I have been a watcher of Y&R for ,...do I dare admit this??? Yep, for the past 32 years!! I started watching this over summer with my grandmother at the age of , yep, 10!!

We must be about the same age. I remember the first show ever, I was out of school for the summer. I remember we had to come home early from school shopping because mama had to get home to see the new soap that was coming on.

Several months later, the Cosmetic Wars began between Newman and Jabot. Tensions rose as nearly everyone's mate was the enemy. Victor was Newman and wife Nikki worked for Jabot. Jack was Jabot and wife Phyllis worked for Newman. Neil worked for Newman and fiancé Drucilla worked for Jabot. Victoria and Nick were in the middle with parents on opposite sides. Victoria was resentful that Victor passed her over and mentored Nick to take over Newman one day while Nick was unable to forgive Victor for being too close to his wife Sharon. Newman Enterprises outbid Jabot to buy out Satine Cosmetics for Women of Color due to inside information that Drucilla let slip to Neil. Jabot decided to resurrect a similar shelved project of Ashley's called Tuvia to compete. Payback was had when Drucilla found out that Newman was trying to woo Satine creator, Damon Porter, as their chemist for the newly named Safra line. Drucilla stole him away to work for Jabot during Ashley's maternity leave. Jabot was still hurting financially, but saw Tuvia as their savior, depending on their reputation and fine product to put them back in the black. But Victor could not let Jabot win the war, so he blackmailed Michael Baldwin into paying off large retailers to give Newman the prime shelf space normally held by Jabot.

With both product's rollout only a day away, Victor felt the need to find very pregnant Ashley where she was nesting at a resort just days away from delivery, to tell her not to worry - which made her worry. The next day Newman's Safra was selling like hotcakes and finished a close second to Jabot's Tuvia. The Abbotts were shocked, the Newmans jubilant. Nick smelled a rat. Ashley knew Victor pulled a fast one. She decided to drive to Genoa City to convince him to stop whatever he was doing to Jabot. Ashley's SUV was broad-sided just outside Genoa City, and Jack and Brad were on the scene as she was cut out of her SUV and rushed to the hospital battered and bruised. As Brad held the hand of the unconscious Ashley, the fetal heart monitor stopped. Ashley was rushed into surgery, but baby Robert, named after John's father, died. Nearly everyone blamed Victor Newman. John Abbott went out to the ranch and punched Victor in the face. Ashley blamed herself, especially after Olivia delivered the news that she couldn't have more children. When Victor came to see Ashley, she told him to go away. Brad went gunning for Victor to even the score. Meanwhile Ashley had another breakdown and happily showed people her newborn son which was nothing but a baby blanket, and refused to allow Brad to have a memorial service. Ashley got the help and medication she needed, and returned home.

Ashley spent a few months nearly catatonic until they realized she snapped out of it whenever Victor's name was mentioned. They got Victor to speak to her and she eventually came out of it completely. Convinced it was caused by her untold secret, Ashley determined to tell Victor that her daughter Abby was his child by stolen sperm sample. Nikki begged her to be the one to tell but Abby beat everyone to it, telling Victor "Momma says you are my daddy." Victor confronted Brad, Brad told him it was true, and Victor was livid with all involved. Victor wanted unsupervised visitation with Abby. Ashley wanted to allow it but Brad was against it.

At least when Reva got pregnant on GL they had an explanation! Her meds had brought her out of menopause. And she did a good job laughing it up before she would actually believe it was true. I'm sure we are just supposed to forget the past (once again) and think that Ashley getting pregnant is just a normal event.

I just can't seem to wrap my mind around this story line. I just don't see how it will play out. I guess there is just a part of me that is waiting for Nikki and Victor to get back together.

And she played it that way, too! It is still a stupid storyline, but she made it fun with her attitude about it. Kim Zimmer is one of the best!

I have been watching it since the very first week it was on....3/4 of it all I can no longer remember....all the stories all the people...geesh I cant remember all the happened a week ago


The relationship with Ashley and Victor goes way back, they were in love, she was pregnant, she terminated the pregnancy, went off the deep end and he helped her find her way back. When she was able to bring Victor back from his "Darkness" after Sabrina, it in turn was Payback so to speak that they had this bond from so long ago.


When Ashley got pregnant with Abbey, it was through donation, she later miraculously found out that Victor was the father. Therefore, starting that long lost love kindling again.

As for Victor's speech, he has always had that very low, spit in the corner of his mouth, speech. Kinds drives us all crazy, but he is so nasty and manipulative that we love it!

The rumor about the actor that plays Ashley and her being a man, I remember that too. I think its because she had that unibrow going on and that deep, voice that people started that. She was actually written into the show when she was "coming home" from College along with Jack. John and Jill were married then.

Oh boy, the drama!

Adam starts to loose his sight like his mother

wow bummer....guess her disease is hereditary. Maybe that's when victor decides to get him out of prison. Maybe him loosing his sight will make him a new man. I like Adam....he has this lost little boy face even when he has his tantrums and lies and does the unmanageable wrong.

This thing with Ashley and Victor is so untrue. I mean they have no chemistry like they use to have. It's like they want it to be what it use to be so they go through the motions but every time they kiss i feel they should be shaking hands.

Next week sounds good. I wonder if Chloe will marry Billy...she does love him

Karen and Tyra are ridiculous...Karen is acting so weired, not to mention scarry
