I didn't go to WDW until my honeymoon when I was 24. I didn't grow up a Disney person. I knew the characters and stuff but never saw any of the classic movies or anything. My wife convinced me to go there for the honeymoon and I am so glad she did. We stayed at the GF and the place was beautiful, the service was outstanding, etc...
I don't go many times a year like some. I don't decorate my house in Disney like some. But I still love it. I have read Walt's biography and it made me really appreciate the place that much more. (In fact, I reread it before each trip). If I am not there I am trying to figure out how to get there ASAP again. I am saving to get there. I am always checking for deals. Now I even train for my next race (which give me another chance to go FYI,
)
I just had my 3rd solo trip this month. I signed up for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler as motivation to get in shape. It worked.
My friends don't understand why I love it so much. My future ex-wife (yes, the one who convinced me to go) says I am obsessed. I don't care. Many people in this world have much more severe addictions that being "addicted" to Disney.
I don't like the beach so for me why wouldn't you love Disney? You go, they take care of everything from the minute you step onto Magical Express to the minute you go back to the airport. You can either relax at a resort or you can be non-stop your whole vacation if that's your preference. You can get just about any kind of food you want. You can see shows, fireworks, parades, and electrical parades on the water. You can drive a train through a hotel. You can improve your health and take up running. I just began running this year and have only done 3 races. The Disney race was not only the best, it was one of the most fun and best things I have ever done at WDW.
And, all of this is possible because of one guy who nobody believed in and just about everyone thought he was out of his mind with some of his ideas. It isn't just a vacation spot for me. It is a symbol of what a person can do when they believe in themselves and work toward their dreams. Is there another person who has lived that has touched people's lives in a positive way more than Walt Disney?
