Our daughter will be turning two during our stay. She is already tall enough to ride to Matterhorn. I remember riding this when I was very young, but not sure if it was as young as she will be.

Would you/have you ridden this with a young two year old?

We took our DS on the Matterhorn when he was a young 3, and he had no problem. I know it's a year older than your DD but I think given his personality if we were at Disney when he was 2 he would have loved it then too. He really likes the fast rides (especially the water rides where you can get wet!). I guess it all depends on your DD's personality.

My daughter rode it at 2yrs 4months. She loved it! She always had liked to go fast so I had thought she would like it. The ride configuration would have your daughter between your legs so you can brace her durring the ride. It is rather dark in places and the yeti could be scarry to her. I would start with other dark rides like Peter Pan and Alice to see how she handles the dark first and also do Gadgets Go Coaster which goes fast but is very short and sweet and all outside in the light. Oh and a little preparation goes a long way. :) Talk with her about the yeti and say something like, "Oh, that big harry yeti yells alot when he wants a Mickey bar." :goodvibes Have Fun!

We took our first DD on it when she was 2.5 years old and she hated it. She still refuses to go back on. We took DD2 on it when she was a month shy of her 2nd birthday and she LOVES it! She goes on it every single trip. So honestly, it comes down to how you think your daughter will react to it. How does she do on other rides?

we too our daughter on at 2 well she is ok with the ride but the yeti is another story.

She is 3 now and will not go on because of the yeti still but loves HM and pirates every kid is differnt.

My two youngest have been riding matterhorn since they were each 2 years old as well, and they really enjoy it. They startle a little bit as we go past the screaming yeti, but they still always want to go on it repeatedly while we're there.

And it's not like they are the "overly brave" type of kids....my dd7 will go on every ride at DLR that she's tall enough for, but outside of DL, she's afraid of tons of stuff...including butterflies, lol!

Wow, it didn't occur to me that my 2-year old may be able to ride this. I'm almost positive she'll meet the height requirement. I still don't know how she'll feel about rides on this trip.

She liked them on the last one, but was a little nervous about the drops on POTC. Everytime we went down a drop she would lift her arms up and say something like, "Aaaa." It wasn't super loud though, but it was funny.:rotfl:

DD who LOVES Space Mountain, has not ridden Matterhorn since her first ride. It wasn't the ride but the Yeti. But she rode Expidition Everst about 5 times on out last WDW trip!!! Go figure!

Btw, what part of AK do you live in? I grew up in southwestern, rural AK. I hear you guys are getting a huge dividend and fuel rebate check:woohoo: . It's the only time I've ever wished we lived up there lol! We would have gotten a huge amount w/ 4 kids. You guys deserve it though, especially w/ the high utility costs. That extra money sure would help w/ our DL trip though!

Thanks for the info, this is great. I like the idea of easing her into the rides.

We live in Anchorage. There is a huge energy rebate and permanent fund dividend (oil money) this year. Unfortunately we haven't lived here long enough to qualify. It stinks that they tied the energy rebate to the dividend, so we don't get either. We are paying 4.35 a gallon for gas. Next year we will get the PFD, so maybe that will fund another trip to Disney!
