Your favorite SOUP

Today it is minus 20 degrees where I live. This inspired me to start this thread!
Anyone have any favorite soups from the store or favorite restaurant?

Mine are:
Cousins- Cheese soup
Store Bought: Cheese broccoli with rice from Uncle Bens but I don't think they make it anymore. It came in a box like the wild rice. I miss it.

I also miss McDonald's Campbells soup. It was a great drive through favorite of mine. Does anyone have a McDonald's that is still selling soup?

Any other great soups out there?

Maybe it's a regional thing. I live in WI so soup sells well here.

This is a favorite in our house. I make it a couple times a year.

Twice Baked Potato Soup

Ingredients
•4 large baking potatoes (about 2-3/4 pounds)
•2/3 cup butter
•2/3 cup all-purpose flour
•3/4 teaspoon salt
•1/4 teaspoon white pepper
•6 cups milk
•1 cup (8 ounces) Daisy Brand Sour Cream
•1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
•10 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
•1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese

Directions
•Bake potatoes at 350° for 65-75 minutes or until tender; cool completely. Peel and cube potatoes.
• In a large saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; whisk in sour cream. Add potatoes and green onions. Garnish with bacon and cheese. Yield: 10 servings.

I am not much on canned soup however Progresso soups are far better than any of the Campbell's. The chicken in Campbell's soups has the same taste and consistency of little squares of styrofoam.

My kids LOVE Progresso's Chickarina soup...I always keep some in the house.

I generally stick with homemade or restaurant soups. I am a sucker for a good tomato bisque, French onion or chicken and wild rice. I love the creamy Chicken & Wild Rice soup at Bruegger's.

The Bear Creek cream of broccoli soup is good. The directions say to just add water to the mix. I always add a bag of petite cut broccoli and 2 cups of cheese to soup.

I forgot about a work potluck until late one night, so I made this soup. Two bags fill a 6 quart crockpot with the added broccoli. It was the only soup that was completely gone and I had to confess when I was asked for the recipe twice. LOL

My other favorites are homemade clam chowder, and when I am sick, my 'go to ' soup is old fashioned Mrs Grass Chicken Noodle soup, which is getting harder and harder to find

I love just about any kind of soup -- Corner Bakery has a Three Lentil veggie soup that's great.

At home, I just make my own. Family favorite is split pea with ham.

I also save up any veggie leftovers from dinner every night (the two or three tablespoons that are too much to throw out, but not enough to serve again), and put them in a gallon-sized freezer bag. I keep a running bag in the freezer, and when it's full, I make soup with whatever frozen carcass I might have.

We just had crock pot stew last night -- I'd made extra gravy, so it was nearly a soup. Yum!

I love soup!! Tomorrow is soup day at work, where people bring in a bunch of soups, bread, dessert, and we all share. It's a balmy 11 degrees right now, so the timing is perfect.

My current favorite is the Red Pepper soup that came in the nutrition guide for P90x. It has no fat, and it is crave-worthy. Easy to make, too!

I love soup this time of year.

Our favourites are:

chicken soup with dumplings

spicy tomato soup (bse served with a salad and grilled small grilled cheese sandwhich)

cheese soup (based off of Le Celliers--but I keep tweaking it and the kds and DH said Le Cellier's has lost its appeal because what we have at home is so much yummier--I think'll keep them )

What kind of cheese did you add to it, cheddar?

I add whatever I have in the fridge. Most of the time, that's a colby jack mix or sharp cheddar.

I love soup and make lots of different kinds. One of our favorites is homemade tomato with grilled cheese sandwiches (using really good bread, mozzarella and cheddar cheese). Also love to make cream of broccholi. BTW the chicken noodle soup at Chick Fil A is really good.
