Give me the good, bad and the ugly, and the date you were last there if you can. Thanks!

The last time we were there was September 20, 2004. We've always enjoyed this meal, been there three times. There is good variety and even enough non-seafood items for those who don't eat it. A friend of ours went w/ us in 03 and he doesn't eat any seafood, he enjoyed it as well. My son is big on steamed clams and shrimp and eats mostly that when we go.

We ate Christmas Dinner there 2004. It was very good. DS(10) filled up on Macaroni and cheese and pick and peel shrimp. Since it was a holiday they had carved turkey and prime rib in addition to their usual fare. My parents had just eaten at Boma's the week before and they preferred Boma's. The clam chowder is excellent, but you can get the same bowl at the Columbia Harbour House at MK. Cape May Cafe, Crystal Palace and Biergarten are places we like to take company when they visit us. There is a wide selection of food at each of these restaraunts, so each person in your party should be able to find something they like!

Big thumbs up! We go there every trip and love the variety of food.

Just did this 2x in January 2005. It was recommended to us from the lady delivering our groceries from wegoshop, she is a local and sometimes does this herself. Anyways, we decided to try it out and soooo glad we did. We went back the next night and it is on our dinner plans for our next trip to disney in Jan 2006.

It is a wide variety of foods ( I dont eat seafood ) but still found tons to eat and lots to try.

It was a nice family style restaurant, quiet in my opinion compared to others, clean, friendly staff.....just a great experience

Thumbs up to this one

Hey Cheyita!!

Love the picture of Peter pan....

We met the exact one last summer in adventureland....he was so friendly.

Even tried to speak some french with us:rotfl2:

I love the character interaction, especially with him....

hope to meet HIM again next July.

We've eaten there many times over the years and have always had a great meal. DH is a seafood eater but DD and I are not. Everyone always leaves stuffed. The dessert bar used to be alot bigger with more selections but that does not bother us. Last time we were there, they had a person carving a prime rib type roast.

Love this meal!! I know it gets some so-so reviews, but I've done it a few times and really enjoy it.Just another hint..I like my shrimp ice cold..and whats on the buffet is warm..but they will bring you a bowl of chilled fresh shrimp if you ask,and very happily. It ends up being so much food..that I have asked for just a few cold shrimp..and still gotten a ton of them!! Worth the price and the service and convenience make it absolutely worth it.HTH

It's been a must do for our past three trips.

Anytime there is a post about Cape May, I have to chime in about the oreo bon-bons. If you like chocolate, these are worth the $25 by themselves. I can taste them just thinking about them.

I second that!! We did not like the zebra domes at Boma but loved the oreo bon bons at Cape May. Also had some great chocolate cake, apple cobbler and strawberry shortcake!! :)

It's a must for us but I can eat my weight in steamed clams so that is really the primary reason we go. We were last there in Nov 04 and it was good as always.

I grew up on the Jersey Shore (Stone Harbor) and now live in Texas so whenever I can get my hands on steamed clams I go for it....

Ohhhh...Oreo bon-bons. Anyone who wants to rule the world could accomplish it through Oreo bon-bons (recipe now on AllEars, BTW). Just line them up outside my door and I'd follow the trail all the way to my polling place.
That said, DH and I are always satisfied by the "real" food at Cape May as well. It's a must for every trip. Of course, neither one of us has ever met a crustacean we didn't like, but there always seems to be a bounty of non-seafood items available for consumption as well.
Give it a whirl!
Bon appetit,
Q

We ate there the day after Thanksgiving this year. It was just okay. We went with my dad and step-mom since my dh had been wanting to go ever since he saw it was a NE Clambake. But, we all thought it was not all that wonderful. We were a little disappointed in it. But, to each his own. Most people seem to like it a lot.

We wish we had done it 2X in January 05. Instead we did it once and tried Flying Fish another night. Let's just say we will be going back to Cape May. We like to get the clams fresh out of the steamer and on our plate before they add the garlic butter.

I thought the desserts were outstanding and the rest of the buffet average. My son LOVED the mussels so if you have a mussel fan, it may be worth trying.

We went in Oct. 2004. Seems like there was a pasta, ribs, baked chicken, baked fish, peel & eat shrimp, mussels, clams, and maybe flank steak.

I have been to a lot of the buffets and here's how I rank them:

1. Boma
2. Crystal Palace
3. Chef Mickeys
4. Cape May
5. 1900 Park Fare

I've been there once, about two years ago. It was very good and the dessert section of the buffet is huge, and those Oreo Bon Bons...YUM!! I'm going to have to go to allears and get the recipe to make some!

Love the breakfast there, though :sunny:

Tell me though, how do you think someone from the inland (Dallas) would like it? We tend to avoid Mexican food when we're away from home (except in other border states) because we get such good Mexican food here. But is the food at Cape May really so bad to someone who never gets fresh seafood?
