I was reading the job ads and one of them said "must have enjoyed success in your chosen field"

For some reason within the context of the ad it made me picture some guy sitting in a field somewhere typing away at his desk.

It got me to thinking I know I am in my chosen field but I know some other people just kind of "fall into" their field ;)

So did you chose or fall into your field? :) ( and did you step on anything on your way in? ;) )

Well I chose what I am doing now... which is staying at home, but I fell into my previous field. However, the tech world in general is something I did fall into, but loved enough to keep choosing to go back to if I needed to (if that makes sense)

Hmm I sorta fell and sorta chose. My degree is in public relations but I was considering going to law school. I worked as a legal assistant before making the law school plunge. I decided it may not be the career field for me, but by then I had some good legal experience. I am now a contracts administrator moving up the corporate totem pole.

I fell into it.....While I was busy trying to drop out of high school, typing was the only thing that stuck in my head ~ and that was in 9th grade.

After I got married and divorced, it was the only (legal) skill I had but it had been over 10 years since I had done anything with it. I found a sympathetic employer who told me and the 'boss' that my typing would get faster as I worked at it so there was my first job. And it has been part of my work all the rest my life, now.

I sort of chose and sort of fell.....

I went to school for Special Education, with every intention of teaching in the public schools. While still in school I began working with Developmentally Disabled adults in a job coaching situation. This led to an internship placement at the school that the agency also had. After I completed my student teaching they offered me a position teaching adults in a day program. I have been working with adults ever since, over 20 years. I now work with teenagers with Autism in a residential setting.

I chose my field. I am a recreation major. I originally wanted to go into cruise ships and become a youth counselor when I finished school, but after doing my CP I decided I wanted to work at Disney full-time instead.

I did choose my field. I have a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling and I am currently a Rehabilitation Counselor. :) I actually had someone tell me not too long ago that it was pretty odd that I am actually working in my field :confused3
