I admit, I am a TOTAL Zumba addict! I started to Zumba back in December and I still go twice a week (I'd go more often but the other Zumba's dont' fit in my schedule!)

I was downloading songs on ITunes and I found a bunch of my Zumba songs on there and I have been dancing around the house :goodvibes

So, who else here loves Zumba? What's your favorite song/dance? Where do you Zumba? How long have you Zumba'd?

Me- my fave song and dance right now is the Kumbia :goodvibes I Zumba at my YMCA that's like 5 min from my house! I have Zumba'd for about 3 mo!

I just started Zumba and I love it. It's so much fun, and holy cow my tummy is getting tighter by the day. I have to check out some more songs.

I am a HUGE Zumba fan! I go a couple times a week. I have been going for over 2 years and still love it. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. :lmao:

Yeah I know some of my friends start rolling their eyes when I start talking about Zumba!! :lmao: I'm always telling everyone to go!!!

The women I work with have gotten me into Zumba. I really enjoy it.

I just responded to the "diet" thread about Zumba! LOL

I started the first week of January...I go twice a week, at a local gym. I purchased a Zumba punch card (10 classes for $65). This gym also has a Zumba toning class, which I haven't tried out yet. It follows the regular Zumba class, and right now, I don't think I'm ready to do back to back classes.

Zumba is seriously the best exercise program I've ever done. I did a 12-week walk to run program last Spring, with a 5K at the end, and I swear I sweat more doing Zumba then I do running. I decided that I really don't like running anyway!

The best thing about Zumba is that it is so much fun that you don't keep looking at the clock wondering if it's almost done! :woohoo:

I will admit though that the instructor makes a WORLD of difference. The one at the gym is really dynamic and energetic, but she's had a sub already that was kind of on the boring side....

ok now yall have me interested...what exactly is it?

Could a pooh sized out of shape person do this? They have it at my gym and I have been interested. I can do 40 minutes on the pre-cor elliptical

YES!!

As long as you have hips, you can shakem baby!
Seriously, you do it as hard or as easily as you can. After a while, you build up your stamina, and you'll be working those curves as well as a mardi gras carnivale dancer!

The nice thing about Zumba is that you can pretty much customize the moves to what your ability level is. As long as you are moving, you are good!

I have a little bit of a hard time learning the footing for some of the songs...I've never been much of a dancer, so some of the salsa/cha cha stuff is a little challenging for me. I do the best I can!;) With time, I'm getting better. I also have a hard time moving my hips and doing the belly dance stuff, but again, I'm doing the best I can and nobody really cares how "wiggly" you are! I am still getting a great workout...I leave the gym soaking wet!

That's the idea!:thumbsup2 And the benefit is that you're learning how to do the salsa-style dancing and losing weight/tonong up at the same time. And you feel sexy doing it.

And my instructor told me that 1 hour of Zumba burns more calories than 3 hours on the treadmill :woohoo: And I believe it, I am noticing the difference in my clothes!!

Oh yes you can! Heck, I can't do that long on the elliptical and I do just fine in Zumba!! If you don't know what to do, just move around, I have found Zumba to be informal and FUN! My instructor says if your not having fun, get outta here!!!

Can any of you recommend a good Zumba DVD? I would love to try it with my middle school daughter, but she is a few years younger than allowed at our Y for adult classes.

Sorry I don't know much about the DVD's, but at my Y we have on Friday nights, its Family Zumba, and kids of any age can come and dance! Maybe you could suggest it to your Y, sometimes it takes people bringing up their needs for changes to take place.

I actually caught an infomercial on Zumba on Saturday. I think if you Google it, you can find the DVD's that they are selling.

I LOVE ZUMBA!!!:thumbsup2

I do it at the JCC, 2 days a week. They offer it 4 days a week, but only 2 fit into my schedule. It is SO much fun. Like the other people said, you do sweat a lot. . It is the shaking and the moving that make you sweat. I would say it is not a lot of jumping like some aerobics classes, but its the combination of the feet movement(trying to catch on to that)and the hips and arms going that you end up sweating like a pig.

I would say its high intensity but low impact, if that makes sense:confused3

For years I did Jazzercise which I loved. I tell people Zumba is like latin style Jazzercise;)

I thought I'd hate it, but I LOVE zumba. I try to do it at least once a week. Works the core, which I'm not used to but sorely need.
