yep, she was Ashley back when Terry Lester was Jack. I was so in love with him! He left after Cricket came on. I remember hearing that he didn't think she was talented and was getting so much air time because of her daddy (the show's creater). I hated her for years over running off Terry! Anyone remember when he came out with that water proof shower poster in the speedo? I was all of about 12, but I wanted one so bad! He died recently.

So Ashley was an adult when I was in middle school. I'm AMA (advanced maternal age), so what would she be considered?

Please get rid of Clint!!!! And that WOMAN with the HAIR!!!!! Ack!! Katherine needs to go back to being Katherine; Murph needs to rescue her and marry her. (THAT will drive Jill insane!!! lol!) Clint needs to take that puke guy from commercials back to whatever hole they climbed out of and the show just needs to get on with it. I love that Jack has coached Colleen in how to get under Victor's skin....so cool. Ashley is gonna scream bloody murder when she finds out Victor is plotting against her and for her at the same time. Someday, some woman is going to give him JUST what he deserves. Probably not Ashley, poor pathetic Ashley. Last time I saw her she was makin' it with some young kid on some other show and now she's back with the old man. She's gotten kind of skanky. I DO remember her eyebrows, was that the same actress? Maybe someone can fill me in ..since I'm a new viewer to Y & R. What exactly is the "history" between Ashley and Victor. Why was it she was able to "save him" and brought him back to town. (honestly I thought it was a bit much that he went off his nut about Sabrina...from what I've seen of his character, while her death was tragic...it just didn't strike me that he'd be devasted to the point of giving up his family. He sure did "get over" Sabrina once Ashley showed up. So much for his being devasted.
Also..is it just me..but does Victor(or actor that plays him) mumble quite a bit ..I find myself having to listen carefully sometimes when he speaks. I don't know if it's the tone of his voice..or if I'm going deaf! Although, I don't have any difficulty with any of the other characters!

I have been a watcher of Y&R for ,...do I dare admit this??? Yep, for the past 32 years!! I started watching this over summer with my grandmother at the age of , yep, 10!!


The relationship with Ashley and Victor goes way back, they were in love, she was pregnant, she terminated the pregnancy, went off the deep end and he helped her find her way back. When she was able to bring Victor back from his "Darkness" after Sabrina, it in turn was Payback so to speak that they had this bond from so long ago.


When Ahley got pregnant with Abbey, it was through dontation, she later miraculously found out that Victor was the father. Therefore, starting that long lost love kindling again.

As for Victor's speech, he has always had that very low, spit in the corner of his mouth, speech. Kinds drives us all crazy, but he is so nasty and manipulative that we love it!

The rumor about the actor that plays Ashley and her being a man, I remeber that too. I think its because she had that unibrow going on and that deep, voice that people started that. She was actually written into the show when she was "coming home" from College along with Jack. John and Jill were married then.

Victor went back and forth between Nikki and Ashley for years. Ashley was also pregnant with Victor's baby years ago. Then Nikki was diagnosed with cancer, and they thought she was dying. Victor went back to her, and Ashley aborted the baby (one of the 1st of those storylines in soaps) so Nikki could have some happiness before she died-which of course didn't happen. This kind of explains why Ashley stole his sperm and got pregnant with Abby-she was trying to replace the baby she aborted years before.

Did you know that Nikki also had a baby with Jack, but he was born too young and his organs were donated to another baby? Nikki also almost married Brad, but ran out on the ceremony when Victor was shot (I think?) and they thought he was dying.


Everyone else remembers Ester's guy from some commercials. Does anyone remember him from Empty Nest? The main character was an OB, and his 2 grown daughters, Carol and Barbara, moved back in with him. This guy was Charlie, the obnoxious neighbor. He was always hitting on the girls.

Ashley Abbott first came into contact with Victor Newman while working at Jabot Cosmetics, where she created new fragrances for perfumes and colognes. While employed at Jabot, Ashley discovered that John Abbott was not her real father. Instead, she was the product of an adulterous relationship between her mother, Dina Mergeron, and Brent Davis. Devastated by this shocking news, Ashley's mental health began to spiral out of control. Anxious to get far away from her life in Genoa City, the unstable Ashley took a job at a roadside dinner and called herself "Annie." While on shift, an opportunistic truck driver recognized Ashley Abbott and kidnapped her for ransom. Taking matters into his capable hands, Victor Newman ran to her aid and rescued her from her assailant. Emotionally unfit to return to her home, Ashley stayed at the Newman ranch where Victor watched over her. Aware of her husband's tendencies, Nikki was uncomfortable with the young Ashley Abbott living in their home. Despite Nikki's intervention, Ashley and Victor fell in love. Eventually Victor would divorce Nikki and marry Ashley.

When Nikki was inflicted with a terminal illness, Victor reconciled with his dying wife. Victor, however, didn't know that Ashley was pregnant with his child. Ashley, fearful of loosing Victor and becoming an unwed mother, aborted her baby. Victor was furious when he learned of her actions and ended their relationship. As a result, Ashley suffered a nervous breakdown in New York City. Hysterical and without identification, she was committed to a mental institution and placed under the care of Dr. Steven Lassister.

Victor soon learned of Nikki's plot to keep him by her side and quickly filed for a divorce. He still had feelings for Ashley and hoped he could still reconcile with her. Meanwhile, Ashley had fallen in love Dr. Lassister and planned to marry him. Victor tried to reach Ashley to warn her that their affair was about to be exposed in Leanna Love's book, 'Ruthless: The Victor Newman Story.' He was too late and Ashley ended up marrying Steven Lassister, who later passed away.

Thank you for the back story. It does explain quite a bit. I also wondered why it was that Nikki disliked Ashley. This certainly does explain things.
I also wondered WHY Nikki was so determined to get Victor and bring him back. She never seemed bothered by Sabrina, but really disliked Ashley. Now I know why.
Another newer viewer observation. Wasn't Victor a little "old" for Sabrina?....I mean this was his daughter's friend. For lack of a better word...kind of "icky".. While I've been waching I haven't seen Victor and Nikki together..they were separated. She was the guy who scammed her.(forgot his name..sorry) I do think she and Victor would be a better pairing. Although I like her with Paul too.
Oh and by the way..he sure treats his kids like crapola. I'm surprised any of them want anything to do with him.
