So my mom and I are going on a trip this September, and I've been thinking about what sort of annoyances from my last trips I want to avoid. We are already leaving everyone else at home so that Mom and I can tour the way we like to (commando, only not, bc we are very relaxed about changes and arent so much into all the headliners) and not have to adjust for tired children and spouses who think an awesome pool or respiratory infection are worth missing the parks for. :-P

So I just realized that, being kid-free and staying on property with magic bands, I also have a shot at being BAG-FREE! You want to talk about a game-changer?? My husband, father, and six yr old were ALWAYS the first in bc they didn't have bags. I want to go to there!!

What do I absolutely, positively have to take with me that cannot be worn on my person?

Good for you and your mom! I can't think of anything that you won't be able to stick in your pockets. I always like to have my ID, a few dollars for any kiosks that can't use magic bands, a couple Excedrin as I'm migraine prone. Sunscreen may be tricky, but I am very fair and have to reapply often. Have a great trip!

The sunscreen should be the biggest obstacle.

DO get one of those collapsible drawstring bags. Then - put things in your hands. Sunscreen in one hand. Wallet (with cards and cash) in the others.

Person 2. Camera in one hand. Small bottle for 'pain reliever and other drugs' in other.

Mission accomplished.

Wear everything you can. Sunglasses? Check. Wallet on a string in front? Check.

Off to the park.

WDW and DLR veteran here.

Do NOT complain too loud- in California there is NO separate line. Everyone in same line, all the time. I went thru it again the other month.

:rolleyes1

I always like to have my ID,

Please, everyone, carry an ID with you at all times, no matter where you are.

Back to the topic - I very seldom will be bagless but my bag is extremely small with two zippered pouches. I carry - ID card, medical insurance card, credit card (one or two), room key, at least $20, park pass, chap stick, camera, phone, small notebook for trip report notes, pen, car key. You probably can get all that into pockets but think about sitting for rides and meals and, well, bathroom breaks.

I love the idea of sticking the string bag in your pocket and toting everything else just to stick it all in your bag when you pass the gate! This is so awesome! Soooooo doing that! Incidentally, my phone is my camera! And I stick 5 loose Advil in my pockets too!

I agree about the id. You just never know!

I don't carry and ID or a credit card. Why do you need them?

I don't carry sunscreen. I don't carry medications of any kind since you can get it from first aid. I don't carry cash.

I did carry a very small purse with lip gloss and my phone in it a couple of weeks ago, but only because I knew my girls would have purses so I might as well have on too since we would have to go through the bag check line anyway.

Your MB is your park pass as well as your credit card. Most people use their phone as their camera. I ride the Disney buses so I don't need car keys. I have never carried paper and pens.

I always go bag free to the parks...I'm just happier that way.

I have a hoodie that has zippered pockets. I put my phone in one pocket and my id/credit card/medical id card/annual pass (when I had one) in the other. I tie the hoodie around my waist and have the camera on a body strap...and I'm good to go. I use a walker so I just hold the top of the seat up so security can see there's nothing in it when I go through the no bag line.

Cargo pockets could accomplish the same thing provided they were big enough and secure enough that you don't have to worry about anything falling out.

If I had a phone that I could use as my camera...I would be even happier to have one less thing with me.

Cargo shorts/pants...you wouldn't believe what I've smuggled in

I have several cargo capri pants that are only worn at Disney :thumbsup2

If you have a Disney Visa and want the discounts at stores or restaurants you'll need ID. Same with DVC, TIW, etc.

We went bag-free last trip. It was awesome. I can not express the importance of cargo shorts!

Me - phone in ziplock in top right pocket, small camera in ziplock in a case in bottom right pocket. Travel sized sunscreen and Chapstick in top left pocket, bottle water in hand or bottom left pocket.

DH - phone in ziplock, wallet in ziplock, travel sized pack of sanitizing wet wipes, phone charger, bottle water.

Everyone had a travel sized hand sanitizer hooked on their belt loop.

We plan on carrying less next trip. We just upgraded our phones and the cameras are much better. No bottles or wet wipes.

If I wore a hat and a crew neck t-shirt I could probably skip the sunscreen.

Our magic bands worked great and as long as they do there is no reason to carry any cards, etc into the park. If I were without dh (who always carries his wallet) I'd probably want my license and one credit card, to be safe. I'd put a couple of band-aid blister bandages, a stick of sunscreen and a small pack of gum in my pocket. Also, my phone. That's it.

I wear cargo shorts and march right through the "no bag" line. Then I patiently wait for DW as she gets her purse inspected.:rolleyes1

Seriously, it's amazing how traveling light can make the day go better. :earsboy:

Oh bag free. .. Not going to happen here for a while, but we are looking forward to our first trip in 12 years with NO STROLLER.:cool1: I can't even imagine. I am truly jealous of those who can go no bag though. I could do it, but not DH.:rotfl2:
Or the kids, those darn autograph books....

You will love stroller free, we passed that milestone about 10 years ago, so awesome!!

Get white hats for the kids to wear. The characters will autograph them, so you don't have to carry books, just a sharpie. Also helps with the sun!

Not sure if you're planning on staying all day in the parks but you might want to bring an external phone charger too. I have a droid RAZR Max (it is supposed to have a larger battery than most phones) and it was down to 30% by 2pm most days. Luckily I had an external charger so could keep on keeping on. Even tho I didn't have kids, I did still have one if those drawstring backpacks. It was mesh tho so I didn't even have to open it up...security just looked and let me go. I was there in Dec and it was cool in the morning and I needed a jacket but didn't want to wear it around my waist the rest of the day. If I went during warmer months, I would have my phone, sunscreen, id, cash, and charger all in my pockets.

I would rather carry a bag than have my pockets crammed full of stuff. I hate having stuff in my pockets. Seriously;)
