We recently went to Cozumel on the Carnival Fantasy and went to Nachi Cocum while in Cozumel. While we absolutely LOVED it, we want to try something different each trip.

Please share your favorite excursion in Cozumel and why.

Tulum, fantastic day rather long but if you like visting stuff this is a A list one care you go to the mainland by boats, these are low in the water and enclosed an do bring on seasickness.

The Dolphins at Coz are good as well.

If you choose to take the entire day, the Toulum (sp) Mayan ruins on the Mexican coast are well worth the trip. Not sure if they still have the Xel Ha (sp) snorkling option at the end of the excursion, but if they do, then it's definitely worth the trip. (you snorkle in a lagoon that was once a Mayan temple before it sank in a hurricane, so it's like snorkling inside of a tropical fish tank complete with underwater buildings)

We LOVED Chankanaab and took a taxi there ourselves. It was beautiful and I wish we had spent a longer day there but my 2 y.o. was wiped out!

What is there to do at Chankanaab? What is it like?
There's a pool there with a bar, a beach, a small lagoon for children, dancing fountains for the kids to run through, a small playground, plenty of places to snorkel, trails, good food and of course the dolphins and Manatees. Also the bath house there is nice and clean and the employees are very friendly. We felt completely safe there.

We don't want to spend a large amount of money although we'd love to swim with the dolphins!
There's a coupon on their site

We did get to do the Dolphin Encounter but booked it ourselves as then our 2 youngest children were free. From what I've read here on the boards you can no longer book the dolphin part of it yourself due to DCL buying out the day at the Dolphins. You can still visit Chankanaab though and it is probably the cheapest excursion you can do and it's very close to the port!
That being said we can't wait to go to Chankanaab again so we have more time at the beach and snorkeling and relaxing next time...whenever that may be!!!:goodvibes

They do have a manatee encounter now too that looks neat! http://www.dolphindiscovery.com/cozumel/cozumel-activities-manatee-encounter.asp
Also for those of you with little ones. I do wish that I had known I could take a stroller there! Then he could have napped in it in the shade and we could have stayed longer! Plus it was really hard passing him back and forth to carry him past all the shops in the port and down the pier to get back to the ship after Chankanaab(he zonked on the 10 minute trip back to the port and was totally out of it and heavy as can be!!!!) So be sure to bring your stroller, you'll need it. Also be sure to bring some shopping money as they have tons of locally made stuff at the prt and most of it is under $5.00. I could have probably gotten all my Christmas shopping done there at the port for my entire family for under $50.00!!! They do have more expensive things like jewelry too.

We enjoyed our beach day at Playa Mia. Treated very well and the beach was lovely. DH did the Mexican cooking school there while we were on the beach. He said it was one of the best he had done.

I really like the jeep excursion. It's not off road anymore, but you stop at a bunch of great places...a little town, a beach break, a really nice lunch, and you still stop at the "Pee Pee Station" too. I'm seriously considering do it again in March although we also liked the nature hike excursion...it makes me feel less guilty about Palo souffle.

Loved loved loved the tequila seminar at Mr Sancho's! The highlight of my trip! They also have all-inclusive beach packages, and offer horseback riding, ATV tours, beach massages, etc. It looks a bit cheesy from the website but it was really very nice!

The highlight of our family's cruise was the 4 Elements tour at Cozumel. It was a day long adventure in a natural setting guided by Myan locals. We got to swim, bike, zip line and have local food. It was a wonderful oppertunity to learn about the local culture and their connection to their part of the world.

The only info I would give is that they only have pictures available for purchase.

We really liked this one, too! It's a great way to see the island.

I thought I had my excursion chosen, but now I think it will Chankanaab.

I have 3 boys 10, 12 and 16. Two of them love history and water and one is very sports oriented. I thought of doing the ruins with Playa Mia beach, but I do not want to be on a crowded beach with a lot of partying.

Chankanaab from the photos I saw looks like it also has a pool ....is this true?
The comments I read on trip advisor were very good, along with the photos.
The snorkeling looks great. I read and saw that there is also a nature component to the place plus the DCL excursion takes you to Discover Mexico which appeal to the two older guys.

I saw from their website that it looks like there is plenty to do, plus food and shopping.

Has anyone done the DCL excurison to Discover Mexico and Chankanaab? It says it about 5 hours long. How long do you stay at Chankanaab? It indicated on the DCL website that your at discover mexico about 75 minutes.
Also, it said lunch was included, where do you eat?

Any help and information would be appreciated

Happy New Year!:wizard:
