Your FAVORITE dish at Blue Bayou?

Another vote for the short rib!

I was there for lunch a week and a half ago. We had an 11:40 ressie for two and got the second to last table by the water. I didn't even have to ask!

My favorite dish is creme brulee - they put the dishes in Mickey ear configuration so you get to eat three flavors!

Second favorite is filet mignon, though they used to have a pork tenderloin that was to die for several years ago ...

Filet mignon is dinner menu only, not sure about creme brulee.

I've never been at lunch, but the Surf & Turf is delicious!! I love it so much, that I've ordered it every time for the last 4 years. :rotfl2: :confused3 :cool1:

Question: is the Monte Cristo really more than one person could handle? I'm thinking on ordering 2 for my kids, my MIL and I. DH has to eat separately (he likes huge portions!)

Nobody in our party has finished one by themselves in one sitting, and there are some big guys in my Disney group. Its not so much that its large as its so heavy, so you can only eat half then you feel like you need to take a nap!l I would think 2 would be enough for 4 people in most cases.

The creme trio has been gone for at least two years now :( they still have the vanilla one but not the three :(

Great! this is the only way we can afford going there, so sharing the Monte Cristos for the 4 of us, along with a salad/gumbo, we'll be fine!
We loved the view when we first entered PoC, DH wanted so bad to dine there!

Another question, do we need a reservation for early lunch in a Tuesday in slow season? even though DH loved it, he wants to play it by ear, and not be so rigid in the reservations (love DLR!) :lovestruc

We went New Year's Day for dinner. DH had the surf-n-turf, and I had the crab cakes. We shared! Best solution ever!

I always make a reservation just because. I have made a reservation for the same day during the off-season, but I haven't ever just walked up and been able to be seated.

Also, don't get suckered into the "split" fee at BB, which is $12 per entree. If you want to split two Monte Cristos, then ask for two extra plates and split everything up yourself. If you ask to "split" the Monte Cristo, they will charge you $12 for each sandwich, but will bring two gumbos (or salads, whichever you choose). If you don't care about everyone having their own gumbo, then just split the meal up yourself for free. Make sense?

Filet Mignon is a top choice for dining enjoyment. 2nd would have to be the salmon. We are accustome to fresh salmon, prepared many diffrent ways, the BB's salmon is something to be enjoyed....:cool1:

Do you just tell them you don't want the split plate charge? I just assumed that if you were sharing they would charge you. Should I just say that DS and I are going to share? He wouldn't eat the gumbo or salad anyways.

Yeah don't say anything about "splitting", just ask for extra plates.

Thanks for the tips! My kids will not eat either salad or gumbo, so it's no use for them! I always thought that they would charge you either way.
For me and DMIL, a salad will be nice, so we will split.

I also love their Filet Mignon, and omg...the BB potatoes....sooooo yummy! My mouth is watering just thinking of them! They used to have this awesome wedge salad with little crumbly-things all over it - but unfortunately, I think that's gone. It was soooo good too. Can't wait to go there in a few months!

We totally love the Surf and Turf. We also like very much the Tesoro Island Chicken.
One does not make reservations actually, but rather a p.s. meaning priority seating, which will allow one to be seated before a walk up guest. Also a waterside table is so very nice.

~~ I love you Phil, and you will forever be with me! Forever my very best and most special friend! I love you to no end. ~~

yes, it will be plenty. I cannot eat a whole one myself, neither can DBF, I usually end up with one of his pieces and he eats a little off my plate. We do both order when we go to BB but that's because we both like different food items. :)

It depends on the actual dates I think. I've been able to do this on a day it's pouring rain but otherwise we will always make a reservation for BB. We've "attempted" walking up many times and we've only been able to do it on rainy days.

Instead of splitting with your DMIL just get 1 plate for the kids and have your DMIL eat their soup or salad. Why pay the $12 split plate fee when the kids won't eat their soup or salad anyway. Technically your DMIL would be sharing with one of the kids and so would you but that might work better anyway because my kids aren't fans of the sides. Then, your kids simply get a clean plate for their sandwich pieces. :) Just a thought.

OMG I LOVED the wedge salad....I HATE that it's gone. It was a wedge of lettuce with bleu cheese crumbles, bacon and grape tomatoes served with a balsamic dressing.....BEST salad ever! I love those potatoes too.....soooo good!

No, they are not PS any longer, they are now called reservations.
