Some background info first.

On December 19, 2002 my cousin age 30 yrs died of complications due to diabetes that she had had since childhood. She was not feeling well and wanted to wait till after Christmas but passed out and went to hospital. She died within a week. She left behind an 8yr old daughter and a husband.

August 19, 2003, her father, my uncle, found out he had a liver disease. They had been planning a big party for Labour Day weekend and decided to go ahead with it. My uncle played in a band, so they had a great time, playing music and generally enjoying themselves. He called it "Brian's Big Blow-out Party". My uncle passed away September 22, 2003, 1 month after being diagnosed at the age of 56 years.

My mother called this morning to tell me that my aunt, from the same family as above was in a car accident last night on slippery roads and died instantly. She was 55 years old.

Unfortunately in the car was also the father of her daughter-in-law, my aunt was driving him home. He also died instantly. Turns out my cousins daughter 8 yrs old had wanted to go with grandma too, but was not allowed to go. Thank goodness for that, at least.

Some of these poor grandchildren have lost an aunt, a grandmother and two grandfathers in less than a year. I feel so bad for them.

So I guess the moral of this story is that .....life can be so very darn short.... If you want to go on the vacation, do ... whatever, do it and do it now because you really don't know if you have a tomorrow.

I just found out the man who died was only 51 years old!

I'm so sorry for your family. Heaven has more angels today. I'm sending prayers for your peace, and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your family has suffered such a great loss. {{{HUGS}}}

Wow I got goosebumps off of this one.....kind thoughts, prayers and pixie dust to all involved. You do just never know!

I am so, so sorry for your losses! :(

When I was still working, before my DS was born ,(over 9 years ago) I lost 3 co-workers and friends. Both Karen & Bonnie were diagnosed with luekemia and died within a year of the dignose. Bob was killed in a car accident on his way to work.

I was planning to go back to work once DS was born but after those three deaths I decided to stay home. Life is so short and you just never know. That's also one of the reasons why I like to go to WDW with my family so often. It's a place we all enjoy and we have wonderful memories from our vacations. (ok, so we also have some not so wonderful memories, but...)

Wow - it's hard to understand sometimes why one family has to bear so much. My sympathy to you and your extended family.

My goodness. It all seems so unfair. Hugs to you and your family and let's live for today.

Sorry to hear about all your family's losses. I will be praying for you all.

How horrible for that little girl. :( That's exactly why I try to live for today like you said. I finally figured I can't wait around for other people to be ready to start enjoying life with me, if that makes sense.

Sorry to hear of all these tragic circumstances.

Our time on this Earth can indeed be short. We never know when it will be over for any of us. Cultivate and value good solid relationships. Weed out the people or things that bring you pain or fail to move you in a positive direction in life. As they say, live for today and don't sweat the small stuff.

Awesome reminder... unfortunately we all have to live it to truly understand.

May God bless this family, what trials they've suffered.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words of comfort. They are much appreciated.

Margie J does the mean that I can/should weed out my MIL

Very sad, CK. :( So sorry to read of all that hurt. My best for all the families.
