So I find myself in the odd position of NOT doing the dining plan for the first time since it was offered, and staying at a resort that doesn't have a real counter service location right now (CR). Great planning, grand planner!

We're not doing dining because a.) we're protesting the 2008 changes with our pocketbook and b.) it's a partial business trip where some of my meals will be paid for. Our pre-dining plan trips were 80% CS, so we don't have a problem with that, but we've been spoiled!

So--what are your favorite CS locations? I want to be prepared with a good list so we're not eating burgers and fries for 8 days (not that there is anything wrong with burgers and fries).

Also, how are the CS at Poly and GF? We used to often eat at POP when we stayed there, but that isn't going to happen as CR, I guess.

Thanks.

Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney are two of the best restaurants - counter or table service - on property! Pizzafari in Animal Kingdom has an Italian sandwich that I love, too. When in doubt, I go with a chicken ceasar salad, which seem to be consistant all over.

At Mk, I really like Columbia House. They have a great sandwich with broccoli slaw on it (Starboard), great chowder and salads. I also like Cosmic Rays for their rotisserie chicken.

At AK - I am looking forward to trying the CS at Yak and Yeti. It sounds really good.

Epcot has lots of really great CS in the different countries. I especially like Tangierine Cafe at Morocco.

MGM (DHS) however, has always been a little disappointing in the variety of foods available at CS. So this is usually the day that I reserve for hamburger and chicken nuggets.

Gasparilla's Grill & Games which is the Grand Floridian's counter service locations is one of my favorite cs locations in WDW. Besides that I also enjoyed Captin Cook's, so I would recommend both locations. Besides that Earl of Sandwich is another one of my favorites. As for the parks at the Magic Kingdom I like Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, Epcot I enjoy Electric Umbrella, Hollywood Studios I like ABC Commissary and at the Animal Kingdom I like Flame Tree BBQ and Pizzafari.

Also the Contemporary does have a secondary counter service location and I am not referring to the Tempo Grab & Go location. It's called the Sand Bar and is located right by the swimming pool. Their menu is not as big as the Food & Fun Center was, however it's got your standard items. The main difference is they are not selling the refillable mugs there if you wanted to purchase them.

Hands down, our favorite CS is the Tangierine Cafe!! (Morroco/EPCOT) We always have the Shawarma Platter. Lamb, chicken, couscous salad, tabbouleh, hummus & Morrocan flatbread. :thumbsup2

I love Pinocchio's at the MK. The veggie pizza is so good.

Columbia Harbor House
Wolfgang Puck Express
Earl of Sandwich
Fish and Chips window at Epcot
Sunshine Seasons
Flame Tree

Columbia Harbor House at MK
Flame Tree at Animal Kingdom

We enjoyed Mara at the Animal Kingdom Lodge--thought the cheeseburgers were better than most

And we love the Pepper Market (a lot of people hate it--so beware) at the CSR

We really enjoy:

AK: Flame Tree

MK: Columbia Harbor House

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons

DHS: I can't remember eating at any counter service there the 2 times we've been.

Pecos Bill's and Columbia Harbor House in MK.

Electric Umbrella and Sunshine Seasons in Epcot.

Flame Tree in AK.

MK - Caseys for hot dogs or Peco Bills for a great burger topping bar

MGM - nothing :confused3

AK - Flame Tree BBQ

EPCOT - now this is where we get our eat on....China for shrimp fried rice, England for Fish and Chips, Germany for Brats and Kraut, Sunshine Seasons for great salads and soups, Norway for dessert

DTD - EoS the basil, tomato and mozz sandwich is to die for, WPE is out of this world, love the food here

MK - Casey's for hot dogs or corn dog nuggets

Epcot - Fish and Chips in England

AK - Flame Tree Bar B Q

Studios - Yuk! :sad2:

I'm also not doing the DDP for the first time, and am looking at prices at CS.
I love Tangerine Cafe (vegetarian platter, even though I'm not vegeterain), Figaro Fries at Pinocchio's Village Haus are big enough for me to make a meal, and at Mara's, the butternut squash soup with a side of the whole wheat pita chips makes an excellent meal. Of course, a sundae at Ghiardelli's is also a fairly inexpensive, and yummy, meal.

My all time favorite CS is at DTD - Wolfgang Puck Express...:goodvibes
In the parks...
MK - Columbia Harbour House
Epcot - can't think of a bad one, but we usually do Tangierine Cafe or Sunshine Seasons (love the desserts here)
MGM - Backlot Express or Starring Roles
AK - Flametree

We love Columbia Harbour House in the MK. They have fantastic salads and sandwichs. We also enjoy Earl of Sandwich in DD, Fish and Chips in the UK at Epcot and Flame Tree Barbecue at AK.
