Watching 2 1/2 hours of training videos in a zoom staff meeting that we could all watch on our own. There's not enough coffee in the world. At least being at home I can do things like post on Dis while I pretend to listen.
The CEO of our company likes to have all employee meetings every few weeks not on Zoom but similar for an hour or hour and a half. Most of the info does not apply to the majority of us so I tend to read or go on this or other boards as luckily the way we do this only him or other higher ups who talk you can see and hear. The laptops they gave us to work from home are slower and have all types of issues and they reduced our hours for 2 months so our work is behind. We are doing the best we can to catch up but our manager complains sending e-mails and instant messages all the time. Not sure if it is just her or if she is hearing something from her manager but it ticks me off. Our time is wasted with not only the meeting mentioned in the beginning of this paragraph but my manager likes to have a meeting with our team every few weeks and the company has decided we needed to have other meetings or trainings not related to our jobs but things that could wait a little bit until we can get back on track that lasts an hour and a half to 2 hours. Thanks for letting me respond and vent.
We still have to physically go to work, yet even in our offices we have video meetings with everyone our department. We're literally right next door to each other. Before and after, people are walking around congregating anyway.
This post reminds me of a story my middle DS told me earlier this summer. He was taking a break from his "work from home" schedule to kayak on the lake he lives on, only to be seen by his boss............who was on his pontoon at the time with his young children. They still laugh about it. My son had no clue his boss lived on the other side of his lake!
Since then his boss has invited my son and wife to join him several times on his pontoon.
