Ok, I read somewhere that YY is going to be Asian Fusion food. What is Asian Fusion food??? Had Chinese, Japanese but don't know what Fusion food is...

From what I've experienced, Asian fusion refers to food that has its roots in traditional Asian cuisine, but is more more modern and is influenced by western tastes, as well. For instance, Peking duck is a very traditional Chinese dish, but hoisin glazed salmon with a spicy fried rice timbale is Asian fusion. Asian fusion restaurants also often serve dishes influenced by more than one Asian country's cuisine. You might end up with Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Korean inspired dishes all on the same menu. I've even seen some Chinese-Latin fusion restaurants.

It's all pretty confusing, but it can result in some amazingly inventive and fantastic tasting food.

:thumbsup2 Great explanation, and I have to say, I do love me some good Chino-Latino!!!

I just realized that I stuck Korean in there twice! One of those should be Thai. I'm probably fixated on Korean because one of my friends keeps saying we should get together for bibimbap, but Korean food remains one of the only Asian foods I haven't tried.:guilty:

You can go to

www.yakandyeti.net

and see what is probably going to be the menu. I can't imagine that two different restaurants would have the same name.

Oh geez, that looks like a lot of Indian food........... which doesn't sound like Asian fusion at all. Also, I thought it was being done by the same guys who do Rainforest Cafe? I can't imagine they would have a webpage as bad as that one if that is the case. And I would think they would mention the other Landry's resturants on their site too, but they just say some other Indian one.

Okay I've convinced myself that it won't be Indian food, unless I'm completely wrong about who was going to be running it :D I feel better now because I'm really looking to try out the new resutrant, and Indian food just isn't my thing :D

Lots of restaurants have the same name. That's not related to the one opening in WDW. It would be great if it were a lot of Indian food IMO.

In addition to the T-Rex concept, Landry's has acquired the majority interest in Schussler Creative's new Asian themed eatery (which is expected to open by summer 2007) inside Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. This Asian-themed restaurant with retail is reminiscent of the western Himalayan foothills in India and Nepal, featuring a rural village called Anandapur in a jungle with a tiny town-like mass at its center. Asia will offer full service table dining, as well as quick service food. This Asian-Fusion concept will feature Asian decor, complete with Asian antiques, as well as a retail component that will offer Asian goods ranging from Sushi plates to chopsticks and fine teapots.

Especially not that name. It has been said Y&Y isn't Disney-owned, so it could be. Bet the menu won't be nearly as extensive though.

Thanks for the site. These look pretty good to me. Think I will try it when we go...

That restaurant in Colorado is not associated with the Disney Yak and Yeti. There is also a Yak and Yeti restaurant in Sydney, Australia and a Yak and Yeti hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal. They're not associated either. As I posted above, Landry's has acquired the majority interest in the restaurant.
