Hello... I'm looking at a 20th wedding anniversary trip in either July 2022 or August 2022. Disney has always been our go to trip. This will be our 10th trip together. This will be our first adult only trip since 2003.

The deluxe resorts are out of our price range. So are the moderates, we are Value people but want to live it up a little so looking at the following resorts:

Caribbean Beach
Port Orleans French Quarter
Cornando Springs.

We have stayed at all three before. We stayed at the CB for our Honeymoon. It was our honeymoon. It was awesome. We haven't been back in 20 years though. We stayed at Cornando for our 1 year anniversary trip. We liked it but it it didn't leave many impressionable moments or highlights. The POFQ was quiet and was real nice. Had our oldest with us.

I can see us staying at all 3. CB for our history there, it's also the hub base for the Skyliner. We can do a Skyliner crawl one day. The CS was just redone and you have the restaurants there and next door. POFQ seems the most romantic and quieter of the 3 and you can jump on the boat to get to the Disney Springs.

If you had to choose one of the 3 for a romantic getaway with your significant other, which are you choosing?

Thanks

Bonus Points if anyone knows if any of these resorts have walk in showers not shower/tubs. Thanks again

We were in a preferred room at CBR around Thanksgiving and it had the shower/tub. It was close to the food court and we took an internal bus to get to the Skyliner.

Have you considered Port Orleans Riverside? We stayed there 3 years ago in a Royal room with a River view and was not too far to the food court and loved the grounds. Can’t remember what the bathroom situation was. Plus they have the carriage rides. The bus situation was fine. To me that seems more romantic than the others you list. Have never stayed at Coronado. We were at POFQ a number of years ago before the renovation and really liked it.

Coronado Springs, without a doubt. Deluxe atmosphere at moderate prices. Beautiful grounds. Great pool. Variety of dining venues. Amazing Cast Members.

This. Especially if you book a Tower room!!

(I am a bit confused because of the statement in the original post that the OP can't afford moderates, yet lists three moderates as the ones they are looking at.)

We chose Coronado Springs for our 25th anniversary last December. The grounds and fountains/water features are beautiful. We loved walking around at night. The connecting bridges make it easier to get around the property and Three Bridges is a very nice place to have a late meal by the water. The lounge at the top of the tower also has excellent views. We love it and it has become our new favorite. We're so glad POR was still closed last year as we would have never thought to try CS. Now, we can't imagine going back to POR. The rooms are also MUCH nicer.

The tower at CS! My husband and I celebrated our 20 th there in 2020. It’s so nice. It’s a bit more expensive than a regular mod, but I would choose it over a deluxe…it’s still much cheaper than that level. And it’s a walk in shower.

Grand Destino Tower at Coronado has a walk in shower. Everywhere else is the tub combo.

I am a park person, so for me CB is the obvious choice. If you request a room near the Skyliner station, you can go from your room to Studios in 10 minutes, or Epcot in 15. No waiting for the next bus or monorail.

I do enjoy the theming at POFQ, but I don't care for Disney Springs, so I would only stay there if it was significantly cheaper.

I've never stayed at Coronado, but from some people I know who did resort only trips there, the dining options and pools are great.

I just stayed at CSR in the tower and it was amazing - it has a walk-in shower. The resort definitely felt more like a deluxe to me and I loved all of the dining options. I do think the PO resorts are more quiet and romantic, however. I'm not a huge CBR fan, but can certainly understand your emotional connection to the resort. I think if you would like a newer room, I would go with CSR-GST, a romantic resort - POFQ or park convenience - CBR.

I'm obviously in the minority, but here's my 2 cents. I've stayed at POR and CSR. I would stay at either of the PO resorts (or try anywhere else on Disney property, tbh) before I went back to CSR. It feels like any hotel and I didn't get any romance vibes with the exception of the courtyard with the lights strung over it for dancing, maybe. I would love to try CBR sometime and would happily go back to POR's charm in a heartbeat.

Consider making this trip special and renting DVC points. You can stay at Deluxe resorts for 200-300 a night. It’s amazing!

if not, I vote CBR. A nice full circle thing, plus it’s totally different than it was 20 years ago and the skyliner hub!

We have stayed at all and POFQ is our favorite. I think it is the most relaxing of those three.

Never stayed at CBR but I have stayed at the other two. Will actually be staying at both next week.

FQ is beautiful, we love to just sit by the river and enjoy the sights and sounds. They also have carriage rides that go along the river. It’s a small resort and an easy ride to Disney Springs which offers so many great dining options. We also do love the quick service food at the resort tho.

GDT we have only stayed CL. If you can budget a night or two there that would be a nice way to celebrate. It’s the most reasonably priced club level we usually can have a nice breakfast in the lounge and are able made good value of our stay. We don’t plan park days when we are CL and just enjoy the lounge. If you don’t do CL the resort is still beautiful & the tower rooms do have walk in showers. I’ve also heard great things about Three Bridges Restaurant and the bars at the top of the tower.

The idea being that it's a splurge--not something they would do regularly, but it's a special occasion.

I've never stayed at those particular moderates, (but would probably go PoFQ, CB, CS, if I did) but was also going to say that it may be worth looking at renting DVC points for one of those resorts. Depending on whether there are any room discounts at Disney, it can be as cheap to rent DVC. I am going this week for the Marathon, and got 4 nights in a value studio for less than what I would have payed for Pop.

Like others have said, GDT for an all adult trip is great. We were Deluxe resort people, but GDT offers the best of both worlds, deluxe feel with moderate prices. The restaurants and lounges are great, it's located right between AK, HS and EPCOT and is less than a 5 minute bus ride to any of them. We UBER from GDT to those 3 parks on occasion rather than waiting on a bus. It's about 7 or 8 minutes from DS as well and close to AKL if you want to dine over there. The Skyliner hub at CB gets a pretty long line in the mornings, so it's not as much of a time saver in the mornings like people think it would be. Often times the lines can be 20-30 minutes long, then in the case of EPCOT it drops you off in the back of the park and you have a 10 minute walk to any of the rides outside of Remy's.
The later in August you can swing the vacation the less crowds you will likely face as most of the schools will be back in session. My wife and I usually go in Sept. due to that fact.

We took this picture from 3 Bridges Bar and Grill out on the lake. Very good food at 3 Bridges.

We have had a King bed room at Coronado not in the tower that had a walk-in shower. We really like Coronado, but if you want to go to disney springs for several dining reservations then I would do POFQ for the boat.

I would look into renting DVC, but make sure you learn all the caveats to renting points, but you can get a studio for around the cost of a Mod resort. If the room is really important, then like others have mentioned, GDT is great, but you did not seem to thrilled with CSR on your last trip. But if you are like us and the resort theme and extras, like skyliner at CBR or boat to DS at POFQ, are a bit more important then I would go in that direction. You have been to all 3 so you already know the pros and cons of each, except GDT.
BTW; I know when POP was refurbed, WDW had added rooms with just a walk-in shower but it's a "request category" so not guaranteed. But I am not certain if they did this at every resort refurb.

Caribbean Beach
Port Orleans French Quarter
Cornando Springs.
I have not been to CBR, but have been to the others (as well as POR).

Of those three, I think of CSR as the most "adult" in vibe. It has a broad selection of restaurants and several different lounges. It's the only one with a spa/fitness facility (if you really want to splurge, a couples' massage is one way to do it!). The location isn't next to anything in particular, but it is centrally-located which means nothing is particularly far. This would be my first choice. CSR might also be the easiest place to get a good room rate, because it is less popular than POFQ and it doesn't have the "Skyliner Premium" built in.

Second place goes to CBR. The amenities at the resort itself are not equal to CSR, but you can walk/skyliner to Riviera's restaurants which helps. Having easy access to/from Epcot for evenings is helpful, especially if you have hoppers and are there during a festival. That's a little less helpful in the days of Park Pass, but still good. (DW and I enjoy making our way around the booths, but we can't do more than 3 or so in one pass before we are full, so it's a multi-evening affair.)

For me, POFQ comes in last. It has no full service restaurant---you need to go to POR or take the boat to Springs for that, though I really like Boatwrights. I think this also depends on whether you've been to NOLA or not. I have, so when I get to POFQ, it just looks like "fake New Orleans," especially in the daylight.

I agree with the previous poster that the CSR has the most adult vibe. 3 Bridges is awesome and the rooftop lounge is a great place to grab a nightcap.

While all those choices are good, I would suggest also keeping an eye on Swan/Dolphin prices. Sometimes they have decent deals that put them in the price range of the options you are looking at. While themeing is weak compared to the Disney hotels, the location to Epcot (and HS) can't be beat for an adults only trip.
