Your Magic Moment

I love the anticipation of unpacking in our room after getting that shiny new room key/charge card. Finding the storage areas, hanging up clothes and putting everything where it's supposed to be...putting all the snacks and groceries away in the kitchen...all knowing that today is Day One and we have our whole vacation ahead of us. All while wearing shorts for the first time in months.

Things we have to do? Chef Mickeys for DS. Marketplace. Buzz. Seeing the castle. Main Street. Anything we want as we want to do it (we're not commandos - we would drive commandos CRAZY. I overplan and then we play it by ear).

My favorite "moment"...? Too many! The one that comes to mind is DS meeting his idol (Buzz, of course) for the first time - Buzz saw DS's shirt, sandals and baseball cap - all with his image - and took the hat off DS's head while Woody was signing the book. Then he turned to me, indicating he'd like to sign the hat, I said yes and he stamped his autograph right on the bill, as well as Max's autograph book.

DS LOVES his Buzz signed Buzz hat!

And at the risk of sounding schmaltzy...I have to tell all of you how much I LOVE these threads! It makes me smile just to know how many others think about things like this and cry when they see the castle, the parade, their children at WDW...it's like strangers with so very much in common.

Because of the time our flights have normally arrived, our first stop is always EPCOT since it's the park normally open the latest when we go. I don't know I'm on vacation until I catch that first glimpse of Spaceship Earth! It's been known to bring tears to my eyes. Several trips on Spaceship Earth, dinner somewhere in EPCOT and Illuminations are also part of the first day routine.

Other "Must do's" include:

many "family grudgematches" on Buzz Lightyear. DH always keeps track of all the scores each trip. It was really fun last trip when DD and I both got scores of 999,999! Happened because we got stopped in a spot where we found a 100,000 point target and kept hitting it until we pegged the score. It was great fun to show off to DH and DS!

We all love taking several leisurely rides on the TTA.

Impressions de France is always on the trip agenda at least once. DH and I particularly enjoy the nighttime scene from the top of the Eiffel tower...reminds us of when we were actually there.

We have a lot more, but these are the ones the spring to the top of my mind.

Win at Millionaire, eat at WCC with Bobby the kid as our waiter, and illuminations cruise with Jeff as the Captain, find XXX at the MK in hopes of getting to open MK, make a batch of homemake snicker doodle cookies for the front desk at the BW...those are at least the top 5

Find the XXX? What's this? I want to open MK! :Pinkbounc

#1: The Carousel of Progress froze up during its rotation but the animatronics continued on...my DW panicked and became very nervous. If you know this attraction, there is nothing to be afraid of. I still kid her about having no problem with the Tower of Terror but that darn scary Carousel of Progress!

#2: Cruella De Ville looking at my DD5 in her Minnie Mouse dress and then asking me, "Whyyyyy would you dress your daughter like a little RAT?????"

#3: During the Kilamanjaro Safari, when the bridge "breaks," I completely fell for the Disney Magic. I thought the driver really hit the bridge and caused it to break. I grabbed our DD5 and braced my leg against the side of the vehicle and started looking for an escape route. My DW couldn't stop laughing...even today. The only thing that shuts her up is bringing up the scary Carousel of Progress!!!

#4: Standing outside our water view room at the Caribbean Beach Resort, overlooking the lake at 7:00 am. Sipping a drink in the early morning Florida sunshine and humidity. Waving down to a few other families beginning their day, walking to the bus stop, full of energy in matching Disney tshirts.

#5: Waking up at Disney's Vero Beach Resort in our Inn room at 4:00 am. And then quietly stepping out onto the private balcony and looking out at the ocean. It was a clear night with a half moon. I sat down and listened to the peacefullness of the waves and watched the lights from the several fishing boats out there, doing their work.

#6: Same view of the ocean but at 5:00 pm from the Green Cabin Room balcony, drinking an ice cold Smirnoff Ice and sharing a shrimp cocktail with my DW as she had a glass of wine. Our DD was at the Discovery Club playing games and having dinner. Our shrimp cocktail sauce was red with three drops of peach colored sauce making a Mickey in the sauce!

Quote "#2: Cruella De Ville looking at my DD5 in her Minnie Mouse dress and then asking me, "Whyyyyy would you dress your daughter like a little RAT?????" :rotfl2:

She did the same to my DD (then 4.5). She grabbed her bow with two fingers and said "Ewwwwww, a princess." In that low sinister voice. DD was wearing her Sleeping Beauty costume after her breakfast at CRT.

This may sound kinds of silly, but I have my own magic moment early in the mornings as the sun starts coming up. I sneak out of the room down through the lobby and go to my secret fishing spot. I watch as all the parks and such start stirring about while I am the first to disturb the calm waters. It is so clear, quiet, and beautiful. Just me and the the fish having our quiet time before the family magic begins.
After catching a few I stroll back to the truck and put away my gear. Then it is off to the room where my princesses are getting ready.

"Daddy, did you catch any fish?" along with a kiss :love2: .

"I sure did baby, they said to tell you hello!"
