Your mission if you choose to accept it.....

I have a few suggestions for you:

For Magic Kingdom dining you might want to consider The Plaza Restaurant. This is a sit down location with reasonably priced food and decent sized servings. The prices are the same for lunch and dinner. For the menu, click on this link:

I know you said you didn't want to go to the resorts for meals, but sometimes you can find more suitable offerings on a budget. For example, you could take the boat from MK to Ft. Wilderness and dine at Trail's End. Click on the link for the menu/prices:

While at Epcot you could either walk or take the boat over to Beach Club and dine at Beaches n Cream. If you go during the off times, it's not that hard to get seated. Menu/prices at the link:

Chef Mickey's will probably be your most expensive meal at WDW - that's why I made my suggestions. If you are not big breakfast eaters, you should bring your own breakfast items that don't need to be cooked and have breakfast in your room.

I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter what you decide to do. Enjoy!:)

Just got off the phone with Disney (yeah I take my assignments seriously)

Your dates 9/26-10/2 for 2 adults and one child at POP with 5 day base tickets and dining is $1712 without travel insurance

The 5 day tickets purchased without the package is $648.60

You said your room was $318.65

Plus the $800 you budgeted for food

Buying seperate comes to $1767.25 and does not include your Chef Mickeys meal or your food on 9/26 or 10/2 according to your previous post.

The dining plan gives you each 6 tables service meals (including character meals), 6 counter service meals and 6 snacks.

I say if you can cancel your room do it and buy the package.

Since this is the biggest last minute decision I have ever made, thus my budget must still revolve around my hawaii budget. Giving me access to the 1700.00 one day before i am supposed to leave for disney....do they take last minute reservations like that?? Also I came up with the price of almost 1800.00 because the 318.00 was the preferred room. Can I purchase that one day before going down??????? If so oh please let me know I can manage that great, but if not, then I must do it my budget way. ugh!!!

Package has to be purchased 3 days before leaving, and hoping they have availability at POP at that point. No way you could charge now (30 days before you have the money) and pay off the day before you leave causing no interest?

No, and no, allllll maxed out! I'm going to have to do it the other way, sadly, but tis okay I'm going to Disney for the first time :goodvibes. plus i do have to rely on the flights, so it might get ugly, and the insurance doesn't pay for being bumped off a flight, ahhh the joys of being an airline employee!!!

I would then recommend sharing with you child for example, at Pizza Planet, the Meal Deals come with an individual pizza and a side salad. The pizza is cut in 4 slices. you can order 2 combos and share between the 3 of you.

You say DH is a vegetarian bt if you and DD want a burger, order a double burger meal and any extra bun (80 cents) Split it and the fries...its plenty of food.

Well often order appitizers as our meals at many TS places.

And remember if you buffet it, that lunch is cheaper than dinner. Since DH is a vegetarian he won't miss the Prime Rib or the extra $8 each that it costs! Book the latest lunch seating you can get. Often after a big late lunch we won't be hungry for much more than a pretzel or something similar that night.

OP, I don't think it's possible for strangers (which we are to you) to tell you where to eat, because we don't know what you like to eat.
I, for example, don't like anything that's Asian (although I haven't tried teppanyaki/ japanese yet), so I wouldn't recommend that to anyone, and I absolutely HATE every kind of food that has been in touch with BBQ sauce, although most Americans love that.

What I can do, is tell you how I/ we (mom and I) spend money while at Disney, in order to not spend fortunes.

First of all, we take our own water. One year, I even took water from cape Cod all the way to california (Disneyland) because I knew I wouldn't be able to get to a grocery store over there. This is of course something that isn't possible anymore.
So, now we hit a grocery store, buy lots of water and some small snacks, like those individually packed brownies and cheese crackers. That's more to be busy while waiting in line or for a parade than to really eat something.

Next to that, we have CS breakfast in the morning, a late lunch (latest seating) and then a snack at night. Although we are big eaters, American portions are huge, and this feeds us witout us getting sick because we over-ate. Sometimes we share an appetizer, most times we share a dessert, each has her entree, and that's it. We can't each eat appetizer/ entree/ dessert.
In the (late) evening, we have something smaller to eat. Like one CS sandwich which we split, or funnel cake or...

When I was last year at WDW, I spent about each day 8-9 USD on breakfast (way less if I got the biscuits and gravy or just a cinnamon roll), and about 30 USD on late lunch (TS, including tip. I ate at 50PTC, Coral Reef, Plaza restaurant, ...). Some days I would get a Dole whip float in the afternoon, and/ or a muffin or hot dog or so in the evening. I would say maximum 50 USD a day for food (oops, when I see it like this, I ate away lots of money, lol!). Multiply this by 3 and then by 5, and you eat under 800 USD on your trip.
