I was looking into this and was wondering what it was like for other families. My kids include DD7 & DS3. The website was pretty vague.

How long does it last? Are my children age appropriate? Is it offered daily? Is a snack included? Did you feel it was worth it?

TIA! :thumbsup2

We did the Discover the Magic tour in July 2013, after reading Tom's blog. It was great for a special surprise for DD's birthday. My kids were 3.5 and 6 at the time, and they were the perfect age for it. I think most of the kids in our group were between 3 and 9 years old.

I have tons of pictures from it in my trip report here:(but it's a treasure hunt, so don't read it if you want to be able to play along, as I give away where all of the treasure chests are hidden!)

We got to go on 3 rides through the exit, we each got a souvenir medal and a frozen apple juice in a cute little cup. I think it was worth it to do once, as a birthday activity. The kids had a lot of fun and got to make friends with the other kids on the tour. We had 5 days in the parks on that trip, and the tour took up about 2.5 hrs of one of the mornings, so I wouldn't have done it if we only had 3 days in the parks. I'm pretty sure it's only offered on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and starts at 10am.

We went this past March and my son (9 at the time) had a blast and I enjoyed tagging along ;-)

Since the tour started at 10am, and you have to check in 15 minutes early, I decided this morning would be a sleep in a bit morning. We got to the tour check in kiosk at 9:45 and got checked in. We had two tour guides and they were wonderful. Very entertaining and good with wrangling the kids. There were about 7 kids and one tour guide always stayed in the front, with one bringing up the rear.

We followed clues from land to land, looking for treasure chests. We got to go on Jungle Cruise, Pirates and Buzz without any waits, that alone is worth the cost on a busy Spring Break Sunday! We also took the raft over to the island to look for the treasure. At the end, we put our puzzle pieces together and headed off to Mickey’s house! Mickey sat and listened to our guides explain the fun things we had done, and Mickey gave each person (adults too!) a Discover the Magic lanyard w/ medal and also a pin, my son that that was AWESOME since he's a pin collector! Then Mickey posed for a group and individual pictures (there is a PhotoPass photog here as well).

We were then treated to frozen apple juices in a souvenir cup. That is when the tour disbanded and we were on our own again (about lunch time).

Thank you to everyone for their responses! Greatly appreciated! DD7 is such a scaredy cat that I can't even get her to ride Jungle Cruise, POTC, Astro Blasters, but we were able to get her to HM because it had the Nightmare Before Christmas décor (we love Jack and Sally). She cried in the elevator and held onto me for dear life. She doesn't want to go back.

We did this tour last Thanksgiving and ours was pretty much as was described, however we didn't take the raft to the island due to rain and we got hot chocolate in souvenir travel mugs. My kids were 9, 8, 4 & 2 and all LOVED it!

This just reassured me and my plan to take the kiddos in December. I was worried my 8 year old would not enjoy it as much as my 4 and 5 year olds but it sounds like she will. So fun. Can't wait!!
