The days when my kids were little and I could use them as an excuse not to go somewhere I have a party to go to tonight and I really don't want to, the weather is crapy and I would rather stay home and Dis all night with friends I so miss the days of saying, "Oh, I'm so sorry..I can't come tonight I don't have a sitter." or "Damn, really want to be there tonight but the kids are sick." With a 15 and 17 year old, I can't do that anymore That's all, thanks for the vent....carry on

Yes, I am guilty of using the old "I don't have a sitter" excuse.

I use the cost of the sitter to judge if I really want to do something sometimes. For example, if a sitter is going to cost me $30, I ask myself, do I want to go that bad? Usually, not.

How about "Oh, I would love to come, but my 15yo is grounded, and I need to stay home to make sure [15yo] doesn't try to sneak out. You gotta watch these teens like hawks"

You also could just say your not feeling well.

CANTW8: I am going to follow this Thread closely because I am getting to be the same way...I love my home and I love hanging out here talking on the DIS, watching movies and spending time with DH esp when the weather is nasty and crappy. My DS' are off to college...so the house is nice and quiet.

I don't have any parties scheduled but I would like some really good excuses to "bank" for future use.
