You Know You're Into Disney When Your Kid Says...

Forgive me if this thread is already somewhere else, but I had an experience with DS (4 1/2 yrs. old) today that made me think.

We were raking leaves in the back yard this afternoon. When I looked up from trying to occupy his little brother (6 mo. old), my DS was investigating the little berries growing on the unknown bush that's growing over our back fence. :scared1: I immediately launched into lecture mode, but at least thought to stop and ask him, "Do you know why you should never eat things that grow outside without asking Mommy or Daddy first?"

DS replied, "They'll make you sick."

Relieved, but wanting to make sure the idea sticks (this kid chews as a nervous habit - none of his sister's Barbie dolls have feet that he hasn't mangled yet), I went on. "Yes. They could be poisonous. Do you know what that means?"

He got very serious and said, "Yes. It means you fall asleep for a long, long time. For a hundred years." :lmao:

Anyone else had a moment like this? A moment when you realized that maybe your focus on Disney is a little much? When your child associates real life with what he sees in the movies/hears in the stories/sees in the parks???

Just wondering if we're the only family like this out there...Please tell me I'm not!

For us, it is our DD forever finding hidden mickeys...in her cereal, in the clouds, clover, in the bathroom...Yes she has even found a hidden mickey in her pooo and had to announce it in the livingroom while we had company. Of course, Mommie had to come see her hidden mickey in the toilet.:lmao:

Yea, I think my lil one is a disneynut who is totally into Disney!:thumbsup2

my 17 year old son and I always look for Hidden Mickeys. Our family will break out and sing " Tiki Room" Disney is talked about almost daily in our home and our kids aren't little anymore 17(18 on the 27th) 20(21 come November 8) and the middle son just turned 20. :) Disney is my happy place!!!!!!

dd 13 wants a green mermaid bottom made for swimming :fish: emailed me the pattern and found material...I realized she does want to be a real mermaid, or is it eric she pines for?

She still lines up for Ariel!

That's funny!

We do this all the time too! I'd love to rip out the wallpaper in my kitchen....but the are hidden Mickeys in the pattern of fruit!! It makes me smile to know Mickey is here everyday!!:goodvibes

I think DD10 is on to theme park strategies. We were at the State Fair watching a guy make ice sculptures with a chain saw. After a bit she looked at the crowd gathered around him and said "Let's hurry up and go get supper while all these people are distracted!"

I guess it's kind of like riding rides while everyone else is watching the parade!

And yes, Disney stuff is a regular topic of conversation around here.

I have a cute story I'll share. We just got back from Disney a couple of weeks ago. While there the we got signs to put up in our boys' room at home. The younger one picked a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse one and the older one picked a Pirates one. Dh put them up in their room and on the first night my 5 yr old ds says he is not sure if he likes what his new Pirates sign says. It says 'No Trespassing' and if 'No Fastpassing' isn't good neither can 'No Trespassing'. :thumbsup2

We just started looking for Hidden Mickey's on this trip too and they followed us home too! ;)

...when your child's playmate says "You said that a thousand times!!" after DS3 tells him "I go to Disney!"

The funny thing...he's only been once!! :rotfl: Looks like we've already got him trained!

Hidden Mickeys...

I was looking for a bra at Nordstrom Rack. Found several and went back to try them on. Had DS with me and they were kind enough to give us a bigger dressing room, but it was still a bit squished in there.

After I put the one that fit on, I was looking down and DS looked up at it, and we both noticed the little "triangle" of round beads in the center of the cleavage, and basically said "a hidden Mickey" at the same time. :rotfl:

LOL We find Hidden Mickey's EVERYwhere! We sing the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room songs, we have Disney ringtones on our phones, we quote lines from Disney movies, we play "what am I thinking of?" and it's almost always Disney themed.....Disney clothes, Disney dishes, Disney doors on the girls' rooms....ya, we are pretty Disneyfied in our house! LOL

My friends have decided that it is time for an intervention - but I am not ready! It is my happy place too!

:cool1:

Cute story! I think that his ability to incorporate Disney into "real life" is a good thing. I like the idea of using fast passes for long lines at stores. I could use those on Black Friday. :thumbsup2

I love these stories...

A couple of weeks ago, DD (13) and I were talking about...you guessed it Walt Disney World. She says that she is planning on going to WDW for her honeymoon. I casually mention the possibility that maybe her fiance won't want to honeymoon at Disney World...
She glances at me (with "the look") and says, "Then why would I be marrying him?" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I could see my almost 4 yo dd doing something like that!

Whenever my youngest finds one of my high heels she calls it my "glass slipper".

She is really upset too, that she wasn't invited to go to the ball with us..she said this after looking at our wedding album. She is 4, by the way!

My daughter and neice can't decide on whether they want to be veternarians, load people onto Dumbo or sell Mickey bars. I am pushing them to see Mickey Bars, I love those things!!!!

Just last night, my (just turned) two year old granddaughter, was coloring and singing softly a new song she was learning in her Bible class.

It went something like this:

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
Acts and First Peter Pan,
Captain Hook and Wendy
!

Maybe not exactly what her Sunday School teacher had in mind, but the only Peter she's ever known is Peter Pan, so......
that's what Brooklynn naturally followed with.

She just returned from her sixth trip to Disney World, so I guess her teacher will understand where it's coming from!
