I am planning my April trip and I have a long list of restaurants we want to eat in. I thought I would see what others love to have as their first dinner in the world. I was thinking maybe character to get us into the Disney spirt, but there are soooo many great other palces I'm having a hard time choosing.

So, what is your must have first dinner in Disney?

This September will be our first trip w/ the kids & we're startig things off w/ dinner at Chef Mickey's!

Our first dinner was Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary when the kids were little (we even took the oldest when he graduated high school with the girlfriend and they had a blast waving the napkins and dancing). You can't lose on that one.

Ohana was our favorite on our first trip. The food is plentiful and divine and the entertainment for the kids is really cute.

I agree with TigerKat--California Grill is almost always our choice for a first night dinner.

2005-We went to Chef Mickeys. After a day of traveling, it was a tad overwhelming.
2006-CRT. A perfect way to start our Grand Gathering surprise trip!
2007-Arrived late afternoon and had dinner at the resort. Maybe not exciting but very relaxing & refreshing after a day of taveling.

Of course, just our humble opinions!

Our first day we don't want to waste it on a park, we head to Downtown Disney and eat at Earl of Sandwich.

Our first dinner for our first Disney trip was at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We had a lot of fun and got us into the Disney mood.

We too had a list of restaurants that we were choosing as our 1st and after much consideration......

Cinderella's Royal Table was our choice

Our 1st day is going to be spent, mainly, poolside. We have to get up at 3:00am and be at the airport by 5:00am. Our plane leaves at 6:00am and arrives in Orlando by 8:30am. We figured we needed some rest before we party hardy so after swimming we will go back to our rooms shower and get ready (must look nice because they take a family picture!) at be at the Magic Kingdom for our 5:00pm rezzies with Cindy. What better way to get into the mood of Disney then at MK at the Castle!!

You'll have a great time no matter where you eat!! Enjoy your vaca!!!

This year it is Chef Mickey's, the last time I went I think it was Fulton's Crab House.

I prefer it to be Chef Mickeys!

In 2001 we were staying the Poly and did Chef Mickeys 1st night. We didn't want to use a park day, so it was a great option. The monorail over and the characters really put us in the mood!

In 2003 we were at the Beach Club with a group and we all ate at Cape May Cafe first night. That was really fun and the food was great.

This coming Jan we are at the Poly again. We were thinking of a boat ride to Ft. Wilderness to have dinner at Trails' End. Haven't decided yet. :confused3

Typically, we take a VERY early flight so we can arrive around 10am or so - we are usually to the parks by 11! And we go straight to Casey's for our 1st meal that is a tradition, except last time and we were so hungry (Our flt was earlier...we got up at 5am) and we stay at the BC so we walked over to get some fish and chips from Harry Ramsden - my husband, Josh loves that place!

In the evenings we usually run back to the hotel and quickly unpack at some point because so many times our room is not ready so last time we just strolled around Epcot and took life easy and at at the Cantina de San Angel- we usually do not make ADRs for the first night because I never know what will happen to our plans so I do not like being tied to anything-

Our last two trips we started our dinners at Fort Wildnerness, the 1st year at the Hoop-de-Doo (great fun!) and the 2nd a...oh, I don't remember the name, but it's a buffett dinner there at Wildnerness Lodge. The cool thing there is that we stayed at OKW so we took a boat from one of the parks and on the way back we go to see the water parade... very cool!

O'hana's has great food and would be awesome place to start too!!! One of my favorites!!!!!

Chef Mickeys has become the tradition.

Its become our tradition too, but I have to say that the shine is wearing pretty thin at CM's. Its starting to feel like "Groundhog Day". Go to CM's, go to CR's gift shop, fight with the kids because they want EVERYTHING NOW. Go out on the deck, watch Wishes, then back to whatever resort we are staying at.

I'm thinking Hoop Dee Doo, will be our first night next time. Or DTD like a PP has said. But not CM's.

We love California Grill, but always wait till the last night for that one. So for the first night to make sort of bookends, we go to Narcoosee's during the fireworks. That way we see the MK fireworks the first night from Narcoosee's and the last night from Cali Grill.
