SOOZE 10 year Anniversary Getaway.. All DONE!

Hey, I am new to the site and your TR was one of the first I've read. Looking forward to reading more! :thumbsup2

Hi Sooze! I hope you are able to get a good night's rest despite the nasty storms coming through our area tonight...and I pray that there is not more damage in your already devastated town...my hubby had to go back out tonight with reports of widespread power outages...and that was well before it hit your neighborhood.

Can't wait for the next installment...you have me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how things turned out for you.

We spent about an hour in the basement last night, but the worst stuff was outta here by ten. I really wanted to be in bed by nine, but that obviously didn't happen!! Luckily, no damage.. everyone safe here in Avon!

My goal is to get an update done tonight! Check back later, or tomorrow morning!

Yayyyy, loving your new trip report, Sooze!! :cool1:

I have read your other reports too, but I don't think I ever posted to say hi - whoops!!

I especially loved the part in your last report about Shae playing with the water inside the upside down shells. For some reason, that image of her cute little finger inside the water-filled shells stuck with me, and now every time I see an upside-down shell, I think of your story! (Not that I see upside-down shells very often, but you know what I mean....!)

I'm a school teacher too, here in Australia. Yay, teachers!! :woohoo:

Anyway, keep up the great work!! It's so nice to read such a happy, positive report! :yay:

Okay, seriously.. is there a fast way to figure that out, or did you go through and count everything? Scott did this on his report and I was wondering how! Not that I need to keep tabs on everyone.. but it is kinda interesting!

go to the main tirp reports page. find your thread and click on the number of posts. a seperate box opens with the numbers.

Yes!! I have an Aussie on my TR. That makes me so happy!! I taught a color guard camp this summer and we had a group come from Australia. I could talk to them for DAYS.. just love the accent!

And a teacher on top of it.. how cool:cutie:

Thanks for enjoying my reports. The shell story is one of my favorite from that trip, and I know it's something I'll remember about Shae being that age forever!!

3rd place not bad. :woohoo:

Go you!! Still able to visit and comment on everyone's TRs, and whip out updates at lightning speed on your own!:worship:

ooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh!! Thanks! I was really hoping people weren't really counting all of that.. whew!

When you asked over on Scotts TR I replied with how to do it then did it here too :thumbsup2

Fortunately, the Enterprise place was easily accessible from the highway and we had no trouble finding our way to I-4. Unfortunately, we consider ourselves 'at home' in WDW, and didn't think we would need to ask directions to POR. For crying out loud, they have beautiful purple Mickey-ized road signs everywhere.. SURELY we can find a big resort like POR, right?:confused3

Yeah.. chock that up to eating a piece of directionally challenged humble pie!! Okay.. it wasn't THAT bad.. we only had to make ONE U-turn and we were on our way. But still, I hate not just being able to get to a resort like I live there!

The picture everyone has:

And, after only 1 U-turn:

The lovely Port Orleans Riverside:

We parked our car and headed in, every breath we took was overly-exaggerated as we breathed the amazingly refreshing DISNEY RESORT AIR!! I swear they have some kind of bio-air-machine-thingy that creates a special air at each resort. Each one having it's own smell, thin or thick-ness, and chill or warmth... seriously, I do!

After the line we had to wait in for the car, we were pessimistic about our check in at POR.. but, as pixie dust would have it, this is what we saw:

:cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1:

As DH was checking in, I noticed these honkin' HUGE paddle-like structures on the ceiling.. then I noticed they were moving.. ever-so-slowly. Anyone know what they are for? At first I thought... air circulation... then I realized how slowly they were moving.. not really fast enough to do any circulating... anyone know?:confused3

I was happy to see the TV in the lobby.. took note in case we ever bring the kids here.. but even happier to see the Mickey icon on the top! I should save this picture for "THE END" of my trip report, but then it would be out of order. We can't have that, can we?

We were given our map to help find our room. We were in Parterre Place on the 2nd floor. It seemed like a long drive, and I was concerned how far away from the main lobby we were, but we were to find out later, that the drive was far, but the walk wasn't... I'll get to that. We had to do a short treasure hunt to find our room #9725. The room was overlooking the quiet pool.. YES! But there was no hot tub there.. BOO! But we noticed a bridge connecting us to the main pool and food court.. YES! But it was a bit of a walk to the bus stop.. BOO!

Here's our 'mansion':

And some room shots:

Okay, we were so excited to see two queen beds. I KNOW, I KNOW.. we are on our ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY!! But to be able to stretch out in your own bed... you can't beat that! Come on.. support me on this one! If we were newlyweds, we might've been disappointed.. but ten years later.. we can appreciate a good night's sleep, no?

A happy hubby:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip017.jpg

finally, huh?

We were both starving, so after unpacking, moving in, and watching a few seconds of Stacey McAnnoying, we were off to the famous POR food court. Our mansion was just across the Sassagoula River from the main building. Such a beautiful walk on gorgeous resort grounds. It was peaceful and empty.. just heavenly!!

Bridge to main building:

Stopped by the big wheel.. dang that thing is MASSIVE. It wasn't moving for some reason, but was still impressive.

See the sweatshirt? Get used to it.. I wore it EVERY SINGLE DAY!! It just never warmed up enough for me to take it off.. except the very last afternoon we were there. I was going to by a new zipper-hoodie, but just couldn't find one I fell in love with enough to warrant paying $50 for!!

We both ended up getting bacon cheeseburgers with fries. I really wanted a big yummy salad, but they were so expensive. I knew at that moment that I'd be missing the Dining Plan!!

The food court was empty!! We found a table overlooking BigWheel and relaxed... took our time... took it all in.....:cloud9:

Back to the room for a 10 minute cat nap for both of us.. just enough time to rest the eyes and gather steam for the night. Matt was off to his convention and Sooze? She was off for a night on the town.. DOWNtown that is!!

YEAH!!!! You are there, the resort looks beautiful. I completely understand what you are saying about the beds by the way!!! :lmao: I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE. Tim and I are so excited when an installment comes up, I read them out loud like it's story hour and we look at the pictures together. It is outstanding! Keep them coming!

Hi Sooze! I saw you talking about your TR over on Scott's thread and came over to check it out just in time for the start!

Wow that rental car line was long! :scared1: Glad that everybody was in a good mood though, nothing worse than standing in a long line with a bunch of grumpy people.

:woohoo: on the no lines at check-in.

Perhaps the things on the ceiling are old fashioned fans to fit with the mansion theme? :confused3

Hi

I just found your report today. A perfect way to deal with the 12-16 inches of snow outside!

I'm in Chicago and spent 90 minutes driving to work to find the building cloccsed and an hour drive home!

I wish I was:cool1: in Orlando right now!

:woohoo: your there.

I have never noticed those things on the ceilings before. :confused3

Parterre Place is where we stayed in July and thought it was gorgeous.

The wheel was not turning for about 6 days while we were there.
