Which restaurant would you choose and why?
All three restaurants seem very nice. Obviously the Brown Derby is the most expensive, and it seems like Mama Melrose's give you the most food for your money?
I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on the Fantasmic Dinner package and their selection for best restaurant??? :wizard:

We did Mama Melrose for the FDP last week. It was great! Tons of food, more then we could eat. Service was great! We will do it again next time we go.

Two years ago we did Mama Melroses - we really enjoyed it. Last year we added days onto our trip and could only get Hollywood and Vine - didn't care for it at all, but we had a bad server so that may have influenced our opinion. This year we booked Brown Derby. We went there for lunch last year and loved it so we figured we'd try it for the FDP. Hopefully we'll be able to get a later time though - right now our PS is for 4:00!

Does anyone have a menu for what they offer for the FDP or is it the same as every other reservation? :confused3

I heard somewhere that they have a specific menu for people on the fantasmic package which I hope is not the case..Anyone know if you can order anything on the menu? thx

Brown Derby 1999
Very disappointed. Our waiter was totally disinterested in waiting on us. Not a good experience. Food just okay.

Hollywood and Vine 2002
Only package left when we decided to do this. Big surprise!!! We enjoyed this immensely and we generally hate buffets. The right price and NO waiting in line for a Fantasmic seat! A beautiful thing...

Brown Derby 2004 (solo!)
Lovely lunch but not the Fantasmic Dinner! Food and service were superb.

Based on the price and age of children, I would pick Hollywood and Vine! :goodvibes

Brown Derby---4 meals, no one liked theirs. Not picky eaters either

Mama Melrose---3 meals, only one everyone liked and picked off the one plate.

Hollywood and Vine---I would have to disagree and say that being a buffet, this would probably be the most food for your money. AND I would say the best choice for the Fantasmic Pkg. There's something for everyone. We had 6 people in our party and everyone enjoyed it. Only problem is that by Disney standards there is not allot of "theming", but I think it's the best choice for the Fantasmic Pkg.

Have never done the fantasmic package, but absolutely love the Brown Derby! Never miss a chance to dine there when in MGM. Servers may be hit or miss though, but I would say that's true anywhere.

I have to give H&V a vote. Last two times we have gone there and we will again in June. Buffet and something for everyone. We did Mama Melrose and DS and I didn't care for it. I won't do Brown Derby as most things I can't eat on the menu and DS wouldn't like it. I figure H&V is about what dinner would cost anyway so nothing lost on it if it rains either.

We love H&V. The kids love the ice cream dessert in the center and the desserts from the bakery now are wonderful!!

We can't pass up Mama Melrose.

We were given a menu, that said Fantasmic package on the top, but I think most of the entrees were on it.

You ge one flatbread per 4 people, and a salad, to share (they will bring you more) I got the salmon, which was great. DH ordered the roasted chicken, which was also very good.

We always eat at Hollywood and Vine. We love the buffet and like to eat a variety of food at our pace. This seems to work great for us. We can eat as fast or slow as we want and only have to count on the waitstaff to bring us our drinks. The faster access to Fantasmic is priceless for us. It allows us to eat and walk right into the show and the other time we can walk around go on rides etc.

We've tried both Hollywood and Vine and Mama Melrose's, and everyone in our party far preferred Mama Melrose's. The atmosphere and server made the experience much more enjoyable, and we felt the food was superior.

Since Mama Melrose is one of our favorite WDW restaurants, and we eat there even without the package, Id definitely vote for that one.

Another vote here for Mama Melrose.
This is one of our favorite WDW restaurants :flower:

We chose H&V because it was the least expensive of the FDP choices. We were very pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the food. With it being a buffet, we weren't expecting great things. But there were many delicious choices and we all left with very full tummies! :goodvibes

Ditto - the food was excellent IMHO.

We've done the package at least 4 times now and all 4 times were at H&V because its the cheapest, most kid-friendly and we all enjoy the buffet.

Having said that, we're ready for a change now that our kids are going to be 6 and 9 on our next trip and I'm planning on booking Mama Melrose because of all the nice things I've heard about it.
