We have had a long weekend trip planned for some time now. Bringing 2 granddaughters 4 and 6 year olds who will want to see princesses at Disneyland. Of all weekends 5/31, should we consider postponing til later in year, we would have to pay airline cancellation fee but otherwise we should be ok with tickets and hotel. Hopefully they won’t open the second attraction on the other date, we are considering Mid November.

Where are you staying? If you're staying in walking distance and won't have to deal with traffic nonsense, that will be much better than any plan that involves driving to the parks.

I'd probably still go if your focus is princesses - not a lot of overlap with the SW crowds. But once they announce the details of the reservation system, there should be a better idea of how the parks will be impacted.

We don't have the details yet, but my belief is that Disney will allow advance reservations only to get into Star Wars land for the first three weeks, with the express intent of getting people who are hoping to see it to stay home if they don't have an advance reservation. If that turns out to be the case, I believe that the opening weekend of Star Wars land could turn out to be one of the best weekends to go to the parks -- everyone without advance reservations for Star Wars land will stay away to avoid crazy crowds, and the number of people they who have Star Wars reservations will be very limited (because they won't let in more people than can ride the Millennium Falcon ride during the day).

I could be wrong about any one of those assumptions, which would lead my conclusion to be wrong. But if somebody asked me to bet $5 right now, I would bet that this board will be full of posts on May 31 talking about the shocking lack of crowds at the park.

Keep your original plans.
November won't be any better crowd wise in the parks.

The park hours for May will be longer, spreading out people in the parks.
November will have shorter hours and the weather isn't as nice.

As long as they don't want to see Princess Leia you'll be fine.

Have fun with your DGD's

I personally think it will be a madhouse come the 31st even with reservation only for star wars land.

If it were me I would wait but either way it will be busy.

I agree with above, I think it's gonna be a madhouse no matter what. It's impossible to predict! We've been in November where it has been busy, but manageable, kind of depends exactly what your dates are. If you can time your mid-November trip after the park is decorated for Christmas, it's the most magical time of all (in my opinion). E

Mid Nov could definitely see the next attraction (ROTR is the Big One!) opened. Go 5/31, enjoy your trip!

When is the last day you can change your flight? If you are already considering paying to change the flight, maybe you can wait till the last minute to see what reservations will be like for Star Wars and IF they will only allow people into Galaxys Edge if they have a reservation (like alvernon90 suggests). If this is the case, then other parts of the park may not be as busy. Then again, all 3 Disney property hotels are completely sold out for 5/30, so it does seem like it will be crowded.
