We've booked a luau for two next Feb. and our only concern is the fact that we'll be placed at a common table, or so I understand, perhaps with other couples, perhaps as the odd couple out among a very large group. We've dined a Teppanyaki numerous times, both as a couple and as a group of 6 or more so we've seen both sides of this coin. The last time at Teppanyaki, for instance, it was we two and a family from La. The father was outgoing but the mom seemed to be put off by the expense and the 3 teen kids obviously wanted to be anywhere but there. It was like the meal after funeral for that group, so we just split a large saki and had our own party.

I'd welcome hearing the experiences of couples who did the luau as a twosome. We're not sold on the idea of going, we're just looking for new Disney stuff we haven't done yet and we've popped into the Poly bar right off the monorail a few times and enjoyed it there, so this seem like a good bet. Thanks in advance for sharing your story.

I did this a few years ago and the Luau is loaded with families and kids- I wouldnt go again- it wasnt that great- the entertainment is nice enough but the food was just OK.

My husband and I were at the Spirit of Aloha dinner on the 4th. It was really nice! We had a table for 2 and we saw several other tables for 2 nearby, but all the tables were very close together. Neither family on either side of us was particularly friendly so we all pretty much kept to ourselves.

We had WAY too much food though. Our waiter told us it's plated for 4 so all tables get that no matter how many are seated. We enjoyed the food and the show and we're glad we went. It was a fun experience for us Canadians :thumbsup2

This gives you kind of a sense of how the tables are positioned (I was taking a photo of our waiter bringing in the lava desserts)

We are also going to try SOAS on our next trip and there
will be 3 of us and an odd number so we may be seated with
another family like we were at the 50s Prime Time Cafe.
I didn't enjoy being seated with people we didn't know but
if they wouldn't have been so annoying I probably wouldn't have
mind it.
