Your opinion about buffet crowds

You can eat in the MDR on embarkation day? We have always ate at the Cabana. A couple years ago, it was pretty busy but last year it didn't seem as bad.

One of the MDRs does serve lunch on embarkation day. But, the hours are more limited than Cabanas/BBB.

For us, we're kind of over both Cabana's and the "sit down" restaurant buffet on embarkation day. Next cruise, we're heading to the pool area, grabbing some shwarma, burgers, wraps, and fruit from the fast food eateries and staying away from the crowds.

First day is probably the worst for Buffets, everyone trying to get their food and carrying their carry on bags makes it very uncomfortable.. Last year we took some advice and went to Enchanted Garden Buffet as soon as we boarded, no problem getting a table and we were served our drinks.. Great tip .....gonna do it again when we cruise on the Wonder in 3 weeks....cant wait !!!!!

The other problem is that on embarkation day there are a lot of people who don't know that Cabanas is a station buffet, not a line buffet. The line *will* back up at the door and there *will* be nasty comments from people who've been waiting in line and not listening to the CMs telling them that there are stations, not one big line, when the people in the know bypass them to go to the next station to get food. I've heard plenty of rude comments from them until they realize they've been waiting in line when they didn't need to.

When we boarded the Dream recently we were greeted by Ivan (who ended up becoming our head server) who asked if we were hungry. It was almost 1:00 and we were famished. He invited us to go to the Enchanted Garden for lunch and told us how to get there. It was also set up as a buffet, but was not crowded at all. We were shown to our seats, had drinks brought to us and it was not very crowded.

We had breakfast twice at Cabanas, once on Nassau day and once on Castaway Cay day, but after the 5K and both were lovely and not crowded either time

Ivan was our head server our last cruise as well. I am hoping Angel is working our next cruise (nothing against Ivan he was good too) we she loved her. She is AWESOME with kids and really good with my grandson.
