Mom, my hands smell-A first timer's TR-Completed 4/12

Poor thing..get yourself some sleep we can wait on the TR.
Here is some much needed :tinker: and a great big:smickey:
Hope very thing works out with the new guy.

Thanks so very much. It means a lot. The new guy is improving, slowly but surely. We're keeping the boy who's lung collapsed in our thoughts and prayers and he's doing much better.

 I'm subscribing. I'm headed out for dinner so I'll have to catch up later but I'm here. Us Arizonans need to stick together. :thumbsup2

Ok, guys. I know I've said this about 100 times but I'm oober busy at school lately. Tomorrow is our first show and then we have one every night until Saturday. I promise that I will have some form of update up this weekend--hopefully on Saturday before I head out to get ready for the final show. Thanks for being patient.

We're still with you on a bright sunny day in the North country. Good luck with the show.

I love your TR. It's unique and fun. Your writing is so good!

The first time I went to Disney Land, I was 16 and it was Tokyo Disney Land. Your report brings back all my sweet memories. I wish you get to visit Disney World/Land for many more times during your teenager years. It's just different being young and free.

Monday, July 14th, 2008—EPCOT, part 4

(Did I mention that when I said weekend, I meant a few days AFTER the weekend???)

Hey there guys! Show’s done and good-riddance! It was fun and we did excellent, don’t get me wrong. But the problem with high school is that there is TOO much DRAMA in drama. Ok. Vent done. Anyway… The show is over and I’m basically free until December when we start Pirates of Penzance, which I’ve been looking forward to doing for over two years. Yay!

ANYWAY… (again)

When I last left you, we had just been all through Future World and were just about to ride Soarin’ for the second time when we were faced with four of the Brazilian Tour Groups from Hell that, until this point in the day, we’d managed to avoid. As soon as we saw them, we tried pushing our way farther up the FastPass line. We were in luck. The line was pretty short and, thank goodness, they went into the 120 minute Stand-By line. Whew.

When we reached that little podium where they combine the Stand-By and FastPass line, we got engaged into a conversation with a family from Mexico and an elderly CM about the Tour Groups. We were discussing the best times to visit the World without having a hundred thousand singing teenagers following around every day. Grumpy also tried to get the CM to break his Disney-face to see how long he had been working at the World.

He looked at his watch and said “Well, I clocked in at eight. Now if you’ll please go down that aisle and turn, you’ll find your hand-glider waiting for you.”

Access-denied.

We rode Soarin’ and then headed down to the center of Future World for the ride we’d all been anxiously waiting for—Spaceship Earth. The line was only five minutes (and totally Brazilian free) so we basically hopped right on. Actually, most of the lines we encountered while on the Unofficial Guide touring plan were like that. And UG isn’t paying me to say this, I swear (though, if they were, I wouldn’t complain ;) ).

The ride was so cool. To tell the truth, it was one of my favorites during the entire trip. The scenes were really quite interesting. But, Sleepy’s absolute favorite part of the ride was the ending video. When they took the picture at the beginning, I just knew what I had to do. I contorted my face, rolled my eyes, and stuck out my tongue. Sleepy saw nothing.

I swear, I’ve never heard anyone laugh as much as Sleepy did as we descended the hill. I’m pretty sure they could hear her all the way back in the 60’s. Crazy. Unfortunately, I did not get to record it.

This time.

As we got off the ride, Grumpy was actually smiling. “My future’s looking bright,” he said. “Soon enough, we’ll be able to fly right over the Great Wall in a hover-car then fall right into the ocean.”

Lovely.

We watched the pictures pop up across the globe at the end for a few minutes. I showed up in the right place, but Sleepy showed up in Canada while Grumpy was in Japan. Odd.:confused3

As we left the building, Sleepy noted the First Time buttons a bunch of people had been wearing and said that she wanted one. Being the Disney wise one like I am, I pointed the way towards Guest Services. Of course, she had to go to the bathroom, so Grumpy and I went inside and picked them up.
Now, if you paid attention at the beginning of this report, you will know that Sleepy and Grumpy had been to the World before on a Disney Cruise Land/Sea adventure. Yet she still wanted a First- Time button. That woman confuses me at times.

I snapped a couple pictures while we waited for Sleepy to come back from the restroom. (I’m sure you noticed the lack of picture so far)

332.jpg

Ah. There she is.

333.jpg

Grumpy, Sleepy, and I decided it was finally time to go explore the World within the World. We stopped and picked up some FastPasses for Test Track first, of course.

So, as we entered the World Showcase, I took a picture of this.

337.jpg

I turned around, only to see this.

336.jpg

So, here’s Sleepy’s picture of the same thing for good measure. In case you can’t tell where we’re going.

050.jpg

And here’s what she took about ten seconds later.

051.jpg

Peeved? Who me? Never.

:rolleyes2

Continued in next post

Soon enough, we were entering Mexico.

342.jpg

I can’t remember ever being in the country, BUT I’m pretty sure that this isn’t what it exactly looks like.

344-1.jpg

Sleepy, being utterly herself, decided she felt the need to start frantically taking pictures like we’d never be back here again (which might actually be true after this trip).

059.jpg

Can you tell we want to get a move on?

After a while, we actually got to enter the pavilion. I loved it, actually. I thought that the nighttime theme in there was amazing. Truly unique. Sleepy and Grumpy were equally impressed.

“Aren’t you glad that this is where I chose for our dining reservations?” I muttered as we stood above the pavilion.

Sleepy looked at me excitedly. “Here?” she squeaked, like a little girl.

349.jpg

“Mmhmm.”

I know. I’m an amazing daughter, right? ::yes::

We went on the Grand Fiesta Tour ride and it was pretty fun. Just like Figment, it’s an addicting song. Seriously. I was humming it under my breath for a while after. When we got off, Grumpy checked our reservation at the San Angel Inn (we had to make sure they had down that I was a vegetarian…have I mentioned that yet? I’m a vegetarian) then we walked out into the bright Florida sun. :beach:

Only to find…

067-1.jpg

DONALD!!!!!

We got a little interaction with him then were on our way right over to Norway. I’ll tell the truth, when we stopped and saw these people…

353.jpg

I honestly thought we were in Germany. Until the blonde mentioned Norway.

Oops. :headache:

We went through the Stave Church where Sleepy took picture after picture of the little models. None of which I can find. Hmm…

We went into the little store that Maelstrom dumps you off in. Sleepy decided to have me pose in front of the traditional troll.

362-1.jpg

(Can you tell she took this picture?)

Then, we found them. Yup. The hats.

Now, I’ll forewarn you, that this is my absolute favorite picture of the entire trip right here. Now saying such, I suggest you not be drinking anything while viewing this picture for the first time.

Next up...well, you'll just have to find that out on your own

OK, finally a update!

Glad the play went off alright. Sorry about the Drama situation. Would love to see Pirates of Penzance but AZ is a little too far away.

In 14 trips to the World I've never had a problem with Tour Groups of any kind. Just lucky I guess.

I couldn't pass up the hats in Norway last year and wore it on Halloween again this year. I'm not sure who looks weirder in the hat, You, Grumpy or Me.. Your Dad does look more like a Viking than you do but you are a little cuter. Just a little!

You do seem to be an amazing Daughter. I have one of those too.

Looking forward to the next episode.

Yeah! An update. Loving the TR! I am going to have to convince my kids to let me take pics of them in those hats! We are goin in Sept 2009. I told my family that if I am taking them on this trip and paying for everything all I want in return is lots of photo Op's and no complaining.

Yeah. The update took longer than expected. Pirates is gonna be GREAT!! I'm gonna see if I can get a videorecording and put it up on youtube. But I'm getting ahead of myself--that isn't until March/ April.
What just gets me about that picture is that Grumpy has a unibrow from the clip-on shades on his glasses. We're gonna try and blow that picture up and send it out with Christmas cards!!! :lmao:

Lucky you, gettin' to go to WDW. Wish I could get Grumpy and Sleepy to agree to those terms of yours: I don't care how much I hate the camera, I'll do anything for WDW.
Hope you continue to like the TR. I've got more on the way--hopefully THIS weekend (as in Saturday/ Sunday, hehe).

Hope you get a good part in Pirates. I noticed the unibrow but realized it was really glasses.

We will be watching for your next installment, No hurry.

Now, to continue....

World Showcase, EPCOT,
Monday, July 14

So after we were done giggling our butts off (amazing what a simple giggle will do), Sleepy found her favorite hat.

079.jpg

(As a side note, Sleepy and I went to an annual walk the other day--early in the morning-- for the cure for Breast Cancer and saw a whole group of people wearing Viking hats…we decided that we needed to go back to Disney World and buy those hats so we could be a part of their group every year from now on…. And then Sleepy woke up and my dreams were dashed. :sad2: :sad1: )

We decided that it was time to move on (after Sleepy looked at the candy corner) to the next ride. Maelstrom.

The wait wasn’t too terribly long. Only 30 minutes or so. But we wound up on the boat within 20. Now, I don’t know if it’s my childhood spirit, my unusual love of folklore having to do with trolls, or the fact that I like going backwards on rides, but I really enjoyed Maelstrom. Unfortunately, Sleepy and Grumpy spent the entire time making fun of it. Sleepy even pretended to go…what else, go to sleep while riding on it. I didn’t snap any pictures though.
We skipped the video at the end, per…well, everyone’s request and hopped over to the next continent to visit China.

366.jpg

367-1.jpg

368-1.jpg

373.jpg

As we entered, Sleepy immediately sought out a Photopass photographer to take a few pictures. The first one was on my camera, and I have a feeling he shares Sleepy’s unusual habit of taking useless (in my opinion) pictures

370.jpg

In order to save my sanity, I went and took pictures of our pictures on the website.

016.jpg

(The first, and only, photographer to take more than the standard, whole family picture)

017.jpg

(Wait, I just realized their all sideways. Poo.:guilty: )

After those were all taken care of, three 20-somethings asked me to take a picture of them, using their camera, in front of the temple (I had no clue my photography was that sought out for). [Now, I want you ALL to remember these three people. I wish I had pictures of them so you could, but I don’t, so oh well. But they come into play later (much later) in our story. And it’s very funny.] Unfortunately, I couldn’t get their camera to take the photo so Grumpy took it for them.

We hit up the huge store first and found several things that were pretty cool, but didn’t get (the story of my life). But I did come close to an impulse buy.

379.jpg

We left the store and went to the front of the pavilion and watched some Chinese acrobats perform. We quickly got bored with this and moved on to… Germany.

380.jpg

381.jpg

382.jpg

384.jpg

Sleepy loves her chocolate, so we went and looked through the store to see their offerings, but decided against buying anything right at the moment. We looked through the other shops for a little while then went out to see the little train.

386-1.jpg

387.jpg

And then it was one last look at the ball before heading to the next country.

Up Next: The mad search for a chocolate bar.

Hi! Glad to see back again.

Can't imagine what a Viking hat would have to do with Breast Cancer but to each his, or her, own I guess. I have three of them. If we were closer I would give you one. Then again, that would eliminate a major reason to go back to the World. Tell Sleepy that she makes a great Viking! Wouldn't want her coming at me with that sword!

I thought the boat ride in Norway & Mexico were a lot of fun. Too bad there aren't more rides in the other Countries.

China was OK but we bought a pair of Foo Dogs there a few years ago that, we later learned, were not made in China. That's the one time you would want a "Made in China" label.

All those sideways pictures are giving me a sore neck by the way!

Not big on chocolate here but I would never turn down some Mackinac Island Fudge.

OK, I'll be looking for you down the page.

In Sleepy's words to your compliment, "Oh, how nice." :goodvibes I love the boatrides in Mexico and Norway...they're probably some of my favorite rides in all of EPCOT. Foo Dogs??? I have yet to learn what those are... Haha! There's always a "Made in China" tag on stuff until you expect it! That's funny. But I'm easily amused. I deplore the sideways pictures, but that's all that the photographer took. Poo. :(

Great updates! I don't know how I missed them. I like the Norway pictures!

Thanks! I actually don't like many of the pictures taken on my camera. :( That's why I bought a nice, shiny, new one that takes amazing pictures. :woohoo:
And... it's easy to miss something that isn't regularly updated. I'm just glad you found your way over.

Hi.

A Foo Dog or Fu Dog is a figurine depicting a pair of actually lions. They are usually green in color with a rather fierce expression on there faces. They are also called Imperial Guardian Lions. Fu in Chinese means happiness and the figurines are called Rui Shi in Chinese. There is also a breed of dog named Foo Dog in China hence the name Foo Dog for the figurines. I would have stuck with the Lion name but they didn't ask me.

Love the picture of you and Grumpy with the vikings horn hats but now I know whose boss in the family...Sleepy of course she has the biggest horns.:rotfl:

Glad to hear you are slowing down enough to post we missed you.

Sleepy IS the boss of the family. Most definately. :worship:
I've slowed down just a tiny bit, but I'm still getting layers and layers of homework in my AP classes. Go figure. ;) Which reminds me...I'd better get offline and start on that 10 page paper due next week. :scared1:
Your trip is getting so close! How goes the picture posting?
