Sometimes it's a pain to live in the same small town that you grew up in.
The Real Estate office I work out of has a big blue public mail box out front. I put mail in there on a regular basis. Yesterday, my mom came into the office laughing her rear off. Seems that the mail was picked up earlier that day, got to the post office, where it was discvered that one of my envelopes did not have a stamp! They actually recognized my writing, and put a note in my mom's post office box to come to the window. They told her what I did, mom paid for a stamp, and got it mailed. Then she stopped down to my office to bill me for that stamp. This is way too small of a town when the postmaster recognizes everyone's handwriting!

Good thing some of my mail comes in plain brown wrapper!

Funny story

i went from a fairly large city in connecticut to a small town in new hampshire. if you call 911, the mailman comes. if you go to vote, the guy who owns the country store is there in charge. the police officer for the town also came to fix our chimney because he "does that on the side". there aren't even any street lights outside my house! but in a pinch, there's always a neighbor to help you out.

Funny! At least you didn't have to wait for it to come back two weeks later marked insufficient postage.

When my niece was about three, she stayed with my parents for a few days while my DS and BIL were out of town. I mailed a package to my niece at my parents' address so that it would reach her while she was staying with my DM and DF. The woman working at the post office knew my mother and, trying to be nice, sent it to my niece's home address instead.

My goodness. I live in a small town but not that small
