Sky writing over disney

I don't know exactly where I read this but, its probably less than productive to discuss individual religious convictions or beliefs.

Nobody can "win" in that debate.

;)

:lmao:

Quite frankly, I think what he is doing is foolish and absurd. When I am on vacation at The World, I don't want religious doctrine or even remote traces of it shoved down my throat. And, no one can deny the fact that he is forcing it on people as he is doing it in a purposefully public manner. He wants people to read it. I personally find it annoying and wish something could be done to stop him. I'm sure it would never be allowed if it was an anti-Bush or of a non-Christian religion. Talk about double standard.

Last I heard there is still a thing called "Free Speech" in the U.S.A. He isn't forcing anything down your throat. He isn't forcing you to read the message. It is in the public just like any other billboard, advertisment, etc. A little sky writing isn't violating any of your rights.

Thanks Robo - It seemed so odd to us while we were there. "a form of outreach" lol they should just use the money to buy food for the hungry or something useful

Well, I guess whatever makes him feel like he's doing something important. It wouldn't be my first cause of action but . . .

Well then don't look up I suppose. I personally don't see it as being very productive or helpful to his cause but I'm certainly not offended by it. What do you mean it shouldn't be allowed? It's freedom of speech.

And so it begins...

I predict this is yet another thread that will soon be locked by the moderators. :sad2:

Well, I want to object to all the junk that I have forced on me too! Let's start with the Viagra commercials, birth control ads, commercials for venereal disease medications, not to mention the language and sex that is now considered "acceptable" on prime time TV. I find that much more offensive!

I posted my "message of peace" TWICE, but the debate and outrage races on...

Nobody "wins."

I have to agree with Nikki. I'm at Disney, I don't want to have to deal with somebody talking about religion. I guess I'm just prone to not like anything with people talking about religion after having my best friend send missionaries to my house to "save my soul" or having one of my RAs in college ask how I can live with myself for not believing in Jesus. I guess if I'm getting it in college I might as well get it at Disney. So much for the magic...

Last trip he ran out of smoke and wrote
"Jesus cares fo"
Everyone around us were laughing.
I think it is a tacky way of spreading ones belief.
What would Jesus Think?

Can I agree with both of you? Just because we HAVE free speech does not mean we SHOULD abuse it. I think our society has forgotten something about tact and taste in all the noise.

And I'll add, it's not just the kinds of ads you list - it's all ads. Everywhere I go I'm bombarded with ads now! I can't even pump my gas or get my luggage at the airport in peace! It's just NOISE NOISE NOISE! After a while you just tune it out.

If some guy wants to skyright his religion, sure, he CAN - but it's not tasteful. I don't get offended, but it isn't exactly making me want to emulate his value system either....;) I just prefer my religion in a more tasteful manner.

Free speech is a wonderful thing isn't it!!

What is so bad about reading Jesus Loves You? Why do people see the word Jesus and automatically think religion. I have heard that word used as a bad word (at Disney too)and never thought wow they sure have religion.

Last year at Disney we saw these messages in the sky and I never was offended or had to shield my kids eyes from them. Yet many times I do have to tell my kids not to look at certain TV ads and billboards.

Like someone else said we do have Free Speech. We don't always like what we hear or agree.

1. Read Robo's post in this thread(#12)
2. Read it a 2nd time
3. Move on to another thread

YEAH, RIGHT ON...and also tell him not to write "Have a nice day" when I'm at WDW with brazilian tour groups, angry moms with strollers, line cutters, heelie brats,etc...

I would be offended that he is trying to cheer me up when I'm in the process of building up some serious anger!:lmao: :lmao:

I have been meaning to ask this. We were at Disney 1/27 to 1/31. Each day different christian messages were written in the sky. Does anyone know why or who done this?

(hopefully these pictures work - my first time posting pics)

No - but theyve been doing it for several years now, and (I might be in the minority) but it annoys the heck out of me.

Ok...I have to say that people let the stupidest things annoy them these days. I mean, give me a break! No one is forcing you to make a decision to follow any particular religion. The message he is passing on is a simple one - that just happens to be true. Jesus loves you. Period. If you don't like it, don't read it. That is exactly what some of us have to do with all the obscenity out there today. It's called FREE SPEECH and whether some of you like it or not - that goes for ALL speech...even Christians can speak freely! *gasp*

Why is it that this bothers some people? Have we gotten to the point in this country where we can hear anything on television, the movies, or in public yet cry that we're "offended" when someone mentions the word God or Jesus? TC:cool1:

Not offfended - seriously. Annoyed. Much, much annoyed. He ruins my pictures - daily. I personally dont want happy faces, or Jesus loves you, in my pictures. Annoyed. Big time.

I agree. Is LONG LIVE SATAN, cool too? SELL YOUR SOUL TO THE DEVIL, alright? How about PARTY ON, WAYNE & GARTH? Freedom of speech my butt...

Don't look up.
Easily offended much?

Not offended. Truly annoyed. My scenic pictures have ridiculous saying's in sky - and Im tired of Photoshopping them out.

Free speech is a wonderful thing isn't it!!

I guess - when you agree with it, it is. Is COME SEE THE STRIPPERS AT THE PUSSYCAT CLUB TONIGHT AT 8PM, okay with you? Would that be okay if you were wandering EPCOT and saw that? I doubt it.

I remember before Disney was a no-fly zone and the Church Street Station planes with banners flew over head. Those annoyed me too.
