You know what kills my vacation budget?

I don't buy travel sizes...when my shampoo, toothpaste, etc., gets down to about a week's worth from every day use, I stick it in the vacation bin. We just toss the empty bottles, and use the space for souvenirs. We don't have pets.

I do that, too. I've even gotten to where I just use the hotel's shampoo.

Other things I do... I don't buy new underwear for a trip. I take the old ones that are on their last legs and throw them away when I'm done... more room in the suitcase.

I don't buy new vacay clothes either... I buy new shirts at WDW. It's clothing AND a souvie! :cool2:

For me, it's kids stuff. I swear my kids have magic feet that only grow in the 2 weeks before we go somewhere. All of the sudden nothing fits :confused3

For our last trip I planned ahead and got a couple things here and there that I knew we would need for the trip vs spending a fortune the day before the trip. Worked out good. I will do the same for our next trip.

I am pretty frugal with vacation planning. I don't buy travel sizes...when my shampoo, toothpaste, etc., gets down to about a week's worth from every day use, I stick it in the vacation bin. We just toss the empty bottles, and use the space for souvenirs. We don't have pets. We are going in November, so I am just bringing the summer clothes we have and get an extra week's use from them. We are using our normal grocery budget to buy food for breakfast in the room, lunch to carry in and snacks for the drive.

If I had only boys, I'd be shaking my head at all of you.

My daughter, however, is going to break my bank. I keep seeing cute things and buying them! I mean, she NEEDS a Minnie pettiskirt, right? And, of course, she HAS to have hairbows to match. I can MAKE those, so it won't cost me much, right?? And, how can she be in a Minnie outfit without having the boys wear Mickey shirts??

It is all her fault.

Better bring some warm clothes too in Nov. We have been a few times in Nov. You basically need to pack for warm weather and cold weather. We have been when you can wear shorts/capris and when we are in heavy jackets and gloves.

I'm preparing for our trip in May and so far I've bought dd two new swimsuits, a couple pairs of shorts and new flip flops. Dh got new flip flops and a rash guard shirt. Ds got new sneakers and a rash guard. I don't need anything at the moment. We'll probably buy some mister fans and a couple of beach towels when we get there. Also need 2 waterproof disposable cameras.

May I ask if you have used them before which disposable waterproof cameras you use? I was wanting to get one this year but haven't used one before so not sure which one is good. Tia.

Well, when I first started to travel, I bought travel size of whatever I would use..NOW tho, I refill the travel size from what I already have. No new under clothes each time as after I do the wash, I put everything like that back in my suitcase. Basically the same for the clothes I wear once at Disney. I don't need any special clothes at home as I wear jean shorts and tees all the time except for church, so my "good" clothes they are ready to put in the suitcase as well. I only wear my favorite shoes or flip flops..no new ones for me.:) I do however, make a few matching shirts for whoever goes with me and that at times can cause me to spend too much..but, I need to do those to help with the magic of staying at Disney:)

:thumbsup2For me I'm anticipating it will be the outfits. I'm working on losing weight, and DD will for sure have grown more from Summer to Winter...but will need spring like outfits for a Dec trip to Florida!

My plan is to raid clearance racks as things go on sale at end of season. Pay the super cheap prices and buy them a size up.

Basically whatever is cheap is what I pick up. I think we got the Target brand last time and they are fine. They are for our day at Discovery Cove and the waterpark.

Kennel fees! We have three dogs and are taking three week-long trips this year that we can't take the dogs on. I like for them to stay at nicer places that have lots of activities and supervision and big, clean rooms to sleep in, but we could go on an entire (very nice) vacation for as much as we spend in boarding our dogs!

Oh my God, if I had to pay to put my 3 in a kennel for the length of our vacation, it would cost the same as bringing another person with us! Luckily, I have a responsible cousin who is going to stay with the dogs for significantly less than what the kennel would charge. Oh, what we do for our "kids"! haha
