Zenni Optical ?

How do you all pick out glasses online? What if you have astigmatism?

I have my prescription from Lenscrafters and I would love just a cheap extra pair. Is it easy to do this? I have always wanted to try, but it seems so intimidating to try and buy glasses online.:confused3

My husband has astigmatism and has been through 3 pairs of Zenni Optical glasses over the last several years. He absolutely loves them and has NO problems with them. His generally cost about $100 (progressive lens, titanium frames, and other extras), but that compares very well with previously paying several hundred dollars for them. He just uses his prescription to order them.

I heard about these before but I have trifocals, do they do those?
I would love to have multiple pairs of glasses like my friends.

We ordered from Zenni optical for the first time this year. They are amazing!!! I bought one on the really cheap pairs to wear around the house because my baby girl is constantly pulling on them and if they break...oh well... They were super cheap. I have two other pairs for "going out" and a pair of sunglasses from them. My hubby has horrible vision so we had to get the high index lenses for his glasses and they are perfect. One thing I would say is that the cheap frames are just that...but all the other pairs I bought frames that were $19.95 and up and the quality is great!
For the pupil distance, I told the eye doctor that I had glasses from that I needed to buy a backup pair online so that I could bring in my frames that I bought from them originally to get the new prescription. Since they needed to send the glasses out to do that and we couldn't be without glasses, they had no problem giving me the pupil distance.
For the adjustments, all of mine came fitting perfectly. My hubby orders two pairs of glasses and one pair of sunglasses and only one of the pair of glasses needed adjusting. We went to LensCrafters at the mall...they didn't even ask a question! Just quickly adjusted it and we were on our way!

Link fron zenni website to show you how to measure your pd (pupilary distance) using a ruler. Very simple.

You have to be super exact though. I used a ruler and was off by 7 Mm. I ordered my glasses and had major headaches. Went in next year demanded my PD since they measure it anyway and it is my medical record so my right to know me the new eye doctor had no problem giving it to me. Ordered a new pair and the headaches went away and the vertigo stopped. Eye doctor said it was probably because my original pair had the wrong PD so the center of the prescription was off this throwing off my vision and subsequently causing headaches and dizziness. Don't know if it is true but that's my experience.

It seems like you would have benefitted from measuring a second time..

My pd is 60mm
My 16 yr old is 58
My mom is 60
My dad is 62
My best friend is 62

If you can use a ruler , you will know your pd.

That's what we did and didn't have any problems at all.

7mm is actually quite a bit so I'm sure that did make a difference. I would definitely recommend measuring more than once to be sure. :)

Thanks for the insult. I can in fact use a ruler. Nice to know we can be adults about the situation.

I measured with my glasses on because I can't see with out them and that is where the issue came from. Also tried from a picture seeing as I was single at the time living on my own and had no one else to do it. Both were off enough to cause problems.

My eye doctor even told me it is very difficult to get a accurate PD with a ruler.

The last time I purchased a pair of glasses from my local eye place, the price was over $300.

I just purchased a pair from zenni for $12.

I was nervous about measuring my own pd. I measured it, then I called zenni, told them how I measured it and asked them if they thought I was measuring correctly. They were very friendly.

sorry you didn't find a way to take advantage of the savings but perhaps my info can help others who are reading here.

I order from Zenni actually just got 2 new pairs today. I was just warning people that if you can get your PD from your eye doctor it is much better than doing it yourself. I have had no problems since getting my PD professionally measured.

My son's took three MONTHS to arrive. They ship from China and if yours are in batch that gets caught in customs, good luck

That's exactly what happened the one time I ordered from Zenni. It took weeks for my order to arrive, then the Rx was wrong and they wouldn't do anything about it. Never again.

I like Coastal for inexpensive, quick (and accurate!) glasses.
