingly. Your room looks about as spacious as our King Room at the Wilderness Lodge. Do you know what the square footage was? I think I might actually consider one of those remodeled mod rooms after seeing the pics of yours.
CBR square foot for rooms is 340....I don't believe that includes the pirate room section as that village was constructed much later then the rest of the resort. All other mods are 314 sq.ft., whereas values are 260 sq ft.

I'm trying to sprinkle as much toddler info in my TR as I can because I havent' found a lot of TR's that do. My DIS friend mousescrapper has a great TR going with toddler info in it (link in her siggie).

I highly recommend the aerobed for kids....it was the perfect size and the way it's designed Liam never rolled off of it. We set it up one night at home and let him play on it but that was it before he slept on it at the resort. The key was that I brought both his bedtime loveys and a familiar blanket with us.

When I last updated we had gone to bed for the night on our Arrival day (pretty sad that I’ve only managed to write about of 1st day of 10!)

Monday October 27, 2008:

Liam had slept very well and DH and I slept like carp. I mean serious carp like I was awake every hour. DH hated the bed, I didn’t mind the bed but the pillows were horrible…either too flat or too fluffy. I should mention that I was sick with a cold before coming to Florida so that was not helping the sleeping at all. I was congested and had a mild cough….at least the cough was mild at this point……

Here’s Liam watching his new friend Stacy!

Liam woke up at 5:45am and everyone was up and dressed by 7:30. No rushing today because the plan called for this to be our “Free to Relax Day”. Planning Note: Ziploc bags for kids clothes are a must! I had labeled all the bags so I was able to direct DH to the correct bag so he could get Liam dressed while I got ready.

Breakfast was planned to be at the resort food court Old Port Royale. The morning started off chilly but sunny so we walked the 6-7 minutes from our building (#13) to OPR. DH and I both got the croissant egg sandwiches with bacon, we got Liam a kids waffle platter, and fruit cup for DH and DS to share (we brought drinks with us from the room). Total was $20.73. Liam ate like a champ. All the food was good; the breakfast sandwiches could have been warmer and of course I noticed the microwave as we were leaving…oh well next time. Planning Note: there are highchairs available at OPR.

I wanted to poke around the gift shop for a minute and ended up buying the baseball hat ($19.95) I had spied the day before and a small nylon tote bag ($5.95).

You don’t have to wait until the last update of this TR to get souvenir pictures….I saved all my receipts so I know when and where I bought things….and there are a lot of things.

Here’s my new hat that I live in now. I had wanted to get a new hat while at Disney but I wasn’t planning on white. I’m glad I got it because I wore it all vacation and I never found another baseball cap that I liked….and I looked everywhere.

To the right of Wheezie is the tote bag. I used it on vacation several times and I currently use it for grocery shopping or packing toys for Liam when he goes to the grandparents’ house.

At this point it was 8:30am so we headed back to the room to get a game plan together for the rest of the day before our 5:15pm ADR at Chef Mickey’s for dinner.

This is the spreadsheet we were working from to plan our day. If you give DH and I too many choices then we get no where fast…over the years I have figured out that it’s best if we have several things to choose from instead of trying to think on the fly.

We would have both liked to have stayed at the resort to play in the pool but it was just too chilly that morning. We figured that it would warm up in the afternoon so that was an option for later. I had already decided that Blizzard Beach was out once I found out I was pregnant. So we were down to 3 choices….I would have liked to have done my outlet shopping that morning or gone to the Boardwalk area and have lunch at Beaches and Cream to make up for missing it the night before but for some reason I let DH make the choice with little input from me. He picked the Petting Farm at FW. I know why did picked it….for Liam… so how could I argue with that?

I spent the next hour or so organizing the room and getting our “park” bag ready for the first time. By 10am we were heading out the door to find the Fort Wilderness Campground.

I love having a relaxing day on the trip!

And Liam watching Stacy....ADORABLE. He looks so into the show! When my little one gets into something he's watching (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse especially), you have to like jump in front of the tv to get his attention!

Hi Heidi! You have to post pictures of your addition as it progresses - glad to hear it's weather tight - this weather is crazy!! DH has been outside raking the roof, shoveling the deck & walkway and snowblowing the driveway for the past 2 hours!

Can't wait to hear about FW Petting Farm - sounds like fun for Liam - unless he's like my kids - scared to death of the goats! But I don't think that started until a little older than Liam.

You know, I love useful souvenirs. And I don't say that to belittle anyone's purchase, because I've bought my fair share of sit on the shelf stuff, but it just tickles me to see someone make purchases like I do, things I know will get some use. Love the hat, and love the nylon bag! I bet every time you see them you think of your lovely trip.

Just like as it was snowing outside this morning on my way to work, I turned on my Disney 50th anniversary CD and listened to Walt welcoming people to DisneyLand for the first time and the train station sounds.

Thinking of that and reading about your trip makes me want to be there! :goodvibes

Liam is too cute watching Stacy -- I am not surprised that he was enthralled with her -- she is so high energy.

Love the hat! I can't wear hats because they make me look completely goofy -- my ears are too big or something.

I love the hat!! I can't wait to hear about the petting farm.. we've never been to fort Wilderness, and I'd love a little insight:goodvibes

You don't even want to know how many times we had to put Stacy on for him!

Sounds like our DH's had similar days yesterday!

He had fun at FW....just not with what I had planned.......

Cute hat!

Thanks!

I too have my share of useless souvenirs.....doesn't help that I plan to use the new basement room to display them. But I have gotten better....I used to buy way more Disney stuff then I do now. Plus I usually only buy Disney stuff at the theme parks, not from Disney online or the store at the Mall.

Liam is too cute watching Stacy -- I am not surprised that he was enthralled with her -- she is so high energy.

The only problem I have with Stacy is her hair styling.....her hair was horrible in the newer clips.

The next update should be all about FW Campground.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with for this one......

Baby Update: "The baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot."

I have an ultrasound on Tuesday to re-check the baby's heart/blood flow....just something they missed seeing the last time.

House Update: the addition is capped for the winter....I'll try to take pictures tomorrow.
