A friend of mine told me last night that he is going to Disney in October and was getting the dining plan. When I asked where he has reservations, he said "oh we didn't do that yet, I'm sure the travel agent will do it." I gasped!!! I explained how I got up at 5 am 90 days out from my trip to make my reservations, but he didn't seem worried. I had to restrain my concern about his trip and just move on to another topic, so as not to come off like a crazy person. But I did realize at that moment that I've become I full ADR nut... and I used to think they were no big deal!

Your not the only one. I have friends that are going the same week we are here in a couple of weeks and they are getting free dining. They were planning on waiting to the last minute to make ADRs. I was like :scared1:. I kept at them up to thier 90 day window and they took my advise and happy they did. I called at my 90 day window and two of my ressies I was not to thrilled with the times, but I was happy I even got them (Ohanas and La Celliar).

Boy do I know what you mean....call me a ADR nut as well. My DH thought I was nuts yesterday for getting up at the crack of dawn to make our ADRs for when we go in December. He doesn't realize that I had planned out some really hard ADRs (Le Cellier for dinner and CRT). He thought that since we are going 3 months from now AND at a less crowded time, that we should be able to get all of our ADRs....little did he realize that free dining is going on while we are there :sad2:.

Another thing is, after I made my ADRs yesterday (which I was able to get thanks to my getting up so early :woohoo:), I went and saw the dining menus at each of the restaurants and had picked out what I am going to eat :rotfl:. Then of course I had to go to the Food Porn threads just to look at all the wonderful food and treats that I may/will be having in just a few months.....December can't come any sooner :goodvibes.

Yeah, I hate knowing someone might buy a Dining Plan and then not be able to use the credits.

I've had a hard time finding many ADRs for October-- free dining has wiped a lot of the availability out.

We have friends going Dec 27 to Jan 2 and I told them what I thought they should try, alternatives, and when to book. They looked at me like I was crazy and explained that when they go on holiday they don't like to be committed to anything, so they are going to wing it! I hope they enjoy counter service because as we all know at that time of year they aren't getting a walk in! We were there last Christmas and it was insane!

So I enjoy spending time with you my crazy Disers...you get me! :rotfl:

I don't think that makes you a nut. I think that just makes you informed. I have also been in the same situation. I have had them look at me like I was crazy, but those people always tell me I was right when they got back and ate counter service for most of their trip. I think we are just smart consumers because we have researched how to get the best trip for the money we have spent. Let's face it-free dining or not Disney is still not a cheap vacation. You would think those who look at us like we have lost it would want to get the best vacation for their money.

So I say we are smart and not nuts!!!:thumbsup2

haha this has happened to me twice for Sept trips!! A co-worker is going the same week as me and when i ran into him in the hallway I asked where they're eating. He went on this huge tirade how they can't find anything, blah, blah, blah. Then asked where I'm eating and was amazed at how many ADRs I got. He asked the secret and I just nonchalantly mentioned that I booked on teh 90 day mark (i left out the part where I woke up at 5:30am to book ADRs online...thought that might have sounded a little TOO crazy for him!).

Then I find out a few weeks ago that my cousin and her family are going THIS WEEK! I've seen her three times since she's told me and asked about their ADRs and she said she keeps on forgetting to call. They're pretty decent Disney fans so they should know this! Her mom is even a DVC member! They are staying Club level though in the Poly and mentioned that it's easier for her to get ressies? I wasn't too sure about that so I didn't question it. I have to call her before she leaves to see how she made out.

That's my main concern. I really don't worry if someone is just going, no dining plan, and not making ADR. But if your paying for the food, I want you get make the most of it!

So I enjoy spending time with you my crazy Disers...you get me! :rotfl:

Haha, that's how I feel! Most people just don't see Disney vacations the same way us Disers do!

I have been stalking the site for 2 days now for ADR but can't seem to get what I want.So we might just save our $ on the DDP and do the QS one or none at all and just eat when we feel like it.
If I can't get the restaurants we want to eat at then it isn't worth the $ on the DP for sure.

I can relate to each & everyone of you.... I too made some suggestions to a friend who is only trying to get CRT (but what about the rest, I asked?? :confused3)

My 90 days is tomorrow. I had a nightmare :scared1: last night that I overslept & my computer wouldn't work. I may need professional help :rotfl:

he said "oh we didn't do that yet, I'm sure the travel agent will do it."
Oh, my! That's the worst one I've heard. Not wanting to decide ahead of time which park to be in which day, or just not understand how fast those reservations go, I can understand!

But why on earth would your travel agent make dining reservations for you? (unless you told them which restauarant, which day, of course) :scratchin

:scared1:

This is what I'm afraid of. We're staying at a DVC property and paying for the DDP when we go in Dec, so needless to say I'm freaking out since we still have to wait till this coming Sun to make our ADRs. I'm soo afraid we will not get what we want. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that we can get in at Ohana on Dec 7th for DH's birthday!
