You may want to avoid HS on Saturday (3/15)

When I lived near Disneyland, I avoided the park like it had the plague on days when there is a cheer competition.

This Saturday (3/15) there will be a cheer competition in HS and ESPN. (My boss is going to see his daughter cheer.. and even he doesn't want to go.)

In HS, the competition takes place in the Indy Stunt Show arena, so that will be closed for the day.

So, HS and ESPN will be overrun by sparkly pre-teen/teenage girls all hyped up on redbull and sugar.

Proceed at your own risk, you have been warned. :rotfl:

We wouldn't have any problem at all going to a park other than Studios during that type of competition. However, we've been at Wide World of Sports for a spring training game and while we weren't sharing space with the teams or competitions, it GREATLY affected parking and traffic in the area. Depending on which team the Braves were playing, the parking overflow the actual ESPN Wide World of Sports grounds to the fields around and the berms of the roadways.
Once the game let out (give or take 10,000) it was a zoo.
Just sayin'
:crazy2:

I can handle....their parents; not so much.

I was thinking the same thing. Years ago I was at a Star Trek con and we were sharing hotel space - though not convention space - with Pop Warner cheer contest. It was an odd mix. I didn't mind the kids so much (although being in an elevator with that a group of girls wearing that much hairspray was a new experience). Energetic sure. But not bad. It was the parents I found to be a bit obnoxious and overbearing.

As far as I recall these cheer competitions have little impact on the Parks and more of an impact on the resorts themselves. These packs of little girls can be quite annoying and rude in regards to manners and hotel etiquette. (I know I hate to lump them all into one group, I know they are not all misbehaved)

In DL after the competition was over, they would tour the parks. My boss and his family are doing the same thing afterwards in HS this year, so I am just sending out a friendly warning.

They do it at 6 Flags also and it's even worse because the groups practice in the park in the middle of the pedestrian path.
