Your TOP 5 BUDGET FINDS on this forum?

I saw it first on the Dis boards - the $10.00 off coupon for the Toy Story combo blu ray/dvd pack!

I learned about the Toys R Us presale deal for Toy Story 1 & 2. I ended up getting Pixar Shorts for free and still got to use the two $10 off coupons on TS1 and TS2!

Well, I just saved $100 b/c of the Transportation forum. I had NO CLUE Jet Blue was announcing this week they are starting to fly out of Hartford. Jet Blue opened up dates yesterday morning (except Hartford), out of Boston was about $249 pp. This morning the Hartford flights were available and were $199 pp!

My best find here was the code for 12% off the monthly T-Mobile cell phone bill!

New Moon coupon-DVD cost me $1
Crocs sales

Second Best Deal Ever for ME
Buying my Cinderella Carriage Pearl Cage in advance from ebay for $6!!

BEST Deal EVER for ME!!
Buying Disney trading pins on ebay from zoopaws09 and buying again with the disboard discount!! ($100 for 100 pins + shipping)

.

Best deal by far for me was when someone posted about getting a free Silver Dividend Miles trial account from US Air. We were booked a flight on US Air for three of us to Punta Cana at the time, and I signed us up. We got free checked luggage for the round trip - saved us over $150. We got to skip all of the lines at security and check-in. PLUS, we got upgraded to first class for the flight down!!! Total score. I don't remember the OP, but I was so grateful!

1. Kohls 30% off codes to use online
2. Restaurant . com (Great when there are 80% off savings)
3. House party . com (Even though I have been getting rejected lately)
4. ChaCha (I used to make lots of money doing this)

5. Weekly Freebies thread (Thank you Baby)

Hi!

Great stuff. I have a question what exactly is number 3 and 4? Never heard of House Party or Cha Cha.

Thanks again!
Brunette

(Enjoyed reading about everyone's savings!! Thanks you!):)

A few years ago (2003) you could order vouchers for counter service meals at WDW. They were a great deal and I learned about them here on the DIS.

My best budget points from the DIS

1 - Restaurant.com and it's %off codes
2 - American Girl sales and codes

and my very best
3 - ***************.com for earning free Disney GiftCards

Hmm, so many, but my favorites were:
$25 Maclaren Volo from TRU
the now prohibited photopass share
reduced price tickets from Mousesavers
renting DVC points

10 free round trip tickets on Air Tran (in exchange for 2 gazillion Wendy's cups).

112 free 2 liter bottles of soda from the Coke/Olympics promotion. (We shared with lots of people).

There have been several. Here's a few:
Saving even more $ than buying brand name on sale by making my own laundry detergent
Using inexpensive washcloths instead of paper napkins
Lots of stuff from the freebie thread
Mousesavers for staying at the HoJo when visiting DLR/DCA
Photopass pre-order (It's back now!)

I've been a "Budget Boarder" for years...I've always loved finding bargains and getting good ideas from this forum. The "I sold my gold" thread helped me bring in about $1500 from stuff I had just lying around--that was HUGE for us (especially at the time!). And I learned about AFVC (Armed Forces Vacation Club) and SkyAuction here, which has both saved and cost us money, LOL (once we paid for a week in a condo and had to cancel the trip, but with no refunds were out the $$--fortunately, under $300). This year we have a week booked in a condo for $249 total. Other things I've used: Restaurant.com, Brita bottles for the parks (discontinued, but I bought a bunch of filters when I heard about them so we have many left :)), a special ticket offer years ago via Ticket Mania, and various deals at stores/online.

Thanks everyone!! :goodvibes

I bounce around and read several of the forums whenever I'm planning a trip so I don't recall exactly which board I was on when I found out about some of my money savers. But the stuff I recall:

Getting DS a pair of "free" tennis shoes (Reeboks I think) for a $25 donation - once he hit a size 13, inexpensive tennis shoes became very hard to find. Esp good name brand ones.

Windsor Hills condos - much as we love being onsite, the space and amenities at WH (usually for well under $100 a night) are hard to beat. We also save money on food when we're there by making use of the full kitchen.

Finding out that the "no outside food" policy at the parks had changed (or just wasn't being enforced). Last trip we got hit with some major car repair bills right before the trip so we had to cut some corners. We took a small backpack cooler filled w/bottled water and snacks to the parks everyday and saved a bundle.

American Girl deals - all of DD's AG dolls have come from QVC and I've gotten a pretty good deal everytime. Also heard on the budget board about free shipping codes from AG and their big sale the Monday after Thanksgiving. I was able to get DD some extras I might not have bought otherwise. I think I saved about $30 just on Kit's kitchen plus what I saved on all the little doll outfits, kitchen stuff, etc. DD had a very nice Christmas.:goodvibes

Hands down: Getting a Super 8 room before our 7 am flight to WDW in 2008 for $8! Read it on the Dis, parked several family members at phones (not unlike dialing for CRT ADRs;)) and scored on the third night. Otherwise, we would've had to leave at 2 am for our long drive to the airport.:dance3:

Our other major score was the old Ice Cream Social at Garden Grill. It was a "character meal" for like $7 or $8. I read about it years ago when I just lurked, and sadly, I think it stopped in 2004 or something. We did that several times.

And Bing Cashback! I have over $100 sitting there waiting for our next trip just by Xmas shopping online deals I was already saving money on!

Have you used SkyAuction much? I'm a little nervous about using it . I saw a few bad reviews on it. There seem to be some great deals on there right now though.

Also, for everyone else: I learned about restaurant.com here and have used it several times. I , too, purchased the Disney dining vouchers when they were around (wish they still were). Can't think of anything else I've found out on here but I'm sure there is something!

So many....
The detergent at Sear's was great, I'm still using it.
The best deal I got was the Mickey Mouse 19" TV for DD, it cost $26.00!!! Free pick up at my local Sear's (I think it may have been an error, but I jumped on it as soon as I read it here.
I have saved with lots of Target deals that were posted as well.

Question about the Sears detergent...what is it called, and how much is it? Is it a good deal all the time, or just when it goes on sale? I'm going to need to get more detergent this week sometime. :)

Some of my favorite "finds" on this board are the Disney DVD coupons, DMR codes, and Redbox codes (back when they were not one use only).

Ooohhh I forgot about the wendy's cups! It ended up I got enough for 2 round trips, but someone on freecycle asked for them to take her daughter to a hospital in Denver. She was willing to bring me paperwork and everything! I didn't ask but I did get to meet her daughter when she came to pick them up. That was priceless!

Jet Blue out of Hartford is exciting!

From what I recall, we've used it a total of 4 times...once very successfully during Christmas '03 (got 2 back to back weeks at a timeshare condo for under $700 total); then twice when we had to cancel (once for friends who asked us to bid and then had to cancel, and another time that we had to cancel due to a family emergency), and although everything seemed to go smoothly with the bid/win, we didn't actually stay at the condo so I can't say that was a success); now this year we did a buy it now resort certificate and have reserved a condo week in Nov/Dec. Hopefully all will go well with our stay! :)
