You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

Sounds like some great AK fun!

Kristen I'm glad Chris didn't get eaten by the hippo! I'm sorry, those vultures are super creepy! I would have been freaked out by them too!

Sound like you had a lovely, airconditioned time at FOTLK! I love the picture of little guy asleep! Too cute!

I'm glad he enjoyed his first Mickey bar!! Yummy!

I love BOTH of the shows in AK! So glad you got to see them, Ladies!

Funny that it worked out that you were all there in the Lion King show together and it wasnt' even planned.

Kids are funny like that.... going full tilt one minute, and sleeping the next. :lmao:

They are great, aren't they?!

It was funny because I texted her something like "Where are you guys now?" and she says "Walking into FOTLK." and I said, "That's where we are!!" haha

It was pretty funny how fast he fell asleep!

Just wanted to let you ladies know that I started my TR!

Thanks. I was so excited about that outfit! :)

He did great!

Whew! Thank goodness Chris was able to escape the hippo! :lmao: Great pictures of the gorillas, and I can't believe you actually saw the lion awake!!! Lucky girl! :goodvibes

He was lucky to escape the hippo! haha It was great to see the lion awake for the first time!

LOL the picture of Chris with the ears is hysterical!!

hahaha yes he looks so funny!

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PICTURE OF CHRIS! :rotfl: Tell him he needs to make this his facebook default. Bahahaha.

The gorillas on the trail are definitely awesome. I love how they always pose for pictures & eat up the attention they get.

How cool that you & Tink ended up in the same Lion King show without planning it! Great minds think alike huh? :thumbsup2

I wish I could get him to put that as his default!

I loved the gorillas, they were posing up a storm.

Tink and I are always on the same wavelength! haha

Great Updates Tink and Kristen! I love that you ended up in FoTLK together :) That was DS's favorite his first trip @14 months. He was in awe throughout the whole show. At some points, he was jumping and grunting with delight. When we were there in 09 however, he had a major meltdown. He was a nightmare and I swear he was EXHAUSTED. I'm looking forward to taking him to see it again because he'll almost be 5.

Looking forward to more :)

Thanks! It was funny we ended up in the same FotLK show. That show is so amazing. Us adults get exhausted on a WDW trip so I'm sure your son was just pooped!

Great updates, girls!

Kristen - that was an okapi. Awesome that you got to see the lion up and walking around. It is always exciting to see him standing.

Your Pangani pictures were great! :thumbsup2

tinkgurl - Sweet pictures of Little Guy all caught up in the show and then out like a light. That happens to our girls, too. It's just easy to give it up quickly whenever you sit down in Disney World after going and going and going!

Keep all those Animal Kingdom pictures coming! :dance3:

Thanks you for reminding me of the name of the okapi! I was so happy to see the lion up and walking around!

Sounds like some great AK fun!

OMG I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the vultures are totally scary...thanks Melissa!

The heat was killer so the shows with A/C were very necessary!

Oh Tracy you must see FotLK! Nemo isn't really one of our personal faves (mine and Chris') but still worth seeing at least once!

I'm scared of all birds so those vultures are just too much! I agree they should not be on the AKL savannah, who wants to see them?!

Chris is a funny guy! haha

Did you see the list of the nation's counties with the highest taxes in Newsday last week? Suffolk was #11! Nassau was #2! It's disgusting and a big part of the reason why I won't live here forever :(

:scared1::scared1::scared1: WOW that is crazy.

I am finally all caught up. FOLK is one of my regular "must dos". I enjoy the tumble monkeys.... well actually one in particular. :lovestruc

Can't wait to hear more about your day.

OMG I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the vultures are totally scary...thanks Melissa!

No, no your not! Actually, DH and I are staying at BLT next week and heard there are tons of vultures flying around over there! So, now I'm freaked out! Great way to start a vacation!

Hey Tinkgurlfriend!!! and Kristen!!!

I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with your TR as well as I should be but I'm here now! I've caught up on everything and as usual your updates are so great! I love hearing the two different perspectives at once and as I've said before the Little Guy is just tooooo cute!! Especially when he was posing in his Simba outfit at FOTLK :rotfl:

Tink, I'm not crazy about the Mission:Space area music either LOL! I listen to tons of WDW area music at home, and that is one I often skip.

The Little Guy looked so enthralled watching the AK welcome show it made my heart melt! Reminds me of myself during the MK welcome show, hahaha. I have never seen the one at AK but I can't wait to on our next trip!

I really wanna try Tusker House. My favorite thing is how the characters are all dressed up in their safari gear! Little guy is so cute holding onto Daisy for dear life.

Kristen, I love your Pangani pics! I don't recall seeing that animal you don't remember the name of who is related to the giraffe... but it looks so cool! I love the striped legs. Lucky you got to see the lion up and about. I don't know if you read that part in my TR but the same thing happened to us and I freaked out! It's really indescribable how exciting it is to see a live lion up and moving like that!

How come you guys didn't wanna watch Nemo? It's so amazing, you HAVE to see it one day!

Tink, I love that picture of the giraffes in the trees from your safari! I was also waiting for the broken bridge part and it never happened. That was back in April, so if it happened to you in July, maybe they're just done with it!

I've never been in Pizzafari, but I love that mural! I know there has to be Hidden Mickeys in there! I couldn't find any in your pic though..hmm..

Great pics of Nemo!! You brought me right back there! I especially love your pelican pic, being up so close is a totally different view of it. Awesome!!

Whoa sorry for the super long reply but I missed a lot. Promise I'll keep up better!

Last time we left off, Chris and I wanted to do two more rides before we left AK; Dinosaur and Kali River Rapids. We planned to grab FP’s for whichever one had the longer wait time (based on the times board) and ride the other one stand by. So we were headed up to the times board to check it all out. But first, I realized now as I look through photobucket that I left out some of the picutres of the little show that was going on over where the Pochahontas show used to be.
270.jpg

271.jpg

When we got to the times board, KRR was listed at 65 mins and Dinosaur at 45 mins so over to KRR we trekked. When we got there, the wait time listed outside the ride was only 40 mins! Our experience thus far (actually every time we’ve been at WDW together) has almost always been that the wait time is longer than how long it actually takes to get through the queue. So rather than walk all the way over to Dinosaur and have to walk back to KRR, we just got on the line! We were sweating so badly at this point and were seriously looking forward to getting soaked on this ride. We knew we would dry really fast and only planned on riding Dinosaur afterwards before heading back to Pop for a break. I took a bunch of pictures of this queue because it was SO well themed.

276.jpg

So hotttttt!
277.jpg

278.jpg

Well, it turned out to be a smart move on our part to just wait stand by because we were through the line and off of the ride within 30 mins! This was our first time on KRR and we loved it except it’s SO SHORT! We were like, “it’s over?!” Just as we hoped, we got drenched! Each of us ran into the bathroom to ring out clothes (and my hair) out a little bit since we were dripping. Aside from wishing it was longer, I wish you were allowed to take your shoes off on this ride. We both lucked out and our feet didn’t get wet but we both had on socks and sneakers which would have been super uncomfortable if they got water in them.

As I said, our last order of business was Dinosaur. We walked the long, hot walk over there and the wait time said 50 mins.
279.jpg

However, the line was LONG. VERY long. Longer than we’d ever seen it before, wrapping all the way around the side of the building and through a little maze of trees and whatnot. We got on line, walked throught the whole thing to the end and then realized we just didn’t have the gumption to wait. The line was so long and we were so hot we knew it was time for us to get going. I was bummed at first but I knew we had more time planned later in the week at AK so I got over it fast! Off to the front of the park we went to catch a bus back to Pop!

We got to the bus stop at 12:55 and the bus came within 15 mins. I can’t say enough how much I loved the proximity of Pop to AK. We were back to the resort in a matter of a few mins and headed right for our room. We wanted to go here
280.jpg

but needed to relax a little first. We both laid down and fell asleep for a short nap. I was up by 2:30 and at 3:00 I headed down to the pool. Chris wasn’t quite awake yet so I said I’d call him in a half hour to wake him up so he could join me. I put on my bathing suit, grabbed a magazine and my trip journal and headed down to the pool! I actually went to the Hippy Dippy pool though, not the Bowling Pin pool because I wanted to hit up the Petals pool bar! I grabbed a chair by the pool and ordered myself a Pina Colava! That was my first time trying one of those out but it definitely wouldn’t be my last! It was sooo yummy and I was sooo happy and relaxed until I spilled some of the red part on my white Vera! Luckily I had a water bottle with me and put water on it right away and it came out, thank goodness. I sat there reading my magazine and drinking my drink, totally relaxed and in my happy place. I was so content, I just didn’t even want to think about this vacation being over. It was perfect. I jumped in the pool for a bit then called Chris to wake him up. He joined me by the pool around 3:45. We hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast so we decided to go into the food court and grab something to share. We ended up getting a Turkey Ciabatta sandwich. Yummm, it was good!

We hung out by the pool a little while longer and headed back up to our room to get changed around 4:40. The tentative plans for that night were to join Tink and her family at the CR to watch the fireworks from the balcony there and then do some swimming so we packed a bag to bring with us to the park with our suits in it. Cleaned up and ready to go, we headed out to grab a bus to our nighttime destination, the Magic Kingdom! I took this picture while waiting for the elevator in our Pop building.

Honestly, I was remembering how long it took us to get from ASMo to the MK when we stayed there in 2009 and expecting the ride to be about the same length. Maybe it’s just because the AS buses are shared between all 3 resorts but the trip from Pop felt sooo much shorter! Pretty soon we were here again, basically heaven.
295.jpg

We had no real destination so first we went in here
296.jpg

And checked out these, all of which I wanted

We walked through the connecting stores and here is where I first really got pulled into wanting a D&B bag
300.jpg

I need to give a little background info here. I knew that Chris had planned 2 surprises for me as my birthday gifts for while we were in WDW. Dawn helped him plan and pick 2 things and for the one surprise, which I didn’t know at the time, he kept calling the bank and checking his account to see if the money had been pulled out yet. For whatever reason he thought it was supposed to come out the week we were there, before the surprise actually happened. Anyway, he told me that if the money didn’t come out for the one surprise he would buy me a D&B instead. So, no purchases were made quite yet.
