Just Got Off - New Dining Rotation

I think that the second night is Formal night for the Mexican Riviera cruises so your ressie should be okay. I have emailed the concierge team last night asking for conformation of this. I will post when they respond to me. I think Formal night is the third night for the Western Carribean cruises. If I am wrong, I'm sure that someone will correct this information.

So you're going on the Mex. Riv? Yes, if you would confirm that formal night is still night two on Mex. Riv., I would REALLY appreciate it!

Am I understanding right that they are testing this on the Magic right now, but that it is really for the Mexican Riviera cruises? I'm booked in Oct 08 on the Magic . . . I guess the dust will settle by then.

This was very new this weekend and the honest answer is we do not know the full impact or length, some posters have tried to work it out, thats great, and will give an idea.

The posters from the ship have said this is for the Mexican cruises only, the guess is that they are in the testing mode now and it will be used for West cost only, No repos someone has that confirmed from DCL direct.

In 2005 they made changes for Mexico /West coast trips and they did revert back to normal after wards so at the moment post September should be back to normal, but again I would not post anything that I was unsure off, or was guessing on without stating it is a guess.

I emailed Small World Vacations who, as she was typing her response to me got another email from Disney with the following info:

Eastern Cruise-
Day 1 Casual
Day 2 Formal
Day 3 Casual
Day 4 Casual
Day 5 Pirate
Day 6 Semi Formal
Day 7 Casual

5:30 and 8:00 LAAPLAP
5:45 and 8:15 APPLAPL
6:00 and 8:30 PLLAPLA

Of course, this is subject to change as they find what works best. We sail in 3 weeks and it figures I've got Palo booked for what is now Pirate night.pirate:

I went back and re-read the email from SMV and she also says that they are testing out repeating nights 1 and 2 instead of 2 and 3. Not sure which rotation will stick.

Thank you for your post. Great to get direct info.

Don't Panic. Treky's information is incorrect. Formal night is on Monday and has the Master Chef menu.

SORRY But I am still stressed!

PALO - I think that they should have given more notice of the changes coming. I booked Palo the first Sunday in JANUARY!!!!! At least I have some heads up. I can't see how I am going to like this.

WESTERN 4/5
?????????????
Sat - Rotation
Sun - Rotation
Mon- Master Chef - Formal
Tuesday - Rotation
Wed - Pirate Night
Thurs - Semi Formal - Lobster
Friday - Till-We-Meet-Again

We did Palo on Master Chef night last time and that is when I have it booked for this time!!!(Tuesday!) With the above schedule I'd skip our "L" - rotation for Palo BUT WHEN WILL THAT BE!?!?!?!?!?!? It would be very tough if it were Sat. to leave the DDs on the first night! We plan to get to port by 10:00 so I figure that I can swap my Palo IF I KNOW WHEN I WANT IT!!!!

No - I don't like the changes. I can't see doubling the 1st and 2nd nights on Western because they can't put formal night on Sat or Sun(Key West). What would be the point?

Do I have that sort of correct above?

I thought I read here that Formal night was now on Monday, Key West night. Not Tuesday.:confused3

OOPS! Disregard, I just read post 52.

Can formal night really be on Monday, Key West Day on the Western? That really doesn't make sense. Formal night is always on a sea day, plus the "all aboard" for Key West is 7:00 PM to allow people to stay at Mallory Square for the Sunset festivities.
I think the first Western with the new rotation is this week..(am I right on that?). Maybe we have to wait until those folks are off and posting next week to know for sure?

Sunday is KW, not Monday. Formal night has always been on Mon., which is sea day. :)

So, with these new rotations, does anyone know when the character breakfasts are???

The character breakfasts will always take place on sea day mornings (including Key West day on the Western). It used to be that you had your CB the morning of the sea day following your first dinner at Animator's Palate. With the new rotation does that system still work? If so I would think it would be the same. If not we'll have to wait to see what returning cruisers say.

I actually like the thought of there being the same menu no matter where you eat on Formal Night. At least this way if you're in PC on Formal Night you're not eating chicken wings and ribs in your gown:scared:

I'm struggling with this one. Pirate night is now on night 5 on the Eastern? That's the night we leave St. Thomas. It's my understanding that they have to go full speed all the way from St. Thomas to Castaway Cay to make it on time, but this implies that they would slow down for the fireworks on the way back. Plus, don't they normally shoot off the fireworks very close to land for safety reasons? This way, they'd be doing it in the middle of the ocean.

Makes alot more sense to keep pirate night the night they're in St. Maarten to me.

I just got a response from the Concierge Team. She confirmed that for the Mexican Riviera cruises formal night is night two, pirate night is night 5 and semi-formal night is night 6. She also confirmed that there are new dining rotations. I requested PLLAPLA so we could be in Palo on the third night.

Hi Carole,
Thanks so much for the info! Did they happen to mention when the rotation dining in the restaurants would be? I know for our last cruise (Western, I think) one of the rotation nights coincided with formal night. I definitely don't want to miss AP on the rotation night!

Thanks so much,
Jennifer

I'm sorry. I didn't ask them that question. I was really concerned about when formal, semi-formal and pirate night were so that I would know when to book Palo. We are definately going to go with the third night for Palo.

Oh, Carole, you are my hero! Thanks for posting this. I was hoping night two would stay formal night. I had Palo scheduled for night 3 because we want to dress up night two and night three! I'm so excited.

Maybe I'll see you at Palo that night! :woohoo:

Odd - I just got off the Magic today. Our rotation was PLAPLAP (normal). BUT they swapped the menus between Sunday and Wednesday nights (we had the Lumiere's menu on Wednesday instead of Sunday). We had the 6:00 seating. I wonder if maybe they did the new rotations on the late seatings?
