You know all the queens are evil, right? Ch. 8 - The one where we keep an ADR.

Yeah an update! Your Mk photo pass picture looks great! I remember it being real cold that day. The Tree House always looks better before you actually start the climb. I'm still amazed at how much the rooms look like the movie. We have the DVD and enjoy watching it, but I only make that climb about every other trip and the this trip was a no go. I know a lot of people bash the Tiki Room, but I never saw the original so I like this one.

Can't wait to find out how dinner went.

See, I don't remember the movie at all, maybe that's why I thought it was boring! The tiki room is just cute.

:rotfl2:Soooo Did you get your WINE!!!!!!:confused3

Yes. No. Maybe. :rotfl2:

I like how there's no talk of the crowds...it seems you went with the flow.:thumbsup2

I hope it was his sister that hit her brother and not his mom....

Eh, we knew it would be crowded. It was crowded, it was cold, not much of a trip report in that. ;) We had all week after all!

The only reason I thought it was his mom was that no one said anything to her about popping him. You know?

How could they not bring the wine?? What kind of business are they running there?! Oh man, I hope you get it!

I told Donna Sue that with us they would have been better off forgetting the food!

No Wine?????????????? That's it....I QUIT!!!!! :lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Bring us the wine or we will really start to Whine!!!:rotfl2:

I think I was! Actually, I did have some rum in my suitcase that we snuck into the magic kingdom to add to our cokes (I know, I know...whatever.)

Very Funny!:rotfl:

It was! :rotfl2:

Now we're talking rum...:cool1: that is my drink Captain & coke...tell them the CAPTAIN SENT YA....:lmao:

:wave2: Just finished reading your trip report. Sneaking rum into the Magic Kingdom - sounds like this is going to be a great time!

We then went to the left...I don’t have a map in front of me and I’m not an expert although I can hear Jordan and GBiscuit and others screaming at me...I’m going with Adventureland?
::faint:: ::faint:: ::faint::

Man said, “Nope, I’m from Canada.” :rotfl2: Okay...I guess I didn’t know Canadians watched American football!
It's a symbiotic relationship: we give them football, they give us beer. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Yay, you're finally in a park! Boo, sans wine. Glad to hear the Capt. had you covered. ;)

Yeaaaaaa, your day finally got off the ground. Sounds like with the rum in your coke you two could be back on the ground before you know it. :rotfl: J/K

You know....I think I'll end up getting flamed for this, but I've never carried my fat butt up the stairs to see the SFR tree house. :confused3 I never found the desire to over ride the idea of carrying my fat butt up the stairs to take a look around! And since I pulled a hamstring I don't think this trip will bring the desire level up any.

I'm trying to remember if there is such a thing in DL, and if I did it or not. I'm sure Jordy will let me know. ;)

I'm sure they will come through on the wine in the morning, I'm kinda shocked they didn't come through for you in the first place. I think if your not there when they deliver they won't leave it, so hopefully you'll be there in the morning when they come by. :)

Can't wait to hear about your dinner. By the way, the picture of you two on Main St. is really cute. :lovestruc

:lmao: Actually it was Bacardi - easier to put in a water bottle. :thumbsup2

One of the best drinks I have had at Disney (in July, not in February when it was freezing!) was a frozen coke with some rum added in.

So does that mean it's not Adventureland?

Yeah, but the Canadian beer we get here isn't as strong...at least what we get in Texas isn't as strong as what I had in Epcot!

Oh no! You pulled a hamstring? I missed that news...I hope it is better by the time you go! That sounds worse than a broken toe! Either way you aren't missing anything in the treehouse.

Actually, they will leave it with the valet guys. Strangely enough. Also, my sister got beer from them when she went and she had to fax them a copy of her drivers license to show she was old enough...they never asked me for that.

Can't wait to hear about your dinner. By the way, the picture of you two on Main St. is really cute. :lovestruc

Thanks!

are you at jazzercise?

Yep, been there for a week and boy are my legs tired! :rotfl2:

Actually work is just insane. By the time I catch up on everyone's reports I never have time to write. Hopefully that will change this week.

So does that mean it's not Adventureland?
No, no, you had it right - Adventureland it is! I was doing my DIS thing by being in disbelief that it was a question. ;) Poking a little fun at our OCD Disney selves, lol!

Yeah, but the Canadian beer we get here isn't as strong...at least what we get in Texas isn't as strong as what I had in Epcot!

Yep, ditto that in FL! One of the first things I learned when I moved down here: Canadian beer has to be brewed different for FL,, to have a lower alcohol content. How messed up is that?! It was especially hard for me, given that I grew up 15 minutes from the border and spent most of my summers in Canada. :sad2:

Oh good, Adventureland sounded like the best guess.

I lived in a suburb of Detroit when I was a kid but my parents didn't let me drink beer. ;)

Time for a new chapter!

Okay, when I left you we were waiting on a boat....

Side note: Donna Sue is one of those people who calls things by the wrong name or mispronounces things a lot. I don’t know why, I used to correct her but she just does it that way. The example that I can think of right now is guacamole - she calls it “whack-a-molly.” And she was born and raised in Texas. So when I first planned our ADRs, she kept talking about the Hoo-de-Loo or the Loop-de-Doo or the Hoo-hoo-hoo. Now that I know there is no point in correcting her, I just kept making up names too and they evolved over time. And so, we ended up going to the “Who-de-What” Revue for dinner on our first night. :upsidedow

The boat finally came and we made our way over to Fort Wilderness. The people behind us (with the newly well-behaved kid) were worried that we would be late because we would only be getting there about 35 minutes before-hand instead of 45 like they told you. We figured it wouldn’t be that big of a deal, and we were right.

We landed and walked off the boat in a pretty straight path to Pioneer Hall. You would not BELIEVE the number of people standing out there! I thought for sure we were at some sort of combination of a Jonas Brothers concert and a Sarah Palin book signing.(This is to give you a sense of not just how many people there were but what they looked like.) And by this point, it’s dark, and it’s cold. Like cold, cold. Like “please hand me a cup of coffee and a portable fire” cold. I had my sweatshirt on and Donna Sue had a sweater but neither of us had a coat. Anyway, we joined the back of the line until we noticed that some people had tickets, so we asked a CM with a clipboard and she told us to go around to the other side of the building (where the other half of the line was) to go to the will-call window to get our tickets. Glad I asked! They then directed us to go get a really cheesy picture taken (later tried to sell us this for $20 or so) and get in the back of the other line, saying it didn’t matter which line we were in. If it didn’t matter, I don’t know why we had to get in the farther away line, but I was too cold to open my mouth and let any heat escape by arguing.

Finally about 15 minutes before showtime they opened the doors and let us in. It wasn’t their fault, but it was a long long time to stand out in that cold and people were pretty miserable. I was glad we were running a little late!

Donna Sue and I had decided to pay the extra $10 each for Level 1 seating, since we wouldn’t be back again. The seating went really quickly once they opened the doors, so in no time we were up to the hostess and gave her our tickets. She led us down towards the front....closer....closer until Donna and I both spied our table. It was great! Front row, at the corner of the stage and there is a pole there but since it is a two-top still great views.

But she doesn’t sit us at that table.:confused3

She takes a right turn and walks along the front row.

No. Way.

There is a two-top that is in the front row, right smack in the middle of the stage. And that, my friends, was our table. It was so awesome. :cloud9:

We were starving by this point so I didn’t get any pictures of the food. I think Donna ate a plate of salad before I had my napkin in my lap!

I know the HDDR gets some bad reviews here, but y’all, we loved it. Yes it was hokey, but we expected that. The performances were great, the ribs and chicken fantastic, and I was pleasantly surprised that the wine was very drinkable. (I had merlot, Donna had chardonnay, 3-4 glasses each.) Our waiter was named Bob and at first I thought we were annoying him by asking for more wine but as the evening went on he was less rushed and realized we weren’t hurrying him and things were all good. Oh, the rest of the food - the cornbread and beans and potatoes - were just okay, but I ate about 4 pieces of chicken and 3-4 ribs and who cares about beans? The strawberry shortcake was very good also. Donna Sue pointed out that all the kids in the room were really drinking in the singing and dancing too. (The singing and dancing, y'all. They weren't drinking in the wine. Sheesh!)

They came over because of Donna’s birthday and asked her “how many years” she was celebrating - Donna Sue paused so I piped up, “21!” We got a big laugh from that. Then, at the end of the show, they have your waiters all get up on stage and come down with the dessert and you applaud.

Well, you know, we’re from Texas and we like to whoop and cheer. Especially after 3-4 glasses of wine. So when Bob got up everyone applauded and Donna Sue and I cheered and whistled and yelled, “Yay Bob!” He was a little embarrassed I think, but when he came with our dessert (and then Donna’s birthday dessert, which I swear was just more shortcake) he brought us each two more glasses of wine. :thumbsup2

Okay, show’s over, and we hear the announcer tell us all to go to the bus stops. Well, I don’t know where the bus stop is but I do know where the boat dock is, so we’ll just go there. What could go wrong?

Next up: Oops.

Yeah an update! I remember this night and it was really cold. Sorry you had to wait outside. Sounds like y'all had a great time. I haven't done this yet but I really want to someday. I like corny. Sounds like the wine was just what you needed.

I'm worried about the foreshadowing. I remember once planning to catch the boat back to MK after eating at Trails End. We ended up ditching that idea after waiting for quite a while and just taking the darn bus back.

Check out my sigy...I finally started my tripy.

Donna Sue sounds like a riot!! Hoop De Loo! :lmao:

You two snagged some great seats! I've never seen Hoo Dee Doo - but sounds like I need to add it to my next itinerary.

Sounds like you had a good time at Hoo-de-hoo! I'm thinking about booking that for our October 2011 trip, but I don't know if the kiddies would eat anything!

I've been behind, but I'm caught up. :thumbsup2 Hope you get the wine in the room, but hooray for the wine at the Loop-De-Loop. ;)

I do not like standing around in the cold, either.

V, really? I guess I've never checked out the Canadian beer here. As a border state, I wonder if we have the same issue? :confused3

I think y'all would love it! It was super fun and a nice change of pace.

Foreshadowing...maybe. ;)

We were so lucky on the seats ... I kept wondering if I had slipped the hostess a $20 or something. But I hadn't had that much to drink. ;)

Most of the kids we saw were going to town on the fried chicken and mashed potatoes and cornbread. As long as they like something it's all you can eat and they'll bring you more of whatever they like. Oh, and you get to band a spoon on a washboard at the end too which they seemed to enjoy. (I know I did!)
