Your opinion- Girl Scout Cookie mishap

GS Leader and Neighborhood Cookie chairperson here....It sounds like your co-worker, at the very least, is guilty of poor judgement and perhaps as a worst case--she's a scammer! I'd ask for my money back since you didn't get the product. If she balks, I would contact the local GS Council (NOT her daughter's troop) and at least file a report.

You'd be surprised that more than one person selling cookies claimed to have "lost" the product or the money or had some other lame story why they didn't settle up with the troop on a timely basis. :confused3

At any rate, thank you for supporting the GS:hippie:

I'd want my money back. She was totally irresponsible. Ask her how she'd feel if you got your cookies and then left her money on the break-room table. Would that be okay?

I agree with the others, if she doesn't refund you or give you the cookies, escalate to the council. And I would NEVER buy anything from her again.

you should get your money back. It is HER responsibility to see that the cookies were delievered safely to you. Shame on the co-workers that would steal cookies!!
You can call the main office of the Girl Scouts in your area and report the incident to them.

As someone who is sitting here with 700 boxes of cookies in my house at the moment.. I would replace them.

I am actually printing out "tags" to put on each group of boxes with the persons name and $ amount owed. I also wrap some of them bundles with ribbon.

I have been doing the same thing this entire weekend....:rolleyes1 No way would I just leave cookies unattended and not marked.

Yes, but you used plastic bags, not ribbon! ;)

OP, since it sounds like you've already approached her, and she's not holding up her end of the deal, I agree with the others that it's time to contact the council.

I know some one that bought two cases of cookies (150$ worth), and he's handing them out left and right. gave me two boxes of shortbread cookies and said, come back if you want more.

His reason... it goes for a good cause.

I hope you get your money back. i've only ever bought them outside the grocery store. So i get what I pay for.

My friend at work has a kid in GS. For all of the orders (we ALL order from her and her adorable child) she has for our office, she bags them in recycled grocery bags and labels each bundle with our name and our amount due. She then brings them around to each office or work location, drops off the cookies, and leaves us each with a post-it of how much we owe. We then later on stop by her office and give her our payments.

It works great.

I'm totally stunned that taking stuff from the people you work with is obviously totally excepted and normal.
Don't you think that is just plain stealing and that those who took the cookies should pay for them?

Just curious what you would do in this situation. I want my money back.

Someone at work was selling GSC, and I bought some (for me & my mom who is a Thin Mint addict). I had a pretty decent sized order. When the cookies came in, she asked for the money, I paid her, and she was to give me the cookies that night at the end of shift since they were in her car. She ended up leaving early and we missed each other. No big deal. I work with her on Fri nights only, and apparently she took all the cookies on Monday and put them on the counter in the breakroom, no note or name on them or anything. They disappeared. (of course)

Several coworkers admit they saw cookies in the breakroom, no note or name, and not in a bag or anything. Just a stack of cookies. Now I think I should get my money back since I never got my cookies, and she is saying it is not her fault someone stole them. I think it is her fault. What do you think?By the way, I also feel that I should mention there are several other people who paid for cookies and either didn't get them, or did not get what they ordered. SO something is a little "off" with this lady. I know I am going to end up with no money and no cookies, I just think it is crazy that this lady thinks it was ok to just toss em on the counter. Even if I had been at work, I would not have taken them if they did not have my name on them.

Next year I am predicting poor cookie sales for this woman. lol.

I would tell her you paid for the cookies and she did not give them to YOU, her customer. I'd ask her for my money back.
Sounds like she is 'off" and I think that you are out the $ and the cookies, SAD, because I am sure it now will cause you and others Not to buy from Girl Scouts again, all due to her poor handling and such!
Sorry you are dealing with this woman and the loss of those Yummy cookies!!

I would go over her, and contact the Girl scout headquarters. Tell them what happened. I am sure they would give you what you ordered or money back. and this way that girl that sold the cookies would have a lash against her! any one who sells anything would know to at the very least to have put them in a bag with your name on them!!!, I still would have not left them there! it was her responsibility to deliver them to you! period!

That really stinks. She sounds like a scammer to me. I would call the GS Council.

In the future, no cookies, no money. Now my dh did pay in advance, which was WRONG however it was from my neighbors so I let it slide.

...from a former troop cookie manager.

Respectfully disagree. Common practice/policy in most workplaces is, food placed or left in a shared or public space is there for anyone to eat. Add to that, it's known in the OP's workplace that anything left in their lunchroom will tend to 'disappear', and the woman who took the money for the cookies but did not deliver them was WRONG.

:thumbsup2 I love this. If the OP does ask, it'd be great to hear how the coworker responds... "It's not the same thing" would be an outright lie. It's exactly the same thing.

That was nice of him to do that-2 cases costs 84.00 though- no where near 150.00 for 2 cases.

yes, but you can't get blood from a stone either.

If the break room is open, there may have been some people who assumed that boxes of cookies there with no name were free for the taking.

I donated about 15 boxes last year to my parents' retirement community - I put a note on them that they were a donation and to please help yourself. They were gone in about 10 minutes. Granted, I put a note there, but people will choose to think they were there for the taking in this situation.

She goofed up and needs to rectify.

She should give you your money back or replace the cookies, but not everyone does the right thing.

Do you think she is going to turn the money into the GS troop?

If she is scamming you, she could be scamming them too. She ordered X amount of cookies, but took money for X2 cookies and is keeping the rest.

Who knows what she is doing, I smell scam personally. Most people treat those boxes of cookies like they are secret documents when handing them out.;)

If the OP calls the local council she can have the person flagged. Which if she is giving her troop crap, then they have more ammo to prosecute.
