I am looking for all of your opinions and reviews (good or bad) on the following restaurants:

O'Hanas character breakfast
Whispering Canyon Cafe (breakfast)
Cape May Cafe dinner

There will be 7 of us going in December....3 adults and 4 children ages 14, 14, 11, and 4

These are three restaurants that I have never tried before and am very anxious to try them.

Please let me know your reviews and how the entertainment is for the kids.

Many thanks!
Kim:D

We've been to Cape May Cafe for breakfast & Whispering Canyon for both breakfast and dinner. Loved both restaurants. Lot's of character interaction at the CM breakfast and Whispering Canyon was really fun. I thought the food was great too! Have fun!

Kim - I can vouch for Cape May Seafood Buffet. We've been several times and have enjoyed it a great deal. A good selection of seafood prepared in different ways (fried, broiled, baked, steamed, etc) and a good mix of chix, meat, veggies/salads. Being able to eat tons of clams is always a good thing. There is a seperate section just for kids, which my kids (DD 8, DS 6) enjoy. The dessert section is truly awesome.

We have eatern repeatedly at Cape Mae Breakfast and the food is great with lots of options. The interaction with characters is very good and seemingly a laid back atmosphere. We have not done the clam bake at Cape Mae but plan to try it in Dec. this year. There are no characters at that though. Ohana's breakfast was also very good food and neat atmosphere. Also characters were around much of the time. The food was great for adults but for our picky child maybe a little different. Haven't done Whispering Canyon but also hope to try that in Dec. as we want to check out Wilderness Lodge. Good luck with your choices.

We have been to Whispering Canyon both for breakfast and for dinner, and we far preferred breakfast! We were there when it 1st opened, so I don't think the castmembers were quite awake, because it was peaceful, with no antics (the way we like it). If you want it to be more "entertaining", I would go later in the morning. The food was fantastic, as was the service, but as previously said... there was no antics happening. It all depends on your taste... we like to have fun, but Whispering Canyon, with all of its bells and whistles is way to much for us.... especially 1st thing in the morning, or after a long day in the parks.

Cape May Cafe is our favorite dinner buffet in WDW. The selections are fantastic, the buffet is huge, the service is wonderful and understated (they take your empty dishes and you hardly know they were there, unless you need something--- and they are very quick to get it). The atmosphere is really pretty, with beachy pastels and sandcastle sculptures. We make sure that we never miss this restaurant, no matter how long or short our vacation! Save room for the fabulous dessert bar!!!

We have only eaten at 'Ohana for dinner, which was fabulous... sorry, can't give you the low down on the breakfast!

1. Ohaunas! Have eaten there 4 times, every meal was wonderful! Filled right up until there was no room left.

2. Whispering Canyone. It's been a while, but it was quite good. It can be a little loud though.

3. Cape May. Was not impressed. I ate the kids chicken fingers and Mac and Cheese. Ceaser salad was good too, but nothing too great...unless you like the clams.

kimlooman.....when are you going in December????

Maybe I will see you at Cape May or Whipering Canyon!!!!

Cape May Cafe - great breakfast, great character interaction, recommend highly
dinner is also good here (but I like the breakfast better)

Whispering Canyon- ok breakfast, good dinner, just there for dinner a week ago and it was very good (fun, wooden pony races, etc)

O'Hana's - never been for breakfast, but dinner is fabulous, kids would like the dinner activities (coconut sweeps, hula hoop contest)

All are great for the kids, breakfast or dinner.

Three good choices:
1. Whispering Canyon-We have eaten at Whispering Canyon for both lunch & dinner. We found both to be good and there is unlimited food. We prefer breakfast, in fact breakfast at WC has become a semi requirement for my son & sil. Can get noisy but that is part of the fun in going there.
2.Cape May Cafe- we have eaten here three times and everyone in my family thinks its great. My wife is not much of a seafood fan but she finds plenty here to eat.Clams and Mussels are the big attraction and the rest of us eat a ton. A semi bargain for WDW.
3.O'hanas- lots of really good food. If you love meat eat here. Fabulous shrimp. This has become a family favorite.
My dil and sil are pretty picky eaters but they like all three of these places. You get kid entertainment at WC and O'hanas but no characters.

We will be at Disney Dec.5-12 staying at the Beach Club Villas. We usually stay at the Beach Club for location and really like Cape Mae's as well as Beaches and Cream (great ice cream). It would be great to meet up with others! We have a six year old son and a baby on the way who will be 5 mo.old. Our countdown is already on as it is snowing and cold in Holland, Michigan!

Love Cape May for both breakfast and dinner. Characters at breakfast are the best in WDW, JMHO. We will definately return for both of these next trip.

Ohanas is one of our favorites also. Have not been for breakfast in a couple of years but dinner is another must do every trip.

We tried WCC for dinner. Although it wasn't bad, we didn't care for it enough to add it to our return list.

Have fun what ever you decide.

:D

Cape May Cafe - is one of our favorites for a very filling dinner ;) My hubby loves it because of all the great seafood & there is also plenty of great choices for those of us who don't eat seafood. The dessert bar is one of the best!

Ohana's - We stayed at the Poly in December & had really looked forward to this breakfast - we were very disappointed in our experience here. It is served family style & it was very difficult to get refills on anything we wanted, especially the Mickey Waffles! They would only bring us out one/two at a time. It got very aggrevating. We were there for one hour and 20 minutes and still hadn't seen Mickey. They decided to change his route when he was 2 tables away from us. We won't be returning here anytime soon. I have heard that others love this restaurant - & the food (what we could get) was good.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for all your reviews........please feel free to add more!!!!

Kimlooman.....I will be there from December 8 - December 16......send me your email.......maybe we will have a priority seating at the same time. Wouldn't that be neat!

Kim

The only one on your list we have been to is the Cape May Cafe dinner.

I am not a big seafood lover so I was not suprised that I didn't think much of the meal. However, my DH loves seafood and he was very disappointed. Neither of us felt like we got our money's worth.

Let me just say, in defence of Cape May Cafe, it is NOT a seafood buffet. It is a clambake, with items that would be typically offered at a clambake...like clams, mussels, New England Clam Chowder, red potatos, shrimp, corn on the cob, BBQ brisket, a chicken dish, a pasta dish... plus more... like a great salad bar and a "can't be beat" dessert bar. It is all you can eat, and I know we go through the clams and mussels like there is no tomorrow. Considering what it offered, and if you like "clambake" style food, it is one of the best values on WDW property.

If you change your mind and decide on dinner O'Hana is excellent. The food is very good, the atmosphere is great (I love the Poly). We ate there twice last trip it was so good. One time we had a table near the window overlooking the Poly pool and straight on to the Castle....the best view in WDW!
