You might want to avoid Krispy Kreme

The update no one really cares about:

I tried for several days to get the location I visited to answer the phone. That never happened. No matter the time of day called, no one answered. It is located in a place I don't normally visit so no hope of talking to a manager/owner in a timely matter, oh well.

Yesterday I did get a response from the complaint I made on the corporate site. They offered up an apology and a free dozen doughnuts. I will visit a different location for the free dozen and make sure to check the box before leaving the drive thru.

I asked that they make sure they let the location know they had served a box that had been either eaten from or served from since I was unable to talk to someone locally.

It was at that point the the corporate person said "What did you just say?"

They had assumed I had eaten the 6 missing doughnuts and was complaining about the marks on the remaining doughnuts made by the straw like instrument they use to pick doughnuts off the conveyor belt. At that point the person I spoke to said he would make sure the owner of that franchise understood what had happened and said eating or serving doughnuts from a packaged dozen was not a procedure taught to the franchise owners to prevent this very situation.

Life lessons learned:
1. Continue to avoid drive thrus
2. If not possible to avoid a drive thru, no matter how annoying it is to check, open every bag and box to verify the order is correct before leaving the window.
It’s good that you got a response from Corporate. I bet the phone at the franchise isn’t working right. I’ve had it happen twice in recent months where I was aggravated that no one was answering the phone at the business when I knew people were there, but in both cases, when I went down there, they said they’d been having problems with their phones.

Also, many businesses are so short handed that they're not answering phones, but serving customers.

My guess is your store is shorthanded since the box was missing doughnuts and we know good help is hard to come by, especially now.

It's a said reflection on the state of my standards that that picture just makes me want Krispy Kreme. I prefer the raspberry filled ones, though.

I'm going to play devils advocate - sorry if this has been mentioned. KK usually has a box of glazed doughnuts on the counter so they can hand out samples to the people walking in and standing in line. I think they gave you that box, not knowing that it was the "sample" box. Honest mistake.

That said...
I avoid KK because they play games with the "specials". You think you are getting a deal, only to find out you are not because you ordered a chocolate instead of a glazed (or some other such nonsense) and then they don't tell you. That and the things are fat bombs. Delicious, but deadly.

My sister said that, with her MIL, it wasn’t a good meal unless she maid the waitress cry.

Hard to believe, but some people are just like that. 👎🏻

I don't understand why someone would do that. I try to be the opposite. One of my best memories was back when I was in the service. I didn't blow my money and my treat was going to Golden Corral for supper the night before payday. I must have been a decent customer and tipped well because not only did I get refills on my drink they even started giving me "refills" on my baked potato. 😁 This was not a single instance but happened many times. For a young enlisted guy this was kinda nice.

I was simply raised to treat others like you would want to be treated. Will they always respond in kind - no. But most people are decent and you then know the ones to avoid.

I'm not above getting a bit angry if I feel there's something really wrong, but absolutely it's important to me to treat people with respect. I remember once at a transit station I just approached a station agent because a change machine at my $1 bill. She didn't seem annoyed at all and when I asked if everything was OK, she just said it was unusual that I wasn't yelling at her.
