Your favourite off-site hotel and why

Happy dance, flights are booked. Looking at hotels now and it's pretty overwhelming! So many in the same area, same price range......

I know people have enjoyed HOJO. What about others?

Here's what I want:

-kidsuite or little suite with at least a fridge and micro
-free parking (we're renting a car)
-reasonable distance to DL but does not have to be walking distance as we're only going to do a day at DL and maybe a day at CA and kids are old enough that we don't need a midday break anymore
-nicer heated pool with hot tub/whirlpool (our dates are 1st wk Nov)
-safe, clean, updated hotel
-prefer around the $100/night price range, definitely under $125

I was thinking the same thing! Sorry I can't recommend anything because all we ever stay at is Hojos.

I have recommended the Homewood Suites by Hilton numerous times. It is in Garden Grove on the corner of Harbor & Chapman so you can't really walk it (you could but it is probably around a mile). It is a suite hotel that was refurbed last year. Full kitchen in every suite and free deluxe hot breakfast. The pool is kind of small but clean. I don't remember if it was heated or not -- we went in Sept. We loved that hotel so much that we are staying there again for this coming trip.

We've only ever done priceline since its just the 2 of us. We've ended up at the Anaheim Marriott Suites for $44/night and Hyatt Regency for $50/night on two seperate trips. On our upcoming trip we're back at Anaheim Marriott Suites and couldn't be happier. They are both located at Chapman and Harbor. They are really nice and clean hotels with all the amenities you'd expect at a 3.5* hotel including friendly staff. The Marriott suites one even has a starbucks located right in the lobby! It is exactly 2 miles from the park (we drive and it takes approx 15 minutes from hotel door to getting on the tram from the parking garage). It does have a fee for parking, but they often have specials through expedia/marriott websites that can include free buffet breakfast and free parking. Through priceline you can get it pretty cheap, so the $12/day for parking isn't a big deal. Its always been under $70 which is such a steal! They only guarantee double occupancy on Priceline, but most can end up with 2 double beds and since its a suite, they have a pull out couch too. The suites also have a refrigerator and 2 tv's in every room. The pool is pretty nice from what I rememeber and includes a hot tub. DH used the fitness facility and really liked it. They also have a business center, hotel restaurant (Sunspot), hotel lounge, plenty of meeting rooms, and a gift shop.

The Hyatt Regency Orange County we've only stayed at one night, and booked two rooms at the same time. They have a beautiful atrium type lobby with plenty of light that really opens up the hotel and makes it have an extra bit of luxury. They have a regular hotel cafe type restaurant and also a pizza hut. The best thing about this hotel is they have a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes, on the hour and half hour to Disneyland. It was great that we didn't have to put up with parking at Disneyland or anything, ecspecially since it was a Saturday night that we stayed there. Also, it allowed different members of our group to leave when they were tired and needed to go back and sleep. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean. And even though there were only 2 of us in each room, we both had two queen beds. The pool looked very nice and included a hot tub. They also had a workout facility and lots of banquet/meeting rooms and a business center. They also had a parking fee on their own private/guarded lot. But like the Marriott, I'm sure you can order some type of special package where this fee comes with the price you pay.

You might check out Desert Inn and Suites to see if it's a good fit for your family. It has an indoor pool, is almost directly across the street from DL, has free parking facilities for 1 vehicle, and their suite with 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa, and a over-sized Jacuzzi tub is only $99/night.

Warning: some people here at the DIS boards don't like the DI&S so they'll probably disagree with this option (mostly because of the parking situation), and also it's said all over the web that their free breakfast is gross!

Of all the hotel/motels we've stayed at the Anaheim Marriott was 'my' favorite. Back then it had it's own shuttle and a very nice,albiet,expensive bar. The fact my oldest son won 3 free nights didn't hurt either.
The next 'nicest' place was the Camelot Inn. Spacious Suite and 'close' to DL.

I 2nd, Desert Inn and Suites!! Staff is excellent, rooms are great, I have been in the Deluxe, A Parlor, and a C 2 suite. All were clean, with good size fridge, and microwave. Nice size bathrooms.

We always stay there, it is cheaper, closer, and convenient.

I feel like a broken record by now but I have to recommend the Buena Park Radisson. Yes, it is further away than most hotels BUT it has...

a) FREE parking and Internet
b) Complimentary Breakfast Buffet
c) Heated Pool/ hot tub
d) Free shuttle to Disney/Knotts that does NOT stop at other resorts
e) Updated suites with comfortable beds

I can't remember what your other qualifications were but we're staying there next week and I CANNOT wait. Our 2 Queen bed suite w/ fridge, dining room table, sleeper sofa etc.. was only about 119/night. Great deal!

We recommendriceline- Crowne Plaza, Marriott Suites, and for aliitle extra money Embassy Suites. We have stayed at all three places and loved each one. Embassy suites for the free cto bkfst. and we had 6 people in our group, Marriott Suites because for 2 it's a nice suites, and Crowne Plaza was nice becuase nice pool, Private Shuttle to and from, and the rooms were nice better than Embassy, not as nice as Marriott. Oh yea there is a $12.00 day resort fee at Crowne that give you the shuttle and other stuff so if you book through priceline at $45 you still have to pay the $12.00 day at the end.

Hojo is my new fav but I like portofino too the kids suites are very spacious. The walk isn't horrible going there but we used ART to get back each night. The hotel was clean with interior corridors a must on my list. Very friendly staff too I have seen it as low as 70$ a night up to 149$ a night. There website has especials too if you book online

I third DI&S!!! I think, or do I 4th?

DI&S is the only place I stayed at as a "grown up" besides the Hyatt...& altho ok, too far for my taste. The DI&S has just what you need - clean beds, affordable prices, cheap suites, FAST walk to the park. It is not sparkly or wonderful - it simply serves it's purpose.

I never ate their breakfast - I bring my own bc I'm a snob. Crusty donuts & bad coffee won't do it for a day in the parks! We had our protien drinks, green drinks & oatmeal in the room where we could load up in a healthy way.

Parking SUCKS. But....we never drove. We parked & walked everywhere...except our last day when we went to the beach - & it was easy to find parking bc it was Winter I think...

SO if you need a LOT of room (suites) & you need to keep your price down, DI&S is a good choice.
