Your thoughts on carpet tiles

I'm looking to redo my laundry room and am considering using carpet tiles. I was wondering if anyone has used them and what your experience was. They look easy enough to put down and you can pull one up to replace it if it becomes stained.

They just renovated our office and used these in most of the space for that exact reason, if one gets stained it is easily replaced. My BIL used them when they renovated their house-in the kids' bedrooms. They were able to get different colored tiles and make some fun patterns on the floor. They really like them. They aren't soft like plush carpet though.

This is what they used:

edit in response to Kelly's post below-the flor tiles don't require gluing-they are tongue and grove basically as are most of the ones on the market today.

They are okay. Great for high traffic, because they have such a low pile. (Home Depot uses them in their entrances)

Most installations though require them to be glued down. Not sure if that would affect your situation or not.

In my opinion, you can always see the lines of each tile. Even though they claim it's 'invisible'.

That would drive me nuts.

Oh....I've never seen that brand before. That doesn't even require glue!

I didn't realize that they had tongue and groove tiles. The ones I have seen at Home Depot and Lowes stick on at the corners. This looks like a better option. I also worry about seeing the seems. Some of the reviews I have read suggest getting darker carpet because the seams aren't as noticable.

I have them in my classroom, and you can absolutely see the lines between them. And when you remove one to replace it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I wouldn't do carpet in a laundry room. Too many opportunities for it getting wet.

We had the old-style glued down type at work for years. They very quickly wore out, and just looked cheap. If you want to used carpet tiles, make sure you buy enough to be able to replace them as needed--you don't want to have tiles from multiple dye lots.

They use them in the building where I work. Ours are ugly, didn't wear well, and are very obvious where replaced.

I used carpet tiles in my playroom to keep the floors from getting all scratched up. yes, they move around slightly since we didn't glue them down to save the floor but they work great. When the dogs get sick or something is spilled on them we can easily pick one up and clean it then put it back when it is dry.

I agree.. I don't think I would put carpet in a lanundry room.... It seems like it could be a mess.
