Your Honeymoon

We went to Cancun for a week for our honeymoon. My Dad paid for it. It was his wedding gift to us. We really loved it there and said for our 5 year anniversary we would go back, but it never happened. :sad1: One of these years hopefully we will.

I'll be honeymooning at the end of September of this year. My in-laws are DVC members so they booked as at the BWV for 7 days. We'll come back to CT for a day and then head up to a lake in Vermont that I grew up vacationing. Friends of my family own a cabin and are letting us stay up there for a few days as a wedding gift.

So, the beginning of our honeymoon will be fun in Disney World and the end will be unwinding - just the two of us. Couldn't ask for anything better!

Went to Hawaii for two weeks. We spent a week on Maui and a week on Kauai. Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui and Sheraton on Kauai. It was incredible and I would love to go back. Loved Kauai more than Maui. We also saw Pearl Harbor on our last day, had about 7 hours between flights (on purpose so we could do this).

We payed for it ourselves (no way parents are paying for a 38 year old groom and 30 year old bride). My FF Miles did pay for one of the flights over in first class though and then we got deals with the Starwood Preferred Guest

We went to WDW! Spent a week at the Grand Floridian on the Grand Plan (this was back in 1990). It was awesome! We paid for it all ourselves and I think it is when my DH truly fell in love with WDW.

We spent a week at a cabin in the woods. Sounds nice and cozy except it was the last week of Oct. and cold. I cooked and cleaned the entire week as there was no maid service (LOL) and my dh thought that it would be nice if we just ate in every night. At the end of the week I told him that the 25th anniversary I was the one who was going to decide what we were going to do. At our 24th anniversary I reminded him and put out cruise brochures. We ended up on a cruise from Vancouver to the Hawaiian Islands. We stayed a couple extra days in Vancouver and then again after the cruise in Hawaii. It was great. Before the cruise all my dh wanted to do was camp, now he has opened his mind to other vacations and since our 25th we have seen many other places. I would not recommend the honeymoon we had, although I think if he had of helped working to clean the place and we went out for dinner it would have been better. We did pay for it though.

Where in Vermont? Maybe we could have a DIS meet at your cabin? No? You mean you don't want us crashing your honeymoon? Come on, we're the DIS!

The first thing I thought after I got engaged was "Yay! We can go to Disney for our honeymoon!" Neither of us had been since we were children, so we went to WDW for 6 days/7 nights. We stayed at the Caribbean Beach in Aruba. Once we were done at WDW, we rented a car and drove to Cocoa Beach for another 3 days/4 nights. We stayed at the Inn at Cocoa Beach. We had such a great time. We would not have changed a thing.

I had wanted to go to DW but hubby suggested Hawaii, so I said OH YEAH.
5 nights Maui, 5 nights Kauai (both at the Hyatt) paid for by ourselves and heading back for 11 nights for our 10th anniversary this fall (our 4th trip back!)

We booked a 12night cruise around the Hawaiian islands....got the call during our wedding rehearsal that the boat was being put into dry dock for repair and it wouldn't be sailing  .....DH (who was very clam) talked with the travel agent all night...finally had them us book a two week Mediterranean Cruise :woohoo: it left only a day after our original cruise ...

I didn’t find out where we were going until the reception....It was one of the best surprises of the night...currently its 57 days till our one year anniversary cruise around the Hawaiian islands….wish me luck:wizard: ...

Got married at WDW and then also honeymooned there...

We left the night of the wedding on a red-eye flight from SEA to MCO via Dallas. We stayed at CBR for two weeks and went to each WDW and Universal park with a couple days to spare. I had borrowed money from my Mom to pay off the trip, and had even given her a check to pay her back, but the day of the wedding she gave me the check back after ripping it on half.

Left the day after the wedding for a 3 week tour of Europe - AMAZING! We're not "relaxing" vacation people - lol! Everybody thought we were nuts to not go to some romantic island resort somewhere - but that's just plain boring to us plus - what's more romantic than kissing your new spouse by Big Ben, In the Eiffel Tower, on a gondala in Venice, outside the casino in Monte Carlo etc....?? LOL

ETA: We paid for our honeymoon

My DW and I went to Disney World but had to stay off-site because we couldn't afford the Contemporary and that was about the only place to stay on-site at the time.

That was in February 1978.

My parents gave us a large sum of money as a wedding gift to use any way we wanted. They'd thought it would be used for a honeymoon. Nope. We used it as a down payment for a house and were able, with their gift, to buy a *far nicer* home than we would have otherwise. Besides, we had taken some really nice trips together prior to getting married, and continue to take nice trips. Give me a *great* house! :thumbsup2

Never had a honeymoon...I told DH for our 20th anniversary I want to GO SOMEWHERE!!! We are chugging along to year 17.

We didn't have a real honeymoon for several years. I had just opened a new business a few months before we were married and my wife had started a new job as well. We did a quick trip to San Francisco and called it good.
In December of 2000 I walked in her office with flowers and handed her the tickets for the first leg of our trip (I had worked all of this out with her boss) On our third night in Vegas I put the tickets on her pillow for the next days flight to Orlando where we spent a week at CBR. On Christmas eve at dinner in Epcot I gave her the tickets to Turks & Caicos in the British Virgin Islands where we spent ten days at the Allegro Resort. We had the time of our lives for those three weeks and I'd say it was worth the wait.
I still have my business and now she's the "boss" in her office. And the silly girl still thinks I'm a romantic.:flower3:

I agree with your wife, that was very romantic. :)

We went on a 10-day caribbean cruise and loved every minute of it. We paid for it ourselves, and would definitely recommend it.

We spent two weeks touring Colorado! We couldn't afford Switzerland since we had just purchased our first home, so we settled on Colorado. We were doing what we enjoyed at the time, but now I'd pick someplace tropical! DH worked for the Sheraton back then, so we could stay at any Sheraton for half price.

Aspen was by far our favorite spot! Back then it wasn't really known to be the rich and famous mecca it is today. What an adorable little town with friendly folk, I'd love to return some day!

Edited to add, we paid for it ourselves.

We went to WDW for a week for our honeymoon in 2000. Dh paid for it (I paid for the wedding). Would I recommend it? Heck yeah! We've been back nearly every year since. :)

Dh and I were on our HM at WDW for seven days. It was wonderful. I've always wanted to go to WDW and DH only went to MK once in his lifetime and always wanted to go to the other parks...expecially Epcot. So also planning our wedding I was planning our HM. I worked my butt off by going online and doing research on the best time to go. From the money we recieved from our wedding we were able to book our HM, and my parents gave us extra money for the trip. There were many months of me behind the computer for many hours planning, doing research, tips to save money, etc. And it finally paid off...we had a blast and we were treated extremely well. And I know we enjoyed our trip, partically thanks to my planning. After being in the parks for a few days my DH did thank me for planning the trip becasue if we didn't do our research we would have been miserable.
