Z's Accountability Journal (Comments Welcome)

good job with your eating and exercise.

Hope Dennis doesn't hit. It must be tough living in an area where you have to worry about hurricanes. We only have to worry about snow. :rotfl2:

Have a good day.

Sending prayers and pixie dust your way. I've been checking the news every few hours - Dennis is going to be about 150 miles west of us. We've just had lots of rain and wind. Our main concern is tornadoes.

Dennis sucked! :sad2:

Well on Sunday we supposedly got the eyewall of Dennis. I know the winds got pretty bad and we lost power about 4:00PM on Sunday. The storm peaked about 4:30 if I remember correctly. We didn't have any major damages around our homes. However, a man that lived across from our airplane hangar up the rode called to tell my dad and grandad that he thought it had gotten blowed down. They went out while the storm was still pretty bad just to see and sure nuf' it was leveled. It was very sad :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: . They had a Great Lakes Biplane that my dad had rebuilt, a Warrior that my grandad had bought 30 yrs ago , A Balanca, and a Starduster II. The Biplane had been picked up and flipped upside down, crushing the top wing and the tail  . The Warrior had been flipped upside down also, was covered in the concrete block walls that had collapsed and looked like someone had taken the tail and twisted it all the way around, 360 degrees  . The other 2 airplanes also had concrete blocks and metal beams on them :( . I told my dad that I would try to help them anyway that I could to clean up and so I helped them cleanup on Monday. Anyway, that night, I went and stayed with my sister and her little baby and husband. We played scrabble by candlelight (it was fun, but the novelty of this activity wore off pretty quick).

I got up at 5 on Monday so I would be ready at daylight to help my dad. We got over there and it was one of the worst things I have ever seen. It made me so sad    , but I can just imagine how my dad and grandad felt (these were there babies). I had so many memories in those planes especially the Biplane and the Balanca. When I was little we used to go to fly-ins and airshows. We always had so much fun, but now we can't fly anywhere  (not until they get them rebuilt anyway). To make matters worse, we heard that a film crew had gone on our property. Several hours after that we heard that the footage of the airport had been aired on GOOD MORNING AMERICA! It was so frapping annoying :faint: . After the initial shock wore off I went to it. I threw concrete blocks off of the warriors wings and part of its tail and moved various other piles of debris. I also helped them flip the biplane back over. They got most of it cleaned up on Monday but they did work some Tuesday and today out there. I tried to sleep Monday night but I didn't get very far with that plan. It was too hot  . I didn't sleep well at all!

I woke up Tuesday morning like it was Monday night. I was in no way refreshed. I didn't so much mind the heat as much as I minded not having light. I like light. It is my friend. I get ticked off and irritable when I don't have light. Anyway, enough ranting, Tuesday I did some cleaning and damage control in the kitchen (it's not like a tree fell through the roof or anything but the dishes don't get done unless the dishwasher works, so as you can imagine, grossness ensued). I also did my xtraining even though we did not have power. I went to stay with my sister that lives in Castleberry (not the one I mentioned before) because I wanted to talk with her (and she had power :teeth: ). I went to her house about 5PM and my mom called at 9PM to tell me that the power was back on :cool1: , so I decided to come on back home. I got home and I sat there thinking how nice it was to have light, an air conditioner, and a working refridgerator (oh yeah, and a working dishwasher  ).

Today has been just a normal day (thank the Lord). I heard that there is another hurrican headed our way and I am annoyed  . Throughout this whole ordeal, there have been some good things:

1. The guy wearing the sunglasses and the sexy army uniform that gave us ice on Monday.
2. The guy wearing the sunglasses and the sexy army uniform that gave us ice on Tuesday.
3. The guy wearing the sunglasses and the sexy army uniform (sans the long sleeved jacket, just the tan colored shirt :earseek: ) that I saw when I went to get ice for someone else today.
4. The fact that I weighed in at 199 today, so I am in ONEderland!

Congrats on reaching ONEderland. :cool1::cool1: You have worked so hard to meet your goal.

Sorry to hear about the hurricane damage. I can't even imagine what you and your folks are feeling. I know what it is like to be without electricity for an extednded time. When we lose our power we have no water either. The wonders of living in an area with wells and septic systems.

Hope your dad and grandad are able to restore the planes. Sending :wizard::wizard: your way to make you feel better.

I am sorry to hear that Dennis did damage that directly affected your area and your family. At least your family seems to know how to come together and get done what has to be done to get back to some sense of normalcy. I am sure that the news guys were frustrating, it is always better when they film someone else's lives.

Hopefully, the next storm won't affect you and hopefully, it won't take your dad and grandpa long to rebuild the planes. It's nice that they have such a wonderful hobby. I have never flown in a small plane, but have always wanted to.

As far as the sunglasses wearing army guy.............go strike up a conversation. You're cute and in ONEDERLAND, so WONDERS may happen. ;)

Have a great day. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Well we got all the debris moved from the airplane hangar. They moved all the planes home to our shop. I hope Hurricane Emily doesn't come our way :sad2: .

Hey Lesli, I think the army guys have moved on. They were from another state I believe. It doesn't matter anyway though, b/c I have always been to shy to just go up and talk to a guy. Oh and by the way, you have just compelled me to share my brief yet amusing history with guys.

I have only been on one date in my entire life :teeth: . It was my first year of college and I had just turned 17. Let's call the guy I went out with Bob. Now keep in mind as you read this that this was my FIRST and ONLY date. Numero uno. I didn't really know what to expect but I figured nice food, acceptable movie, nice drive home and maybe even a goodnight kiss if he was lucky. WRONG! We left and were going to get dinner first. We had previously discussed going to olive garden. On the way there, Bob turns to me and says so where did you want to eat. I said "You know, we had talked about olive garden, but whatever is fine with me if you want to change". BAD MISTAKE! So he takes us to Golden Corral (which is fine if you are having a family outing but on a date, Come on) which his mom conveniently owns so that we can eat free food. Also, this golden corral never plays radio stations it plays instrumental stuff but what do you know Savage Gardens I Knew I Loved You Before I Met You is playing over the stereo (which his mom has control over) before we even sit down. By this time I am a little ticked b/c this is not how I pictured my first date. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and appreciated his frugality(for about a tenth of a second).

Then it was on to the movie. It was in January so it was cold. We got over to the theaters and waited in line for about 30 min (keep in mind that we were supposed to see Kate and Leopold). We got up to the window and CheapO over here gives the ticket dude free coupons for the movie. The dude at the window refused them saying that they were expired. I expected him to just pay since they were expired (which could have been an honest mistake). He turns and tells me that he has NO MONEY  . He's on a date and he has no money. He is a freakin' idiot! Then he says he wants to go back to golden corral and ask his MOMMY what to do. I am still trying to be patient so I go with him back there. His mom gives us instructions on who we need to talk to to get us in free at the movies. She knew a manager at the theaters or something. We go back to the theaters and the guy that could get us in free had already went home. So just then, Bob spots some girls that he saw at a concert the night before. They say they are seeing Black Hawk Down and that they can get us movie tickets for free (at the time I didn't watch R rated movies b/c I wasn't mature enough, I don't even think I'm mature enough for some of them now). Bob asks me if we want to see it with them. This wouldn't be a problem if No.1 we hadn't already discussed in detail how I didn't want to watch an r rated fim with him and No.2 WE WERE ON A DATE. So I am pretty frappin mad at this point. I am just thinking watch the movie, ride home, it will all be over soon. Then came the worst part. Bob is still talking to these girls and one of them says "Hey Bob we don't have a ride home, would you give us a ride home". He doesn't miss a beat, and doesn't even look at me. Without hesitation he says "SURE". This is where it all fell to peices and I went off on him in the theater lobby. I kicked out of harness and went to tellin him "I THOUGHT WE WERE ON A DATE, YOU ARE AN IDIOT, HOW COULD YOU TELL THOSE GIRLS YOU WOULD BRING THEM HOME, YOU KNEW HOW I FELT ABOUT THE MOVIE SITUATION". Then I started crying and said "I don't give a crap what you do, but I am goin to watch Kate and Leopold and then I am going to call my sister to come and get me, so leave me alone". Then he turned all apologetic and was saying "No I'm sorry. What did I do?(Can you imagine someone this stupid?) Please don't call your sister b/c she will be so mad at me (and I was thinking you should be more worried about what I will do to you)." He then proceeded to follow me into the theaters and bug me during the movie. After the movie was over I was going to call my sister but I didn't want to bother her b/c it was late. I told Bob that I wanted him to take me straight home and to shut up and leave me alone. He brought me home but he didn't comprehend the shutup and leave me alone concept b/c I had to dodge his phone calls until my last year of college.

So there it is. It was a very traumatic experience. It's kind of funny :rotfl2: when I think about it now, but at the time I was distraught.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That was really good. I guess he was so stupid that he didn't even know it.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am really, really sorry that your first date didn't go better. Not all first dates go well, but that one takes the cake. Glad you went off on him! I had a blind date once (not usually good, but I have had one good blind date, that was w/ my DH  ). Anyway, I meet this guy at the mall (predetermined meeting place) and we were supposed to go out to eat and then play it by ear. Like you, I am thinking something nice. Well, I knew it was downhill when I saw him. :sad2: This was in the 90's, but the guy has a huge Impala, and is wearing a wing collared shirt open too far, wearing gold chains, and has a few gold rings on. Supposedly he owns alot of real estate. Yeah, maybe in the sections of town that I didn't want to venture into. I am thinking, "great, someone who hasn't learned that the 70's was 20 years ago". But, I thought it is one date, I will be nice and then never see him again.

He had no place in mind to eat and we drove and drove past alot of places. I quickly realized that we were not going to any nice place. Finally, he gets to the last restaurant on the strip and says, "well, I guess we ran out of places to eat, so we will stop here". It was your average mom and pop family restaurant. You know the kind that still display pies in the round cooler up front, vinyl covered booths, and hasn't had a face lift since the 70's. Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe his momma worked there. ;) I certainly was not expecting eggs and hashbrowns for dinner.

Anyway, the conversation was nil. Everytime he asked a question, I had a dead end answer. Partly because of the way he asked and partly on purpose. After dinner, he drove me back to the mall in silence. When we got there, he said that he didn't think things would go farther, dropped me off and pulled away. Trust me, I didn't want them to go farther. The date lasted less than 1 hr. and still that was too long. :sad2:

Some dates work and some don't. I am sure that your bad date for life is now out of the way, so there should be some good ones heading your way. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Has anyone else seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

I saw it today with my little brothers. I thought it was the best movie ever! Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors anyways but he had such a weird/fun/genius character this go round. I really liked it. It was the same basic story line as the older movie but it was completely different and it had a much darker tone. One of the funniest parts to me was when they were in the room where everything was made of candy and he said "Everything in this room is edible, Even I am edible, dear children, but this is called cannibalism and is frowned upon in most societies."
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
It was great! :cool1:

Lesli- Hilarious date story. I can just imagine from your desciption what that guy looked like! :rotfl2:

Goldcupmom-I did the Walk/Run Program for a half marathon that was in the back of the book Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham. It's a really good book. I would also suggest reading his books The Courage to Start and No Need for Speed. I got mine on Amazon for fairly cheap. I started out with the Courage to Start. It is a good motivating book! :cheer2:

LillyGator- Thanks for stopping by my journal and giving me some encouragement. I always like to be encouraged :grouphug:
