Our first DCL cruise is in March. Do any of you have a favorite spa treatment, men and women?
We are doing this on a port day, hubby and I. Thanks for sharing. We are looking forward to this cruise.

Just the Rainforest Room. No pushy sales pitch to deal with. (Even with putting "NO sales pitch, please" on the release, I still end up with them giving it.) Plus I get far better massages on land - and for less money.

Since you are doing this together, then how about a couple's massage. If you don't normally get massages at home, then this might be a special treat. Enjoy your cruise and be prepared to become addicted to cruising, but in a good way!

I am not a spa person, but my cousin and her DH enjoyed the Couples Experience. They had a small private verandah with a hot tub and got a couples massage of some sort.

My husband and I splurged on the Spa Villa Couples Choice. (Which was a bigger splurge than expected because the price turns out to be per person.)

The 'villa' is an extended balcony with a hot tub and a futon. (Officially a Roman bed.) You get two attendants. First you sit out on the futon while they massage your feet in a water basin with a scrub and talk about the options. It's all a flat rate so it's just a question of preferences. Then you get into the hot tub for about 30 minutes. There's ice water to drink. After that you shower (it's also out on the balcony) and put on a robe and go into the cabin part of the room, which is all dim lighting and bamboo music. There are two massage tables and that part is a little over an hour. The website says 75 minutes. Then you put your robes back on, go back out to the futon, sit back looking at the water, and get skewers of fresh fruit -- pineapple and chocolate covered strawberry and maybe that was it. They also brew hot tea. You have about a dozen choices. You sort of melt into the futon for maybe half and hour and then you're done.

Thanks for the info that the price is per person. I assumed it was per couple as the Alone Time option, which seems similar but is just for one person, is about $200.

Just a heads up that if you are looking at the rainforest room the classic ships are different from the Dream and Fantasy. The tiled loungers on the Dream and Fantasy have a great view of the ocean while the ones on the classic ships are in an inside room. This definitely made a difference to me.

I would skip it. I have tried the spa twice and haven't had a good experience either time. I feel like the services aren't as good and they cost more. I have also not been successful avoiding the sales pitches (regardless of expressing my desire to skip them). I think DCL does a lot of things really well, a relaxing spa experience hasn't been one of them for me.

I agree that the Rainforest Room day pass is awesome, and just as relaxing as a spa treatment (if not more so, given as noted above, the annoying sales pitch during treatments), and one tenth of the price. My husband did a massage, and bought some very very overpriced lotion based on the sale pitch *sigh*, but for what its worth he said it was a good massage.

Thanks everyone! We have been on other lines, but had never done any spa services while cruising. I will discuss with hubby. I will say the services at the mega casino spa locations in Vegas off everything under the sun, all at excellent rates. I enjoy those.

I am not sure I want to pay more for less.

Don't. I have tried DCL's spa services twice and I won't be back. As everyone else has mentioned between the ridiculous upsell (and folks complain about nickel and dining on other cruise lines :sad2:) and the mediocre service it's just not worth the price they charge. You can get a far better spa experience on land for a fraction of the price.

I have to say we didn't get any kind of sales pitch during our Villa experience. Maybe because we were already paying so much. It was a pleasant surprise.

We have had mixed results at the spa over the years. We just got off the East Bound Panama cruise and we did do a few treatments. The pedicure's for my daughter and I were so-so, but I loved my Alone Time, my daughter loved the Thai poultice massage and my husband really enjoyed the gentleman's facial and shave. I do tell them upfront I am not interested in the products and for the most part that request was respected. All 3 of us really enjoyed the Rain Forest room as it really does help you to relax. Have a great cruise!

What were the massage options for Alone Time?

Question if anyone knows:

We have never done The Rainforest room and I would like to give it a try on our PC cruise in Feb.
I am going to buy 2 passes incase my husband wants to come with me.
If he doesn't, can I use the pass for myself another day or do you have to choose a certain day to use them?

TIA

You may use them both yourself. You do not have to choose a day ahead of time.

I love the Alone Time....I had a facial and it was amazing. The hot tub was so nice as well. Worth it for the relaxation for a few hours.

What were the massage options for Alone Time?

The options listed under the description for the Wonder in February are Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, or Lime Ginger Salt Glow with half body massage. I don't know if those are the only options or if they vary from ship to ship or what. I'm tentatively planning that and a Rainforest Room pass for Nassau day in February (waiting to get the RR pass until I know my stateroom number as it doesn't seem like you can order gifts/amenities until you know your stateroom number).

edit to add: I may just get a RR pass and do that in and out on Nassau day. Still debating - but I have Alone Time booked for now.

I always do Alone Time and the massage options seem to vary based upon the staff member you are booked with. I've been offered Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and lomi lomi on various cruises.
