Zootopia missing from the stores...

There is LOTS of Frozen Merchandise. Even more on Star Wars. Finding Dory is everywhere now.

But they always just seem to have a tiny section for Zootopia. For a film that did SO WELL in ticket sales, it's poorly represented when it comes to merchandising. I really wanted something to do with Nick Wilde, and they mainly have baby t-shirts, some cups, and figurines. Very little variety - what's with that?

Maybe I'm missing something.

Idk. Maybe they could only get so much of certain items and Star Wars, Frozen, and Finding Dory are bigger movies.

Or maybe they had more right around when the movie was in theaters.

This! My kiddos have quite a bit of Zootopia toys, books, crafts, ect....mainly from Target. But noticed that then never restocked any of it and what they have left is mostly on clearance now. My kids favorite part was that they had different vehicles for the characters (very rare anymore). So there was quite a bit of merchandise. :)

My favorite was the recording carrot pet! Best $10 ever spent! :) Never was able to find it at the Disney Store and could only find it at the outlet. I honestly wished I could go back and buy a 2nd (in case ours breaks) but I know all the Zootopia merchandise is long gone. All they have left at our Disney Store are the water bottle/snack cups which on sale.

I was able to find ONE Judy Tsum Tsum at Target. My daughter is completely obsessed and there's nothing to be had.

I recall being at WDW the March following Frozen's release and being dumbfounded at the lack of merchandise for it at the time. Perhaps Disney simply waits to ensure they have a hit on their hands before producing big batches of merchandise. Or they simply didn't expect Frozen or Zootopia to necessarily be the big hits that they became.

My Target still has quite a few Zootopia Tsum Tsums, but still full price. If you need a certain one, just let me know and I would be happy to check for it. My girls love Tsum Tsums so I understand the "importance".

I noticed long ago is that Disney Parks "new film" merchandise strategy is for pre-release promotion. They'll stock and sell lots of stuff for the next upcoming film. But once the film is released, they do not restock.

IF the film is a success, then an entirely different department starts the very long process of merchandise brand strategy, designing, approving (multiple levels of approvals), manufacturing, shipping (often from China, by boat...they only ship so many times a year), etc. It can take up to a year for new merchandise to hit the parks again.

I don't think they expected Zootopia to be the big hit that it was, thus the lack of merchandise available. They do have a selection online, though.

This. Remember the scarcity of costumes and party items, etc. It's like they don't have confidence in the product until after the fact.

We would have loved to spend money in Judy and Nick!!

I think Zootopia REALLY taking off kinda caught them off guard, give it time. (Didn't the same thing happen with Frozen back when it first came out?)

I have noticed the same thing. I think you will see a lot more Zootopia merchandise out in the future because it was a very successful movie and the characters all lend themselves to toys and merchandise very well.

I know! :sad2: I've always liked foxes and really enjoyed the movie I was hoping the parks had more merchandise than I've seen but it doesn't sound like it. I have the Nick Wilde plush, but looked for shirts/accessories at the Disney Store online (for adults) and there wasn't really anything (they had some with side characters on them but nothing really with Nick or Judy).

I did find a cute ZPD hat from an online company though.

I have not been in Disney stores lately but after watching this video I just assumed there were lots of items......

:thumbsup2 Thanks! I decided to go with a Finding Dory one from the Disney online sale last week. Hopefully it's a success!

There was a bunch of Zootopia in early May. I guess with Dory coming out and the push for Star Wars.... There are lots of films that get pushed to the back of the stock room, I think.

Can we also included a meet & greet at Walt Disney World as well?
