I also wanted to prepare you guys for tomorrow's show. We will actually see Brad's body frozen under the icy water! Its rather disturbing!
I feel this way too! His girls are so devastated and they don't even know yet!!
A worried Colleen continues waiting while a search team looks for Brad, who's missing in the middle of a snowstorm. However, her worst fears come true when she gets the bad news: her father is dead. The news comes shortly after Noah recalls that Brad was the one who pulled him out of the icy lake.
Colleen is devastated by the loss of her fathre. "Colleen's overwhelmed with grief," sighs her portrayer, Tammin Sursok. "She just doesn't know what to do with herself or how to handle this. It's too much."
Many other Genoa City residents are rocked by Brad's death, as well. Noah feels much guilt since he was the one Brad rescued from the lake, and Abby blames Eden since she was the one who took Noah ice skating in the first place. Meanwhile, a devastated Sharon works to comprehend the news of Brad's death -- especially since the last conversation she had with him consisted of him professing his love for her. "So many people are involved in this," notes Sursok. "The sadness spreads to everyone."
At Brad's funeral, the tension builds and finally boils to an eruption. Colleen overhears Victor offering Abby a million dollars to any charity of her choice in Carlton's honor, and she's pushed to the breaking point. She finally confronts Victor -- right there in front of everyone. "She screams at him that he has no business being there because he hated Brad," shares Sursok. "She's so angry and just tells him off. He's the last person she wants to see."
Ashley and Victoria ask Victor to make his exit, which infuriates him. "Even though Ashley's been living with Victor, Colleen doesn't have any problems with her," clarifies Sursok. "If anything, Ashley is looking out for her. Colleen realizes that she needs to help Ashley in being there for Abby. Abby's her sister, even if they're not biologically related. That doesn't matter to her. They need to stick together."
Expect to see a stronger Colleen in the future. "Up to now, at least during my time playing her, she's been pretty laid-back," says Sursok. "So it was interesting to do scenes where she's so emotional and lashing out. But it's tough dealing with a death of someone close, so it's understandable that she'd act out like this. It's going to take a long time for everyone to recover from something this big."
Kay finally gets the news she's been waiting to hear this week when Michael and Amber deliver the news that they have a court order for a DNA test. Katherine finally has a chance to prove her true identity.
"Kay is in seventh heaven," affirms Jeanne Cooper. "She wants to get this whole thing over with. Kay knows that once Jill has a DNA test and she has hers, it will prove her true identity."
Murphy works to calm Kay's nerves as she waits to get the test done. "Kay is nervous, and there are always doubts. She's scared to death Jill won't have her DNA sample taken," explains Cooper, noting that Jill's "in such denial" about Kay and sure she's Marge. "How can you make Jill do it, if she doesn't want to?"
In fact, Jill does refuse to give a DNA sample when the lab technician stops by. "But Esther is marvelous at embarassing Jill into it," chuckles Cooper.
Meanwhile, the good news keeps coming for Katherine as she speaks to her doctor, and she calls Amber to share it. "Kay learns she doesn't have Alzheimer's or dementia, and she's ecstatic," says Cooper. "Now she's just got to prove she's Katherine Chancellor, and she thinks this DNA test will do it."
Finally, Kay goes to the diner intending to tell Pearl and Joe the truth: she's Kay, not Marge. "It's the most divine scene," raves Cooper. "It's so lovely. She tells them she won't need her uniform anymore, but that she'll still come by to see them. They look at her like she's really gone off the deep end. Kay sees the blank looks on their faces and knows that don't believe her. She tells Murphy, 'If I were them, I wouldn't believe me, either.' It's so ridiculous a situation. Kay's so far removed from her mansion and in a diner with a waitress uniform, Murphy and bait and tackle."
Once she's alone with Murphy, Kay reassures him that he will continue to play a large part in her life, even when her true identity has been proven. "Murphy has become her closest reliable source of comfort outside of an Esther and a Nikki," says Cooper. "He's a very genuine, honest human being, and Kay wants him to remain in her life."
However, in the meantime, Kay can only wait. "She's very optimistic," asserts Cooper.
Kay is convinced it's simply a matter of time before she's given the proof she needs in order to take back her life, and she hasn't given any thought to what might happen if the test results aren't what she expects. "She hasn't gone that far. She's determined to prove she's Katherine Chancellor," shrugs Cooper. "Once the results come back, she's sure there will be no doubt about anything and she'll be able to prove who she really is."
Well, that's about to be put to the test!
