How did you find the DIS Camping Forum? What keeps you coming back?

I found DIS Boards while trip planning one year. A couple of years later I was browsing the forums when I saw the camping forum! We're a camping family so I started reading! Next thing I know...FW here we come! It's the great folks we have met here and at FW that keeps me coming back. The humor shared here is priceless.

Well we went to WDW when Matt was 2 and stay at a campground on 194, because we got a free week for buying our first TT. We went back about a year and a half later, and stayed at the Fort. We loved it so much, but felt we weren't prepared, we didn't have any free time to enjoy the Fort, it was just park park park park leave. So as I was planning our last trip, I was searching for info on the fort, and found this nut house.

I stick around because I am a glutten for punishment. LOL Just kidding, I stayed because of THE PEOPLE, it is because of the PEOPLE.

Found the main site last year when we started looking at WDW trip for this past Spring. There was so much vague and contradictory information on the boards that I didn't do much with them.

I found this subset of the camping board when our neighbor was talking about a prior trip they took with their camper to WDW. I put camping forums and Disney in Google and this came back at the top of the list. So I gave the DIS another try.

I wish I'd found you when I was looking last year. We ended up going through a travel agent for the week's planning. She was good, but apparently hasn't learned much about the fort, because we never heard anything about it from her. Too bad, we would have found a lot of things to do that we knew nothing about at the time. :sad1:

It's a good bunch of people to hang out with, so I keep coming back.

I had never been on a forum before. Never thought they were my thing. But after my whole "mom's panel fiasco" I really needed something to make me feel helpful. I don't know much about anything except being a mom, theatre and Disney so I searched on 'I don't even remember what' and found the Dis. I signed up immediately and started answering questions! Jumped in with both feet as they say. I had an upcoming trip to the fort, so I found the camping forum to ask about the refillable mugs, was introduced to the otters and peacocks right off the bat, as well as catching a glimpse of the humor and comraderie on this board...I responded saying something about "I otter be talking about Peacocks" and the rest is history! I've been hooked ever since!

I was planning
a trip for my big old family...and was about to book two allstars, but somehow realized that ONE cabin wasnt too much more than 2 allstars....so I started looking for info on the cabins, stumbled into this and was hooked almost immediately. When I first started here, was apparently about the same time as alot of you other guys...I noticed small minor sarcastic remarks that were accepted with a jab....and knew this was the place for me. Since then, you guys have gotten much more sarcastic and seem to remain in the attack mode pounce position...of coarse ya'll never extend the claws. This past year has been alot of fun thanks to ya'll!!

I found it a couple of years ago when someone on another forum mentioned it while answering a question. While the other one was a friendly forum it wasn't nearly as active or informative. Now, almost every day, I go to Subsonic Radio to listen to the Disney music while I come here for the great people and information. That way I get a Double Disney Fix.

We have been here for a long time. This forum was really quite quiet up until the past couple of years. I don't think people really know there is a campground at Disney. It is a great forum. We camped at the fort for the first time in 1989.

I was researching our April '07 trip and someone on rv.net sent me the link to this board. I am a planner and found all of the tips here very helpful. When I first joined it was mostly a Q and A board with a bit of humor thrown in here and there. Then sometime later last year the otters, peacocks and beer starting taking over and here we are now...;)

A guy my Dh works with heard we were going to DW and told us to look up disboards. I logged on and came straight to the camping forum because we were staying at FW for the first time. I stay because of the people. You guys crack me up everyday.

The deal was DH got the truck camper, I got a camping trip to the Fort! While I was trying to research the Fort, I came across this site. I luked for a month or so before I posted. Great info here, even better people! The people and humor keep me coming back!!!! :goodvibes

You can blame my presence on the board on Al!! He couldn't believe I had never heard of Disboards, All-Ears, Mouse Planet, etc. He then realized that due to the fact I'm "all things Disney", I didn't need to be on a web site about WDW - but did tell me about the camping forum. One "look-see" was all I needed.... (well that, and a thread about otters that was totally corrupted by un-named members of the group) anyhow.... that was all I needed to be hooked! Of course the constant topic of beer was helpful, as well! Now, I have a bunch of new friends and am always willing to enlarge my circle to include more!!! It has been a real hoot meeting a lot of you at FtW & I look forward to meeting more!!

Great question!!

I remember that thread!! :rotfl: The jokes were otter-this-world after that!

When I first started, des1945 had a pic of a KEG COOLER/TAP in her signature, NTSAMMY5 had the MOOSEHEAD logo as his avatar, and Gatordad had a Kastle Burger in his signature.....I knew I had found my home! Id never been to a site that was disney based AND PARTIED LIKE ROCKSTARS!!!!

My wife found it actually. We had just returned from our first trip and we had a blast. I enjoyed the Fort and wanted more. So she ended up finding it somehow and she shared it with me. At first I was like no way, who gives a turd about the site, I bet they're all disneyfags. I said I'll look around, and then go on my merry way. Well, I was partially right, so i stayed. But the thing is, the people were cool, and that's why I stayed. I said maybe we'll meet friends like her parents did and get to camp with a group. The next time we were there, I'm in the gift shop, and some lady comes up to me and asks if I'm gatordad. Her name escapes me, it was like Largo Lucy or something (not unlike all of donnie's friends, you know minniepa4598 and stlouisgrumpy565). I was like wow, people do read the message board. The next person we met was donnie, and i was like, he seems cool and drinks. Then we met Kahuna and I was more hooked. Then BDR joined the forum, and it went all downhill.

the end.

haha That's one of the many things I like about WDW. It's great for families and its perfectly acceptable for adults to enjoy adult beverages (maybe not partying like Rockstars though, ha) Last month I was browsing World of Disney pushing a double stroller with one of these in my hand! :rotfl:

Then we took the boat back to the resort where we picked up another at the pool bar. The kids went swimming, while we sat poolside enjoying our drink and watching our kiddo's have fun....and we were surrounded by other parents doing the same thing.

drinking does make disney more tolerable. i never went into disney last year without at least 9 beers in the human cooler.

I don't remember how I came across the Dis boards. Maybe I googled it. This was when I was doing the planning for our first trip.

I enjoy all the people around here and you even get some good info sometimes. :thumbsup2
